ACC ECOSAND is finely powdered crystalline silica, which can replace natural sand usage in concrete and plasters. ACC ECOSAND ensures a comparatively denser concrete than those made only with natural sand and / or quarry fines / Manufactured Sand (Artificial Sand). Moreover, there is a significant gain in compressive strength (10-15 %) & durability in concretes (Reduced chloride conductivity leads to increased durability). ECOSAND is a by-product of froth flotation of limestone. At ACC Madukkarai cement works, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, full-fledged mineral beneficiation process is adopted to enhance the usage of flotation reject in concrete and plasters. Optimum level for usage of ECO-SAND is 50%. With 50% usage of natural sand+50% ECO-SAND in concrete mix, 1 day, 3 day, 7 day & 28 day compressive strength is increased by 30.1 %, 22.6 %, 15.1 % & 11.0 % respectively and with moderate chloride permeability as compare to 100% Natural Sand. Today there is a consensus that xanthate adsorption on sulfide minerals is primarily controlled by redox reactions occurring at specific potentials on these semi-conductive minerals. Consequently, it is possible to control xanthate adsorption by controlling electrochemical conditions in the system by using oxidizing and reducing agents. The scope of this study was to investigate the possibilities to increase the selectivity of Cu-Fe-Zn ore flotation by applying electrochemical control in the conditioning of the flotation feed. In this work, mild steel grinding in a nitrogen atmosphere was used as the basis to provide a negative starting potential and minimize the amount of oxidation products on sulfide mineral surfaces. To study how different potential levels affect flotation results, a controlled conditioning procedure was utilized maintaining potential at a desired level by titrating the pulp with air. Xanthate adsorption kinetics during conditioning was examined by taking pulp samples for spectrophotometric analysis and laboratory flotation tests were conducted for samples that underwent the controlled conditioning procedure in the potential range of -200mV to +200mV vs. SHE. A clear correlation was detected between chalcopyrite recovery and the potential during controlled conditioning indicating that there was a constant increase in chalcopyrite recovery when the potential was shifted to more anodic values. It is possible that utilizing potential control in the conditioning stage, a smelter grade copper concentrate can be achieved directly in rougher flotation without cleaning stages. Conditioning in favorable conditions had significant positive effects on flotation selectivity of chalcopyrite. The improvement in copper concentrate grade being predominantly caused by the depression of pyrite. By applying the controlled conditioning procedure pyrite recovery in rougher flotation was reduced even low as under 1%, while in the tests without controlled conditioning, pyrite recovery varied between 7.5 – 65.7%. The result of this work indicate that affecting collector adsorption by electrochemical control in the conditioning stage can provide significant improvement in sulfide mineral flotation and industrial applications could lead to decreased chemical consumption, reduced equipment and maintenance costs.

Dense medium cyclones have been in use for washing coarse and small coals for more than 50 years. There have been modifications in its design and today these units have become indispensable for washing of Indian coals possessing difficult washing characteristics. About 53 percent of the Indian coals (coking and non-coking) are being washed in jigs, about 38 per cent are washed in dense medium cyclones while the remaining 9 per cent is treated in other units like Barrel Washers, Heavy Media Baths and Drum Separators etc. The present paper deals with the attempts made for design of industrial Dense Medium Cyclones for enhanced coal recovery. Two industrial units of 500 mm diameter and 650 mm diameter were designed with their washing capacities being 200 m3/hr and 350 m3/hr, respectively. The results of the pilot tests conducted on 500 mm cyclone treating very high Near Gravity Material coals crushed to -3.0+0.5 mm gave an ash reduction of up to 19.5 percent with the new design i.e., from a feed ash of 34.5 percent to 15.06 percent in clean coal with an appreciable yield of 45 percent in one stage.

