"Besides valuable metals of Cu, Sn, WO3, Zn, there are S, Ag, CaF2, In and so on in a complex ore deposit in south China (which belongs to Hu Nan Shizhuyuan Non-ferrous Metal Limited Liability). Although it proved reserve amounts to 3.5×107 ton, its crystal character limits its utilization in large-scale. It features complex relationships between valuable minerals, finest crystallized particle size, low-graded valuable metals (Cu 0.30%, Zn 0.5-0.7%, Sn 0.2%, W<0.1%). If only tungsten minerals are considered, it means WO3 grade is too low (the cut-off grade of WO3 is 0.1% in China). Only Cu and Sn minerals are recovered from 2006 and Cu recovery is less than 70%, Sn 15-20%. Other valuable metals of W, Zn, S and CaF2 were lost in the tailings. To make good use of the ore, the technology of fully recovering Cu, Sn, W, Zn, CaF2 and rare metals are in urgent need. After systematic researches, the flow sheet of "bulk flotation of Cu-Zn minerals at first, then Cu-Zn separation, then recovering sulphide by flotation, then recovering iron minerals by magnetic separation, then bulk flotation of Sn-W minerals after desliming" is developed. Furthermore, specific Sn-W collectors of BK411 and BK412 are applied into the processes and better indexes are obtained. The industrial indexes are listed as followings: the content of Cu, Zn, Sn, WO3 of ROM ore is 0.31%, 0.65%, 0.13%, 0.03%; Cu and Zn recovery are 82.23% and 37.79% respectively; 63.76% of Sn and 34.34% of WO3 go into the Sn-W bulk concentrates. Economic benefits are remarkable."

Coal plays an important role in the primary energy consumption of all over the world. In 2012, coal reached the highest share (29.9%) of global primary energy consumption since 1970. Coal burning mainly contributes to the emission of SO2, NOX, Hg and other impurities that jeopardize the future of environment. . Beneficiation before coal utilization is the most economical and effective technology for removing the hazardous material and gangue. In this paper, a novel process of dry beneficiation based on gas-solid two-phase flow composed of the compound dry cleaning separator (FGX), the air dense medium fluidized bed separator (ADMFB) and the vibrated fluidized bed with autogenous medium (VFB) is proposed. The main equipment and the flowsheet of the united system are described in detail. Separating principle of the FGX, ADMFB and VFB devices are all based on gas-solid two-phase flow. In FGX, gassolid suspension is composed of continuous gas flow and coal powder in feed coal. Large size coal (+6- 80mm) can be pre-separated effectively, and large size gangue can be removed effectively. Moreover, - 6mm particles fed serve as autogenous medium in FGX. The probable E value is 0.13 for -80 mm raw coal. In ADMFB, magnetic powder with -0.3 + 0.045 mm size fraction and coal powder in feed coal are compound medium solids. The separation density can be adjusted and controlled according to properties of raw coal. -50 + 6 mm raw coal can be cleaned efficiently, the probable E value is 0.05. In VFB, -6 + 1 mm coal can be separated. Generally, -80 mm raw coal can be cleaned efficiently in the united system based on gas-solid two-phase flow.

"Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a typically synthetic depressant and may be used as a depressor of pyrite. The modification of polyacrylamide may improve its physicochemical properties and performances. Sulfonated polyacrylamides (SPAM) with different sulfonation degree (SD) were prepared using sodium sulfite as the sulfonating agent, and the interactions of SPAM and pyrite were investigated by the adsorption experiment in this work. The adsorption tests of SPAM on pyrite were conducted as a function of sulfonation degree, pH value and contact time. Pyrite and SPAM were constructed and optimized through MS software. The interaction mechanisms of sulfonated polyacrylamide and pyrite were simulated by molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the adsorption capacities of SPAM at neutral and weak alkaline conditions are higher than that at acidic and strong basic conditions. The high sulfonation degree favors the adsorption of SPAM on pyrite surface. The adsorption process can be described best by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. Molecular dynamics simulations show that the adsorption of sulfonated polyacrylamide on pyrite is better than that of polyacrylamide. Sulfonated polyacrylamide can be used as a potential depressant of pyrite with the main interacting mechanism of hydrogenbond force.INTRODUCTIONPyrite is the most abundant sulfide mineral and often associated with valuable minerals such as galena, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, molybdenite, gold, diaspore as well as coal (Forrest et al., 2001; Jaiswal et al., 2015; Maier and Dobiáš, 1997; Qiu et al., 2017; Xin and Liye, 2010). Froth flotation is the most popular method to remove pyrite from valuable minerals. Pyrite could be floated as the flotation concentrate either by its hydrophobicity or activation by metal ions (Chandra and Gerson, 2009). What is more, pyrite could be seperated as flotation tailing by adding highly selective depressants including inorganic and organic modifiers. Polysaccharides polymers and lignosulfonate-based biopolymers are common natural organic depressants (Deng et al., 2017; Mu et al., 2016). While the synthetic organic products have proved to be particularly versatile in terms of molecule tailing capability and controlled structures (Boulton et al., 2001a; Raffa et al., 2015)."

