"Dadas las limitaciones económicas de los gobiernos locales y poco apoyo del Estado, la mina Poderosa recibe presión de la población para cubrir el déficit de servicios que requiere el distrito de Pataz y mejorar la calidad de vida de sus pobladores influencia. En ese sentido, la mina desarrolló un modelo de organización que busca fortalecer las capacidades de gestión y presencia del Estadoa través del proyecto que implica el fortalecimiento de los CODECOS mediante reconocimiento municipal e inscripción en registros públicos y la capacitación a los líderes y autoridades en talleres, pasantías y encuentros con expertos. Así, se mejora la relación con la comunidad de forma sostenible y armoniosa."

Nexa Resources está comprometida con el desarrollo de las comunidades campesinas del entorno de sus operaciones. En ese contexto se inserta el proyecto descrito en este artículo, el cual está orientado a mejorar la calidad de vida de las comunidades del área de influencia de unidad minera Atacocha (Pasco). El proyecto analizado incluye el fortalecimiento de habilidades y valores locales, el desarrollo de capacidades para acceder al mercado y una adecuada transferencia tecnológica y técnica para un manejo sostenible de los recursos pecuarios (vicuñas).

El modelo de “liderazgo por octógonos”, nace de la necesidad de generar una estrategia para visibilizar el liderazgo permanente en terreno de los líderes (caminatas gerenciales) y conocer el nivel de cumplimiento de los indicadores de seguridad y salud en cada una de las áreas. El ícono de los octógonos, tomo de referencia a los utilizados por el Ministerio de salud para identificar el riesgo a la salud de un producto, de la misma forma los octógonos (verde, amarillo y rojo) indican el nivel de cumplimiento e implementación del programa de seguridad y salud en cada una de las áreas. Esto logra un impacto visual por la relación al riesgo y la importancia en el cuidado de las personas.

Caterpillar and Fortescue Metals Group have moved forward with the delivery, installation and support of a complete Cat MineStar System at Fortescue?s Solomon iron ore mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The complete technology suite was implemented for the first phase of Solomon, the 20 Mt/a (22 million stpy) Firetail manned mine, in October 2012. As part of an autonomous mining solution for phase two, the 40-Mt/a (44-million stpy) Kings Mine, eight Command for hauling Cat 793F CMD trucks were commissioned and commenced operations in the second quarter of 2013. The mine plan calls for a progressive ramp up to 45 autonomous trucks during the next several years. In addition, other Cat MineStar System capability sets, Fleet, Terrain, Detect and Health, are being used across the mobile equipment fleet, including support equipment and light vehicles. Working closely with Fortescue and its mining contractor, Leighton Contractors, Caterpillar and the Cat dealer in Western Australia, WesTrac, are providing a full solution for managing, operating and supporting Cat MineStar System and Command for hauling. The greenfield Solomon Mine has brought together the skilled team from Caterpillar, Fortescue, Leighton Contractors and WesTrac to deliver an efficient, cost effective autonomous mining solution.