Conventionally, beneficiation in Indian coal washeries is done using dense medium cyclones upto the size of 0.5 mm. Coal fines below 0.5 mm size are extensively cleaned by froth flotation. There are many problems associated with flotation of Indian coals, e.g. poor response of coal particles to flotation, misplacement of fine high-ash material to froth, loss of good quality coarser coals (within ?0.5 mm size range) to tailing streams, high cost of reagents, water contamination, etc. In addition, sophisticated control systems for efficient management of the fines washing circuits are needed. Thus, there is an escalation in the capital and processing costs. In view of these facts, studies were carried out to establish the cleaning potential of dense medium cyclones for beneficiation of fine coal down to a size of 0.1 mm, essentially aimed at reducing the load on fine coal circuits mainly comprising of flotation. ROM Coal (in the size range of -2 + 0.1 mm) obtained from JogtaOCM,Jharia coalfield possessing relatively low ash (about 21%) was used in this study. Purpose for using low ash coal was to further lower, its ash content down to 8% which is comparable, to the ash content of imported coal. After characterization studies, nine tests were carried out on the prepared feed sample for its beneficiation using a dense medium cyclone of non-conventional design (very low cone angle and longer barrel), by varying its apex and vortex finder diameters. The efficiency of separation has been evaluated using Tromp curves. It could be established that it is possible to produce a clean coal of 8% ash, with Ep value of 0.044, using Jogta OCM coal by treating it in a modified dense medium cyclone. It has been fairly well established by many experiments that Thiobacillus ferrooxidans (T. ferrooxidans), also named Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans(Kelly and Wood, 2000),can depress the floatability of pyrite. However, the mechanisms governing the process have not been known completely. In the present investigation, wettability and electrokinetic studies were carried out to examine the surface chemical changes on pyrite before and after interaction with T. ferrooxidans or its secretions. Attachment of T. ferrooxidans to pyrite was observed using a scanning electron microscope. The results of experiments showed that, under certain conditions, T. ferrooxidans and its secretions would obviously change the surface electricity of pyrite and result in the iso-electric point of pyrite shifting notably. However, the surface wettability of pyrite hardly changed and its hydrophobicity increased little after interaction with T. ferrooxidans and its secretions. Based on the results of the present investigation it can be reasoned that the depression of floatability of pyrite is due to the reduction of surface free energy, rather than the increase of surface hydrophilicity of pyrite. The decrease of surface free energy weakens the attachment of collector to pyrite; during the process bacterial protein plays the most important role and the bacterial chemotaxis strengthens the effect.

Possibilities of the analysis of potential energy of bubble-particle interaction on the basis of extended DLVO theory are discussed. Interaction energies of mineral silica, coal and pyrite particles with contact angles from 20 to 100 degrees and air bubbles in neutral and alkaline solutions are analyzed. It is shown that for hydrophilic silica, the formation of particle-bubble complexes (either in the area of primary or secondary potential minima) is impossible due to the high potential barriers (from 6000 to 140000 kT)and low values of the attraction force. There is shown that for coal and pyrite particles the energy of interaction vs. particle-bubble distance strongly depends on pH value. Improvement of floatability of minerals by the hydrophobization of their surface by collectors leads to the eliminating of potential barriers and the formation of the stable complexes of minerals and air bubbles in the area of primary potential minimum. In addition, due to hydrophobization of coal and pyrite changing pH has practically no influence on the energy of interaction. There are discussed results of the numerical calculations of normalized interaction forces in particle-bubble systems on the nanometer distances for pyrite, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite at contact angles up to 85° in comparison with the experimental data. The values of adhesion force for hydrophobized particles of coal and pyrite to air bubbles are about 10-5 N, that indicates stability of the formed flotation complexes. Examples of using the long-range and high-energy effect of hydrophobic interactions for improving minerals floatability are discussed. There are illustrated minerals wettability changes induced by the adsorption of thiol collector and hydrophobic polymer. Possibilities of flocculation and flotation of mineral slimes due the polymer-collector hydrophobic interactions are shown. In this paper, the problem of sedimentation and consolidation of poly-disperse suspensions is considered. The solid particles are assumed to be of different densities. If the sediment solids stresses are dropped out of the system equations and using the Richardson and Zaki hindered settling model, it has been found that in the limit, i.e., as time approaches infinity, the fluid is completely displaced to the top of the sediment zone. Furthermore, the species segregate completely with the heavier and coarser particles at the bottom of the sediment and the lighter and finer particles at the top of the sediment. Practical observations do not support these behaviors and physical-ly such behaviors do not exist; consequently, results of this kind in the literature are unrealistic. Here, a mathematical structure of the poly-disperse sedimentation and consolidation problem has been proposed. In this case the compaction zone species solids stresses are introduced in the momentum balance equations of the system. The species solid stresses in the sediment are constrained so that the system equations are consistent, i.e., sedimentation and consolidation of two or more identical species should behave as a mono-disperse system. Such a condition has not been recognized and imposed in some of the studies in the literature, which has led to unreliable results. Two practical forms of species stresses that satisfy the system consistency condition are here proposed. It should be noted that the study of sedimentation and consolidation of poly-disperse suspensions could result in more realistic suspension interfaces compared to mono-disperse suspensions, and could lead to more reliable engineering designs of tailings ponds. Predictions of sedimentation and consolidation in models of poly-disperse suspensions are demonstrated using published data.