The shortage of water supply in some regions of the globe is particularly problematic and forces mining companies to adopt alternatives like pumping sea water from the ocean up to the mining sites. Although deaeration of sea water or the use of lined pipelines are known options to prevent corrosion during pumping, a recent development of a new corrosion inhibitor allowed the use of simple mild steel pipelines for this purpose. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the recent advances of this technology in protecting against not only general corrosion but localized corrosion, main cause of corrosion-related pipeline failures. Corrosion studies were carried out using electrochemical techniques, weight loss balance as well microscopy surface analysis in order to measure and therefore evaluate the treatment efficiency. The right dosage of corrosion inhibitors may vary depending on water composition and characteristics of each system. Differences were observed depending on the sea water source. Pretreatment of metallic surface impacts the observed corrosion rate which can be as low as 3.6 mpy. The absence of pitting or localized corrosion was achieved in aerated seawater.

The depression of pyrite in marmatite flotation by a new depressant Sodium Glycerine-xanthate (SGX) has been investigated through microflotation, zeta potential, and adsorption measurements in systems open to the atmosphere. The flotation tests of single mineral show that in the presence of SGX, marmatite can be activated by Cu2+ and shows good flotability, while pyrite can?t be activated and therefore shows poor flotability, as a result these two minerals can be separated using butyl xanthate as the collector. The depression mechanism of SGX on sulfide minerals is discussed based on Zeta potential and adsorption isotherm. Zeta potential experiments demonstrate that at the presence of Cu2+, SGX can strongly adsorb on the surface of pyrite, while it can?t adsorb on the surface of marmatite, thus the results are in accordance with those of flotation experiments; the results of adsorption isotherms show that the adsorption density of SGX on pyrite is greater.

The internal parameters of ball mill are very important in the grinding process and have significant impact on the grinding results. Accurate measurement of the internal parameters of ball mill is crucial and indispensable for optimization and control of grinding process. In this paper, a novel tri-sensor measurement method was used to measure the external signals (i.e., bearing pressure, sound intensity and power consumption) of ball mill. Mathematical models, which link the external signals of ball mill with its internal parameters, were established to predict the internal parameters of ball mill. Experimental results showed that the mathematical models could directly predict the internal parameters of ball mill once the external signals were obtained. The tri-sensor measurement method and the mathematical models proposed in this paper provided a new way and solid basis for optimization and control of ball milling.

