En la zona sur del país se encuentra el corredor minero sur donde se ubican algunas empresas mineras siendo las principales Las Bambas, Antapaccay y Hudbay, en dicho corredor minero las empresas mineras han llevado a cabo una gran inversión social, pero la presencia de las mismas ha generado conflictos y protestas debido a las altas expectativas económicas de la población y la falta de presencia del Estado. En respuesta a esta situación, Hudbay actualizó y activó su Plan de Manejo de Crisis y Contingencias para proteger a las personas y los activos.

The use of uranium metal in non-ferrous metallurgical practice is dis-cussed with reference to its alloying behaviour and chemical activity. It is suggested that the more promising applications are in the treatment of molten metals to combine with impurities. Mines Branch work along these lines is described for copper, zinc, magnesium, aluminum and nickel alloys. It is shown that a cop-per-uranium master alloy (25 per cent U) successfully deoxidizes molten copper without detriment to the electrical or mechanical properties of the product at residual uranium levels of up to 0.8 wt. per cent. Additions of uranium to alpha brass in amounts greater than the lead impurity content were found to remove the deleterious effect of lead on hot-workability. Similar deoxidizing and malleableizing effects were found with uranium additions to nickel. It is thought that uranium forms stable intermetallic compounds with many impurity elements. A significant malleableizing effect can therefore be expected in the presence of other elements besides lead.

Para ello, se evaluaron 33 empresas representativas de la mediana minería durante el período de 1975-1979, obteniendo 12 índices standars de tipo financiero y económico para así preveer mediante una administración financiera, el objetivo económico de la empresa. En este sentido, se busca hallar no solo los índices standars en la industria minera, a partir de los datos generados por la correlación de principales cifras de los balances generales, estado de pérdidas y ganancias de los 5 últimos años de operación, sino que se realiza el análisis en conjunto de toda la compañía.

The Weber pool in Washington County, Okla. (fig. 1), covers an area extending from 2 miles east and slightly north of Bartlesville, Okla., to a point approximately 2-1P tiles northeast of Dewey, Okla. The pool is a part of the area designated by the Standing Committee on Oil Field Nomenclature, Kansas-Oklahoma Division, Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association, as the Bartlesville-Dewey field. In the following discussion of the geology, development, and exploitation of the Weber pool, the writers, by means of structure maps, cross sections through various parts of the reservoir, and tabulated development data and production statistics, have recorded salient information on a field that was developed before .1910 in an Area that has been repressured since 1926. The total oil production to January 1, 19.0., from the 2,639 developed acres considered in this report, was approximately 14 million barrels, or a recovery of about 5,3;2 barrels per acre, or 227 barrels per acre-foot. The production of the estimated 18 million barrels of recoverable oil remaining in the Bartlesville sand reservoir will require the initiation of additional secondary-recovery practices on some of the leases and the application of a more systematic repressuring program on others.

Part of a major sewer expansion for the City of Columbus, Ohio. The Big Walnut Outfall Augmentation Sewer (BWOAS) consists of 4,000m (13,200 ft) of 3.66m (12 ft)diameter tunnel passing mainly through glacial deposits with a water head of up to 2 bar. The project involves many new innovations, including: Slurry wall work shaft with excavation below the water table; Hybrid universal rings combining traditional steel reinforcement with fibers; New, full EPB Lovat TBM; Two component grout system pumped to the TBM from the surface; and, Linabond corrosion protection liner. The paper looks at the planning approach adopted to meet the various challenges presented, combined with an overview of progress to date.

The main objective of this study is to better understand the effect of underground CPB placement conditions on its microstructural, hydro-mechanical and geochemical properties. To reach this objective, three PVC columns, each 3 m high, were built, and were filled with CPB material. The columns allow simulating undrained (UD), half-drained (HD) and fully-drained (FD) conditions along with the measurement of resulting self-weight consolidation settlement of the CPB. Bleed and drainage waters were also collected from each column for geochemical analyses (pH, Eh, EC, SO42- content). After 90-days of curing time, a total of sixty CPB samples were cored from the backfill columns and subjected to uniaxial compression tests followed by physical characterization (Gs, void ratio, water content, degree of saturation, specific surface area). The results showed that the total drainage water and the maximum observed settlement occur mainly within the first 72 hours after the columns are filled. The corresponding volumetric strains suggest that in situ backfilled stopes simulated behave in a similar way to the fully-drained (FD) or the half-drained (HD) conditions. The MIP test results show that the pore structure varies between the top and the bottom of each column.