"Antofagasta Minerals S.A. (AMSA), for its Centinela District Project, is currently developing, at a first stage, a new 90 ktpd Concentrator Plant incorporating Esperanza Sur (ESP Sur) and Encuentro (ENC) ores. In order to dimension properly main equipment, specifically for grinding circuit, a final decision has been taken using geological and metallurgical (comminution) data from both body ores. Data was analyzed internally within AMSA and its consultants to get a final proposed circuit for further engineering studies. Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) parameter is one of the main key factors for proper dimensioning. To get an accurate value different tests have been made and modelled to ESP Sur and ENC ores. Also, operational data from Esperanza operation has been taken into account due to its similar ore characteristics to ESP Sur ore and incorporated as input data for design. Depending on data, quality and amount, it is possible to estimate accuracy for project investment and risk level, hence investment decision can be taken under good and reliable information."

"Heap bioleaching is an unsaturated hydrometallurgical extraction process which is commonly applied to the recovery of copper from low grade sulfide ores as well as for preparatory treatment of gold ores. The leaching reactions occur in the liquid phase, catalysed by iron and/or sulfur oxidising micro-organisms. Contact of the mineral grains with the leaching solution is consequently essential for metal recovery. Additionally, the liquid is responsible for the transport of the liberated metal out of the heap under gravitation-driven flow. However, the highly inhomogeneous structure of the heaps coupled with low irrigation rates cause the flow to vary between being gravitationally and capillary dominated, resulting in non-uniform wetting of the ore. In this study a 132 kg agglomerated ore ‘slice’ is used to examine the effect of liquid distribution on microbial colonisation and mineral recovery in a long term bioleach (> 500 days) when irrigation from a single drip emitter source is employed. The novel setup enabled sample collection from ports positioned along the length and height of the ore bed, so that 2D maps of the degree of wetting and microbial colonisation could be generated at different times in the leach. Lateral movement of the liquid increased with bed depth; the majority of flow was below the irrigation point while the top corner of the bed that was not irrigated remained the driest region of the heap throughout the experiment duration. The lowest cell numbers were also recorded in the driest regions. Specifically, cell numbers in the top corner of the bed, 400mm from the irrigation point, remained at undetectable levels until the 283rd day measurement, in line with typical heap operation durations. This indicates that slow colonisation of the heap in the regions between irrigation points may be a significant issue in heap optimisation."

This paper describes results of laboratory studies on recovery of dissolved uranium values from alkaline leach slurries of a medium-grade uranium ore from Gogi (Karnataka, India) using the resin-in-pulp (RIP) process. Besides anionic carbonate complex of uranium, the other major ionic constituents of the leach solution are CO32-, HCO3-, SO42- and MoO42-. The total dissolved solutes (TDS) are about 45 g/L. Various commercially available strong bases anionic resin-in-pulp (RIP) grade resins ? both macroporous and gel type, were studied with respect to their loading capacity. Parametric variation studies were then carried out with the short-listed resins. Results of the semi-continuous counter-current extraction and elution tests indicated extraction efficiency of about 98% and practically complete elution of the loaded uranium values with NaCl eluant using a gel type polystyrene based resin grafted with quaternary ammonium ion. "In this paper, an alternative beneficiation process was developed to recover nickel minerals from low-grade weathered ores. The studied sample, 0.3% Ni grade, is essentially composed of nickel sulfides (pyrrhotite and pentlandite); magnetite and silicates (mostly talc and amphibolites) are the primary gangue minerals. The particle size distribution was controlled using a grinding operation to avoid producing an excess of fine particles by overgrinding. The sample underwent a grinding step for the fine degree of liberation. The slimes (-20 ?m) were removed via two desliming stages in hydrocyclones (diameters of 1.5" and 2"); the ground material, which was classified in a range of (-150+20) ?m, was processed by column flotation in three different stages: rougher flotation for magnesium silicates, rougher flotation for sulfides, and cleaner flotation for sulfides, using pilot flotation columns (2" and 6" in diameter and 20 ft high). The goal of using the preliminary magnesium silicate flotation step was to remove hydrophobic minerals (mostly talc) that would float naturally with the sulfides, which would decrease the Ni grade in the concentrate, as well as to reduce the MgO content because this compound is considered harmful in metallurgical processes when a grade greater than 9% is used. The final concentrate obtained in the cleaner flotation step reached up to 2% Ni and 7.0% MgO. The global and flotation recoveries in the process were approximately 30% and 60%, respectively, due to the losses of Ni during the desliming process. Despite this low global recovery, the adopted beneficiation process can be considered an interesting alternative to produce nickel concentrate from tailings or waste materials."