The superior characteristics of iron ore pellets compared with natural ore and sinter are well known. Due to the higher grade and bulk density they show improved transport and material handling properties. While charging blast furnaces with pellets an increased productivity is realized through pellet?s uniform structure and composition. The increased productivity is caused by a high permeable furnace burden with a decreased coke usage via fuel injection and oxygen enrichment. Therefore, a narrow pellet size distribution and a minimum content -6.3 mm are necessary (Meyer, 1980). The required pellet size distribution can be achieved on the one hand by screening the fired pellets after the induration furnace and recycle the undersized pellets. On the other hand it is possible to produce high quality iron ore pellets with a high degree of sphericity, the important narrow grain size distribution ranging between 9 to 16 mm with high green strength directly in the pelletizing device. To produce high quality green pellets, possibilities and knowledge about adjustments of the pelletizing device are necessary. The paper presents a classification of state of the art pelletizing systems in accordance with the advantages of the pelletizing disc and pelletizing drum in issues like adjustability, green pellet quality, the recycling rate and the space requirement. By a systematization of the influences on pelletizing the common reliance of objectives on influence like pelletizing moisture, disc inclination, rotational speed, mass flow and rim height are given. Around 90% of the chromite resources of India are concentrated in the Boula-Nuasahi Sukinda belt of Orissa state. In order to conserve these valuable ore resources strategically, several companies established chrome ore beneficiation plants in this region. The general beneficiation process in these plants consists of gravity unit operations such as Floatex density separator, spiral, wet shaking table etc. Most of these gravity circuits suffer huge losses of valuable minerals in the tailing. Any attempt towards decreasing these losses would not only increase the limited reserves in India but also make the economics of the operations more attractive. Apart from the liberation phenomena, in many of the operating plants considerable quantity of values are lost in the tailings, due to inconsistent feed quality, inappropriate selection of operating and design parameters. Mineral engineers in this regard have to play a proactive and continuous role to improve the performance of all separating units by modifying even small changes based on tests conducted in laboratory under controlled conditions followed by attempts to make necessary changes in the plant. For such improvements, accurate data collection and proper data interpretation followed by making necessary change which is implementable in an operating plant play a very critical role in performance of the circuit. Databank collected over a period of time under various conditions would also help in overcoming the future problems related to either variation in the feed characteristics or specific demand by metallurgical industries. The above concept was adopted in one of the operating chromite beneficiation plant at Sukinda. The approach adopted and practical problems encountered during the study were reported in this paper. The result of trial campaign has shown that, an overall product assaying 30.2% Cr2O3 from the feed (18% Cr2O3 ) can be produced to in single stage. The nitrate content is an important factor for environmental water samples and flour. In a 0.35 mol/L H2SO4-2NO solution, has a strong catalyzing function on the decolourization of Gallocya-nine (GC) oxidated by NaBrO3. Based on this, a novel method was developed to measure the NO and -3NO concentrations in water and flour. The flow injection technology was introduced into the analysis system. A single-valve dual- cingulums to inject which the Copperized-Cadmium slice and the reduction zone are isolated. The optimum solution for this method contains 1.48×10-4 mol/L GC, 0.06 mol /L NaBrO3 and 0.2 mol /L of NH4-2NOCl. Two empirical equations were proposed to calculate the and -3NO concentrations based on the measured signals. It can be used to measure -2NO of from 0.001 mg / L to 2.0 mg/L and -3NO of from 0.002 mg / L to 2.5 mg/L. The measurement frequency can be up to 20 samples / h. The relative standard deviation for eleven samples is less than 5%.

The coal bottom ash generated from coal-fired power plant accounted for approximately 5 mil-lion tons in Korea. Almost all of coal bottom ash was treated as reclamation of the landfill because of the content of unburned carbon. For recycling of coal bottom ash, effective removal of that is required. So, in this study, the removal of unburned carbon by flotation was studied with respect to adsorption ability in surface of a bubble in order to consider its application to recycle the coal bottom ash. The sample A, B and C were that the coal bottom ash contained 2.73%, 7.01% and 10.49% of the unburned carbon (UC) respectively. The column flotation was carried out for each time as the artificial injection of air at 10.0L/min flow rate and the reagents of 500g/ton kerosene and 80g/ton MIBC were used. The samples per water of 1.3 liters were from 0.5% to 4% (w/w.%). In the result of this study, the kinetic curves of unburned carbon adsorption from injected air bubbles were in-creased rapidly as equilibrium was approached; only 5 sec was needed from the sample A and B and 10 sec was from sample C. And the equilibrium isotherms of unburned carbon adsorbed by the infected air bubble from the sample B and C could appear the BET adsorption isotherm; MT = KMEEO/(EO-E)[EO+(K-1)E](K: adsorption affinity), but not the sample A that was not enough to express the adsorption curve.