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo mostrar la importancia de la minería junior en la creación de nuevas minas, así como en el mercado de valores. Este documento tocará los retos por los que está atravesando el sector junior, y analizará las acciones, factores, estrategias y documentos públicos provistos por ciertas mineras junior que lograron llegar a su objetivo. En el primer capítulo de esta tesis se abarcará los conceptos esenciales para poder conocer la minería junior en el cual se precisarán definiciones tale como la de éxito, valor y objetivos que buscan alcanzar este tipo de empresas. En el segundo capítulo se analizará cómo la minería junior ha contribuido en la exploración minera a nivel global. De la misma manera, se identificarán los principales desafíos que están impidiendo que las mineras junior continúen con sus operaciones exploratorias normalmente. El tercer capítulo tiene como finalidad realizar el estudio y análisis de aquellas mineras que llegaron al éxito, para realizar esto se ha recopilado toda la información relevante que puede haber contribuido a que la minera junior analizada haya cumplido su objetivo. Por último, se presentaran una serie de ratios, estrategias y variables extraídos del análisis de las mineras junior exitosas para poder identificar a las actuales junior que están encaminadas al éxito.

The early development patterns of both Australia and New Zealand were substantially in parallel and both were heavily indebted to gold mining for, providing the stimulus to growth. However, since the mining boom, of 1895 - 1899, the mining sector in New Zealand has progressively declined, while in Australia it has assumed an increasing importance in the economy. The continued dominance of minerals in Australian trade, and the fact that eight out of the top ten companies in Australia are directly involved in mineral exploration and production, has strongly influenced government and public attitude's to the minerals sector. Although the legal framework of mining and exploration Acts and Regulations are similar it is in, the method of administration, particularly in regard to exploration and prospecting licences, that the gulf across, the Tasman is apparent. Despite the relative ease of application and granting of licences in Australia, in the more settled south eastern part of the continent we are finding more and more land is being zoned unavailable for exploration. In the remote areas, the Aboriginals now control nearly ten per cent of the land area of Australia, virtually with drawing that portion from exploration. The concept of 'Australianisation' has softened a hardening attitude against foreign investment in mining on the part of the bureaucracy. This anti-mining attitude is fortunately, not shared by the public, and we can but hope that the will of the Australian people can filter through to our masters in Canberra, and ease the rapid increase in the number of regulatory bodies which does so much to inhibit the normal conduct of business. The delays caused by interminable hearings and committee investigations all cost money. This cost can only rebound back on the end consumer, who after all is a voter.

The year 1979 was a period of increased activity for the world's mineral industry, distinctly in contrast with 1978 when estimated world crude mineral output value declined slightly and most phases of the industry's activity were somewhat curtailed. In 1979, most major mineral commodities recorded significant gains in output, with a substantial number achieving new record highs; details on trade levels for 1979 were not available, but increases over those of 1978 were expected on the basis of partial data. Consumption of most commodities edged higher; in some cases the higher demand levels were met largely through draw-downs of stocks accumulated in recent years, while in other cases notable output increases were required to meet demand. Actually, 1978 was not a bad year for all elements of the mineral industry if changes in output levels of the various commodities are considered as a measure of performance. There were far more individual commodities registering production increases between 1977 and 1978 than registered declines, but some of those reported as declining were relatively major commodities (bauxite, aluminum, copper and zinc were notable), Moreover, the upturn in productive activity in 1978 was not matched by increases in profits. However, 1979 was unquestionably a year of renewed expansion efforts, although some commodity areas, most notably the steel industry component, were still experiencing difficulties.

The Bureau of Mines conducted laboratory batch and small-scale continuous selective flotation tests of barite-fluorspar ores from two deposits near Marion, Ky., to determine the technical feasibility of recovering commercial grade fluorspar and barite concentrates. The lignin sulfonate-sodium fluoride method of floating the fluorspar successfully produced acid-grade fluorspar concentrates. Flotation of the barite from the fluorspar tailing using petroleum sulfonate collector yielded concentrates suitable for use in compounding oil-well drilling mud. The fluorspar and barite recoveries were about 82 and 85 percent, respectively.

The investigations carried on at the fuel-testing plant of the United States Geological Survey at St. Louis in 1904-1907 included tests of the steaming and gas-producing qualities of many coals and of the possibilif3 of their improvement by briquetting, together with washing and coking tests and tests of some of the resulting coke in the cupola. These tests were part of a general inquiry into the manner of utilizing most efficiently each of the coals under investigation. The equipment used in the cupola tests of coke, the manner of conducting the tests, and the essential results have been described in publications of the Geological Survey," and only the more important conclusions to be drawn from the tests are mentioned in the following pages. The tests were made to show the fitness of the cokes for foundry purposes, but an incidentlll result was to show foundry men and the coke producers the advisability of studying the conditions of foundry practice. The present bulletin, published by the Bureau of Mines because the analyzing and testing of fuels have been transferred from the Gilological Survey to the Bureau of Mines, briefly reviews the status of the coke industry, some features of practice in the use of coke in the foundry, the probable happenings of a cupola heat, and the reasons for modifying charging practice so that a particular coke can be used to best advantage.