Exacerbation of environmental problems during mineral mining and processing associated with their scale and geography of field distribution through the vast territory of our country requires constant monitoring of natural environment status, which necessitates engagement of space surveillance nowadays. It is proposed to use the monitoring of land cover and land use at regional and local level for the environmental assessment of a particular production or complex productions. You must establish the dependence of NDVI change trend with the magnitude of anthropogenic impact on the source or multiple sources of environmental pollution a particular area.. We present the results of studies of vegetation remote sensing methods in a number of territories placing mining enterprises. INTRODUCTION Ensuring a healthy environment is necessary both in untouched areas and disturbed. The condition of the developed territories should be monitored with particular attention, since the restoration of the disturbed territories requires great efforts and financial costs. More narrowly, the health of the environment (Zakharov V.M. and etc.,2001) means its quality ensuring the health of man and other species of living organisms, which includes two aspects (Zakharov V.M. and etc, 2000): - ensuring an environment conducive to human health as a biological species: - maintaining the health of the natural environment, i.e. its constituent species of living organisms and plants. The consequence is the disturbance of natural ecosystems, which determines the quality of the environment, favorable for human habitation and the state of health of the population in total determine the status of the territories where enterprises for the development of georesources are located and allow them to be ranked according to the degree of environmental danger. Without knowledge of the trajectory of ecosystem successions, it is impossible to offer adequate requirements for the technologies used to ensure the implementation of the preserved natural potential after the removal or reduction of man-made stress."

A simulation code called SIMJIG and the user interfaces have been developed using discrete element method (DEM) and the .NET platform respectively for the jigging process. DEM platform is used for tracking of particles in the jigging operation. DEM uses the net force balance on the particles to track the trajectory of the particle. Simulation results are compared with experimental results obtained by jigging of low grade iron ore lumps. Two different iron ore samples one from Chatishgarh and one from Odisha were used for the experimental studies. The Alljig? stratification test rig meant for batch laboratory experimental studies has been used in the present work. The behavior of different sizes of material on jigging has been examined. Later, the particle size behavior during jigging at different layers of the jig bed has been studied. Further stratification profile across the jig bed has also been studied. It was observed that simulation results are matching quite nicely with the experimental results. The SIMJIG simulator developed in the present study could be used for predicting the performance of the jigging operation effectively. "Three primary drivers are setting the trend for base and precious metal processing . they are: continued low real base metal prices, environmental concerns, and continued high prices for PGM.s. Low base metal prices are increasing the search for economies of scale and company consolidation as well as the development of some hydrometallurgical technologies. Environmental concerns are pushing for continued reductions in SO2 emissions and hydrometallurgical technologies. The high prices for PGM.s are driving major expansions and a focus on minerals processing recoveries and, to a lesser extent, reductions in the refining metal lockup.In nickel, HPAL operations on laterites have failed economically but Inco is still pursuing some alternatives. BHP-Billiton and others are developing bioleaching alternatives for nickel laterites and sulphides.Copper continues to be dominated by the hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical debate; new hydrometallurgical developments are being tested at several sites whilst the pyrometallurgists continue to make competitive cost and environmental improvements.Gold processing developments are dominated by the use of improved gravity recovery equipment and by the development of thiosulphate as a more environmentally acceptable lixiviant.PGM processing trends are the use of fine grinding technologies, higher power input flotation cells, and new pyrometallurgical technologies. Hydrometallurgical options for some applications are being sought.OVERVIEW The metals industry has remained under price pressure for some time; low and decreasing real prices for most metals have become an expected scenario. Occasional price spikes give some relief but invariably bring expansions and new entrants into an already oversupplied commodity market, thus leading to the continued price pressure. Technical innovation, economies of scale, and improved work systems are continually sought, so as to improve the competitive position of each individual company in such a climate; however, these developments add to the downward price pressure. In such a situation the application of scarce funds to research and development is a difficult task. Excess funding is not available in tight economic times and yet the main route to higher profits is clearly the application of technical developments to lower the cost of producing a metal commodity. Many technical centers have closed as a cost saving exercise and some have coalesced to obtain economies of scale. The Australian based AMIRA research organisation has grown to serve the R&D part of the market well in Australia and in South Africa by acting as the catalyst to form research partnerships between a number of industry players and as an administrator to direct the funding of research projects towards the various applicable research institutions. AMIRA has developed closer ties to Camiro (Canadian Mining Research Organisation) through the appointment of Camiro.s metallurgical processing research director as AMIRA.s North American based director. AMIRA is continuing discussions with MIRO (Minerals Industry Research Organisation) in regard to a merger, with a report outlining the merger proposal expected in March of 2003. Company focused research centers continue to be effective at Anglo American Research Labs, Teck-Cominco Research, Falconbridge Research center, Inco Research and some others."