"The geological environment of the certain uranium-molybdenum deposit is very complicated. While the study of process mineralogy is relatively few, which restricting the processing and leaching effect of ores. According to reaserch on process mineralogy of this mine, the basis of ore processing can be provided. The main contents of research are the uranium occurrence state and the influence of H2O2 in acid leaching. By various methods and experiments, the process of uranium mineralogical characteristics in this deposit are systematically studied. The results show that the uranium is mainly in the form of independent uranium minerals. The structures of these uranium minerals are venous and disseminated in mineral fissures, or microgranular inclusions in quartz and feldspar. It is not appropriate to concentrate the uranium minerals by flotation beneficiation because that the loss rate of target metals via water leaching process is very high. The ores are suitable for being acid leaching directly with 6% – 8% of H2O2, and the maximum leaching rate of uranium can be 96.88%. INTRODUCTION The uranium ores with associated elements have a large proportion in uranium resources (Lei, et al., 2014, Xing, et al., 2006; Ritchy and Wong, 1985). The uranium and molybdenum are easy to be paragenesis in nature enviroment because of their similar chemical properties. Therefor the uranium-molybdenum associated deposits are widely existing, such as the sedimentary sandstone uranium deposit in American with vanadium and molybdenum, the sedimentary sandstone uranium deposits in French with vanadium (Chen, et al., 2014; Lounis, 1997). A certain epithermal porphyry uranium-molybdenum deposit in China is mainly controlled by the subrhyolite- porphyry and the fault zone (Lv, 2012; Rui, 2010; Liu, et al., 2010). The ore properties of this deposit are complex, which include the high alteration degree, and the fine grain size of the target minerals (Ma, et al., 2013). The ore properties and occurrence state are quite different during each mining stage. As a consequence, the consumption of reagent increased and the leaching rate declined as long as the continuously mining. The author explored the best leaching rate of target elements According to the basic research on process mineralogy of present ores, experimental study of water leaching and oxidizing acid leaching on different particle sizes."

"An optimization method of microwave assisted leaching of copper anode slime was proposed based on Taguchi method. The results showed that the solid-liquid ratio was the most important factor affecting SNR(signal noise ratio) of the copper, tellurium and selenium leaching efficiencies, and its contributions to the copper, tellurium and selenium leaching efficiencies were 58.34%, 55.54% and 60.74%, respectively. Solid-liquid ratio was a significant factor to SNR(copper, tellurium and selenium). Reaction period was a less significant factor to SNR(copper and tellurium) and concentration of sulphuric acid was a less significant factor to SNR(selenium) while microwave power was an non-significant factor, its contributions to the copper, tellurium and selenium efficiencies were 3.22%, 11.73% and 12.73%, respectively. The optimized parameters of the microwave assisted leaching of copper were as follow: microwave power of 500 W, reaction period of 10 min, solid-liquid ratio of 0.10 g·mL-1 and H2SO4 concentration of 1.0 mol·L-1. The optimized parameters of the microwave assisted leaching of tellurium and selenium were as follow: microwave power of 800 W, reaction period of 15 min, solid-liquid ratio of 0.10 g·mL-1 and H2SO4 concentration of 1.0 mol·L-1. The validation experiments under the optimized conditions has been carried out, the copper, tellurium and selenium leaching efficiencies were 98.66%, 84.32% and 64.54%, respectively. INTRODUCTION As important valuable by-products, copper anode slimes are collected from the bottom of the electrolytic bath in the electrolytic copper refining process(Kilic, 2013). The value of the anode slime is determined by the content of rare metals and precious metals(Liu, 2014). Generally, pretreatment of copper anode slime is the first stage of the whole process. The aim of the pretreatment process is to remove Cu, Te and Se etc and enrich the valuable metals. The methods of pretreatment process can be differentiated into: pyrometallurgical processing and hydrometallurgical processing(Amer, 2003). The hydrometallurgical processes are more promising compared to pyrometallurgical processes in terms of cost effectiveness, low energy consumption and environmental concerns(Ranjbar, 2014). However, the disadvantages of the hydrometallurgy process are evident, such as lengthy processing times and low efficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a highly efficient and environmentally friendly pretreatment method."

Solvent extraction of gallium from Bayer solution of Jajarm Alumina plant was investigated us-ing Kelex100 as extractant. Taguchi experimental design method was used in order to optimize the separation factor of Ga and Al. Optimum conditions were obtained as follows: Temperatuer: 65°C, volume ratio of aqueous phase to organic phase: 3.0:1.0, process time: 60min and organic phase containing 15vol.% Kelex100, 5vol.% isodecanol in kerosene. In this conditions, 74% gallium and 0.3% aluminum was extracted and separation factor was obtained 828.63.