This report describes the performance of Phase I of a project to design, analyze, and demonstrate a multilift longwall mining method applicable to mining coal seams twelve (12) feet or more in thickness. A non-simultaneous multilift operation is the most viable thick seam mining technique for introduction to the United States coal industry. In the case of the proposed site at Emery, Utah it will result in an increase in coal extraction from 30% with present methods to at least 50% and possibly more. The major technological advance involved in this project is mining a lower lift under a previously mined upper lift. To accomplish this, entries must be developed and maintained beneath the upper lift gob. This will necessitate the use of steel supports at frequent intervals throughout the lower lift' entry system. This has not been done in the U.S. to date. An economic analysis of the project indicates that, while this method will result in a higher than average cost per ton for coal mined, the coal would be competitive with current-operation in the area.

A geologic, petrographic and geochemical study has been performed on the pyroclastic flow deposits in the coastal area of East Zhejiang Province, Southeast China. This study leads to classification of the pyroclastic flow deposits into three associations: the extrusive type, the surge type and the ash flow type welded tuff associations. Through detailed investigation and comparison of the characteristics of these lithologic associations, with emphasis on the welded tuffs, a comprehensive model has been proposed to demonstrate the petrogenesis of the pyroclastic flow deposits.

"The most important metals in the jewelry sector are undoubtedly gold and silver. As a result of workmanship work done in the jewelry industry, the tiny metal and jewel fragments and metallic powders are scattered. Given the prices of gold and silver on the market, the dust that emanates from these workshops is of great importance. Gold recycling has become as important as raw material production within the mass market and gold production industry. In 2016, 29% of the world gold supply has been obtained through recycled gold production. Waste derived from jewelry activity is included in this category, and represents an essential component of this percentage. In the scope of this study, the recovery possibilities of Au and Ag from jewelry sweeps floor sample was investigated using flotation method. In the experiments, optimum pH value, particle size, the effect of dispersant, type and amount of reagent were investigated. As a result of these studies, it was determined that the optimum pH value was 6.5 and the particle size was -212 microns. It was observed that the most suitable reactive combination was Aero 242 and Aerophine 3418A and Na2SiO3 has no positive effect on recovery of Au and Ag as a dispersant agent. As a result of tests, a final concentrate containing 268 ppm Au and 2122 ppm Ag was obtained with 81.4% and 74.5% recovery respectively. INTRODUCTION Because of the softness of pure gold, it is usually alloyed with base metals for use in jewelry, altering its hardness and ductility, melting point, color and other properties. On the other hand, gold has some special chemical properties which in normal conditions, don’t react with water, dry or humid air, oxygen, ozone, nitrogen, hydrogen, fluorine, iodine, sulfur and hydrogen. In these days, gold is used in different sectors like jewelry, electronics, finances and investing, dentistry, medicine, aerospace, awards & status symbols. According to Deutsche Bank Research, the primary usage of gold is jewelry. It has been used to make ornament and jewelry for thousands of years. In this sector craftsmen learned that alloying gold with other metals like copper, platinum and silver to increase gold’s durability. Alloying gold with other metals changes the color of the products. Another significant sector of gold is electronics. Modern electronics want the use of noble metals, like gold, especially in the areas of information processing, telecommunications, and military and space electronics (Habashi, 1997). Electronic devices use very low voltages and currents which are easily interrupted by corrosion or tarnish at the contact points. Gold is the highly efficient conductor that can carry these tiny currents and remain free of corrosion. Electronic components made with gold are highly reliable. Gold is used in connectors, switch and relay contacts, soldered joints and connecting wires. Every sophisticated electronic device have a considerable amount of gold. This includes cell phones, calculators, personal digital assistants, GPS units, and other small electronic devices. Most large electronic appliances such as television sets also contain gold. Humankind has known silver since prehistoric times like gold because silver occurs in native form. The metal is found in the Earth's crust in the pure, free elemental form native, as an alloy with gold and other metals, and in mineral such as argentite. Most silver is produced as a byproduct of copper, gold, lead, and zinc refining. Silver is very soft metal like gold also, it is the highest electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and the lowest electrical contact resistance of all metals (Habashi, 1997). 1. The investigation shows that the Pewee, Big Mary, and Windrock are the most important beds in Anderson County. About 73 percent of the known recoverable reserves of coal in the county are in these beds, and from them comes 94 percent of the production. The remaining reserves tabulated in this report are in the Joyner, Jellico, Coal Creek, and Poplar Creek beds, and 6 percent of the county production comes from these beds. No production is being reported at present from the Jellico bed, although it was mined years ago. 2. Known measured and indicated reserves in all beds, bared on a minimum thickness of 1/4 inches and on 1,800 short tons put acre-foot of coal in place, are estimated to be 170 million torts as of January 1, 1953 Of this total, 155 million tons is in beds 2S inches and more thick. Areas in each bed were omitted from the estimate because available data relative to the bed characteristics are too meager to permit making an estimate that conforms with the definitions of measured and indicated coal adopted for this study. Should future drilling or development prove reserves in these areas, such reserves should be added to they total estimated reserves.