"In flotation, depressants are used to reduce the amount of gangue that reports to the concentrate and hence increase the selectivity of the flotation process. At the University of Cape Town extensive batch flotation tests are carried out to evaluate industrial depressants and standard procedures have been developed over the years.This study was conducted in order to develop an improved method for comparing depressants using machine vision as an aid. The modified method of batch flotation involved a test with prolonged intervals between scraping to allow more time for the froth to build up and mature.This method of testing showed increased differences between the flotation performance obtained as represented by grade recovery curves for carboxymethyl cellulose and guar depressants when compared to the standard method of testing with shorter scraping intervals. The improvement was attributed to reduced entrainment resulting from longer drainage time in the froth and therefore yielded a better test for comparing depressants on the basis of true gangue flotation with minimized entrainment. As expected, the sulphide recoveries were unaffected by the change in method. The machine vision system also added to the information obtained during these tests by recording bubble size trends throughout the tests which were later analyzed and related to the amount of flotable gangue in the froth. Modifications are recommended to improve the usefulness of machine vision in batch flotation."

In 1951, Tata Steel became the pioneer in Asia by setting up its first ever washery in West Bokaro Colliery. The first beneficiation plant used to produce clean coal of 19% ash with chance cone. Feed size of chance washers were -75 mm to +6 mm. The fine coal (-6 mm) were used directly. With change in technology,in 1986,chance cones were replaced by DM cyclones and coal was washed in two circuits. In the coarse circuit -13 mm to +0.5 mm coal was washed in two stages while the fine coal of -0.5 mm was treated in froth floatation cell. With further improvement in the process the higher ash raw coal was feed to produce clean coal of 13% ash. In 1998, DSM cyclones were replaced by scrolled Evolute design cyclone which has Ep of 0.020 to 0.025 ranges resulting in increase efficiency of separation. With the increase in demand of clean coal, lower seam proportion has increased in raw coal production. The washability studies of individual seams indicated large difference in the seam characteristics in terms of washability and specific gravity cut points of the individual seams. So washing all seams together had resulted in frequent change in the character of coal and warrants frequent changes in the operating parameters of the plant in which the separating efficiency comes down and ultimately resulted in yield loss initially. With increase in knowledge and experience in coal washing the solution to this problem was achieved by adopting, seam-wise washing which is enabling process engineers by keeping set point for longer periods there by to enhance the separation efficiency. Around 90% of the chromite resources of India are concentrated in the Boula-Nuasahi Sukinda belt of Orissa state. In order to conserve these valuable ore resources strategically, several companies established chrome ore beneficiation plants in this region. The general beneficiation process in these plants consists of gravity unit operations such as Floatex density separator, spiral, wet shaking table etc. Most of these gravity circuits suffer huge losses of valuable minerals in the tailing. Any attempt towards decreasing these losses would not only increase the limited reserves in India but also make the economics of the operations more attractive. Apart from the liberation phenomena, in many of the operating plants considerable quantity of values are lost in the tailings, due to inconsistent feed quality, inappropriate selection of operating and design parameters. Mineral engineers in this regard have to play a proactive and continuous role to improve the performance of all separating units by modifying even small changes based on tests conducted in laboratory under controlled conditions followed by attempts to make necessary changes in the plant. For such improvements, accurate data collection and proper data interpretation followed by making necessary change which is implementable in an operating plant play a very critical role in performance of the circuit. Databank collected over a period of time under various conditions would also help in overcoming the future problems related to either variation in the feed characteristics or specific demand by metallurgical industries. The above concept was