An error has been noticed in one of the figures in the 1974 Jackling Lecture "The Henderson Ore Body-Elements of Discovery, Reflections" by Stewart R. Wallace, published in SME Transactions, Vol. 256, No. 3, September 1974, pp. 216-227. The horizontal scale shown on Fig. 5 of this article is incorrect. The horizontal and vertical scales should be equal, i.e., the horizontal distance shown as 1000 ft should be 2000 ft.

The experiences of Canex Placer Ltd. in establishing vegetation on a lead-zinc tailing pond are presented, hoping others with similar challenges will be benefited. History The tailing ponds are the result of 23 years of mining and milling operations, which ceased in August 1970. Roughly 7.9 million tons of lead-zinc ore were removed in that time. The ponds are located between Salmo River and B.C. Highway 3, about 8 miles north of Nelway near the Canada-U.S. border.

The Mining and Metallurgical Club of the University of Toronto held a very successful meeting at the Engineers' Club on Jan. 29, 1917. Interesting papers on the Arizona Mining Districts and on the Creighton Mine at Sudbury were read. Several members of the freshman class who have changed from other branches of engineering to mining have been taken into the Club, so that we are now booming. We are also making an attempt to have more of our members apply for junior membership in the Institute, and hope to report favorably along these lines in the near future. C. A. Nickel, copper, and elemental sulfur can be recovered from a low-grade pyrrhotitepentlandite type concentrate by leaching with HNO3 in a pressure reactor at moderate temperature and pressure. The bulk of iron is converted to an oxide. Same results can be achieved by leaching in an open vessel under a reflex condenser for an extended period of time.

If members have copies of these volumes which they can spare, the price of $3 per volume will he paid for them, if in good condition. If desired, a copy of the Index for Volumes XXXVI to LV will be given for one of these volumes of the Transactions and one dollar additional. For two volumes of the Transactions, a copy of the Index will he sent and the balance will be credited to the payment of dues.