adopted in one of the operating chromite beneficiation plant at Sukinda. The approach adopted and practical problems encountered during the study were reported in this paper. The result of trial campaign has shown that, an overall product assaying 30.2% Cr2O3 from the feed (18% Cr2O3 ) can be produced to in single stage. An approach to environmental sustainability and improved process economy, in sulphide minerals production is recycling of process water in flotation of complex sulphide ores, although the chemistry of process water may be a critical issue to flotation efficiency. The influence of major components of calcium and sulphate ions in process water on xanthate collector adsorption and flotation response using pure chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite minerals were investigated by Hallimond flotation, zeta-potential measurement, FTIR and XPS spectroscopy studies, while bench scale flotation tests were also carried out using complex sulphide ores. The impact of the species in flotation was comprehended using deionised water, tap water, process water and simulated water containing equivalent amount of calcium and sulphate species in process water. Hallimond flotation results showed a decrease of chalcopyrite and galena recovery in process water and also in the presence of calcium and sulphate ions in both deionised and process waters, whereas sphalerite does not respond to flotation. The adsorption of calcium and metal ions but not sulphate ions on the minerals is evidenced by zeta-potential data. FTIR and XPS studies revealed the presence of surface oxidized sulfoxy species and surface calcium carbonates on chalcopyrite in the presence of process water and water containing calcium ions, surface oxidized sulfoxy and carbonate species on galena in the presence of deionised water, process water and water containing calcium and sulphate ions, all at flotation pH 10.5, and these surface species influenced xanthate adsorption. The presence of surface oxidized sulfoxy and carbonate species at the sphalerite flotation pH 11.5 were seen in the presence of deionised water, process water and water containing calcium and sulphate ions, but the surface species does not influence xanthate adsorption. Bench scale flotation using two different complex sulphide ores showed that chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite recoveries are better in process water than tap water. The studies showed that the process water can be recycled in flotation with no detrimental effect on grade and recovery of sulphide minerals. During the flowsheet development for a potential commercial Cu/Ni separation plant at the In-co?s Sudbury operation, extensive laboratory and miniplant studies were carried out. There are two potential feed streams for Cu/Ni separation at the existing operation. It is shown that Cu/Ni separation from the rougher concentrate is relatively simple without need of regrind. However, Cu/Ni separation can be difficult from the bulk concentrate because of the presence of excess flotation reagents in the bulk concentrate slurry and locked particles. Excess flotation reagents created excess froth increasing entrainment. By replacing the slurry water with tap water and with addition of some hydrogen peroxide, entrainment is minimized and good Cu/Ni separation is achieved on the bulk concentrate. Fine regrind is required to increase liberation of the locked particles for ultimately high copper recovery at the minimal nickel content.

An extra-refractory gold ore in China belongs to Carlin Type Gold Ore which is not only submicroscopic but also rich in arsenic and organic carbon. They have been proved that its floatability is not good enough and the gold in the ore could not be leached almost if it was not pretreated. The tests for the ore were carried out in accordance with flotation-concentrate preoxidation-cyanidation(or CIL) processes in order to exploit the mine. Two new depressants were discovered in the flotation tests and improved concentrate grades from about 20g/t to 32~50g/t. The methods of the concentrate preoxidation tests were alkaline atmospheric oxidation, acidic atmospheric oxidation, acidic pressure oxidation, roasting oxidation?biooxidation. The cyanidation tests after the concentrate preoxidation have proved the gold extraction of the pressure oxidation to be the highest(92.5%) and that of roasting secondary(89.3%). After fuller techno-economic comparison, it is suggested that the flotation-pressure oxidation or roasting-CIL process should be the most optimal for treating the ore. The gold recoveries of the ore were 83% for the pressure oxidation and 80% for the roasting respectively.