Recovery of nickel and chromite from the tailings has been studied on the samples with 0.214 % Ni and 5.10 % Cr2O3 content and taken from Orhaneli Chromite Concentration Plant. Mineralogical examinations of the samples showed the existence of chromite, olivine, pyroxene, chrysotile, anti-gorite, chlorite, idingite, tremolite and calcite together with trace amounts of millerite, pentlandite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, hematite and limonite type iron oxide minerals in partially serpantinized dunite type particles. In order to recover chromite from Chromite Concentration Plant tailings Mozley Table and Knelson Separator are used and concentrates containing approximately 42% and 46% Cr2O3 are produced respectively with 40% recovery. Most of the nickel remained in the tailings. Therefore, acidic leaching tests are performed in order to dissolve nickel from these tailings. Effects of particle size, acid concentration, temperature, leaching time and solid/liquid ratio on the nickel leaching efficiency are investigated. The optimum leaching conditions are found as 250 g/L acid concentration, 1/5 solid/liquid ratio, 2 hours of leaching time and 60°C temperature, almost all nickel is dissolved at the optimum conditions and acid consumption is about 841 kg/t. Repeated leaching tests are carried out in order to have enough Ni content in the leach liquor for the further treatment of solutions. After repeated leaching tests, leach liquor contains 3 kg/m3 Ni, 48 kg/m3 Fe, 2.2 kg/m3 Si, 23 g/m3 Cr and 590 kg/m3 H2SO4. Ni is recovered from that solution by precipitating with H2S followed by HNO3 dissolution and precipitating Ni as hydroxide with 63% Ni content. Leach cakes are subjected to the gravity separation (Mozley table) to recover the remained chromite and a chromite concentrate with 47% Cr2O 3 content is produced with 53% recovery. As a result of the abovementioned tests, a conceptual process flow sheet is proposed for the treatment of these chromite concentration plant tailings.

Estimation of rock composition in mineral plants is important to determine rock size and grindability which in turn may improve control of the grinding process. Variations in ore grindability and size distribution directly affects mills power consumption and throughput. Therefore, it is desirable to develop new tools to estimate rock lithological composition. In this paper, a new method for lithological classification based on machine vision is proposed. The method is based on a single video camera and employs information about texture using several different spatial scales. Texture information is extracted from rock images using Gabor filters that can be adjusted at different spatial scales and orientations. After feature extraction, rock images are classified using support-vector machine (SVM). The method was tested on a database containing sub-images of 64x43 pixels of five ore types as follows: massive sulphide (MS), disseminated sulphide (DS), net textured (NT), gabbro (G), and peridotite (P). These ore types were assigned to three grindability classes: soft (MS), medium (DS and NT) and hard (G and P). The database was divided in 2 subsets for training, cross validation, and for test. Classification accuracy is compared with previously published results on a dataset with three different classes of rocks according to their hardness. Results show that our proposed method reached significant improvements (between 13%-20%) in classification accuracy relative to previously published results. "Oxidized nickel ores are important source for nickel production in Russia. Considerable explored reserves of oxidized nickel ores with relatively low nickel content, about 0.6-1.4%, are concentrated in the Ural region of Russia. Conventional process flowsheet with the use of blast matte smelting, applied in particularly by JSC “Ufaleynickel”, proves itself as extremely low-margin technology. This paper will examine development of a new more cost-efficient process involving integrated treatment of oxidized nickel ores using the ore from Serovskoye deposit as an example. Target products of this process are hydrate residues containing up to 15 % of nickel and 0.3 % of cobalt, as well as saleable salts of magnesium sulphate and ammonium suplphate. This innovative process includes roasting of a mixture composed of ground ore and sulphuric acid at 650 °?. Sulphate roasted product is then leached in a weak sulphuric acid solution with the following separation of liquid from insoluble solids. Sulphate solution is neutralized by aqua ammonia in two stages until media pH is 3.0-3.5 and 7.5-8.0 with detachment of iron- and nickel-bearing hydrate residues respectively. The mother solution is boiled out resulting in salt crystals which are then dried and roasted at 500-600 °? to obtain magnesium sulphate. The gases generated during salts roasting are captured with production of ammonium sulphate. The developed technology demonstrates higher potential in terms of its economics and eco-efficiency comparing with the conventional process. This innovative technology for integrated process of oxidized nickel ores was patented in Russia.INTRODUCTION Development and industrial implementation of efficient technologies to process oxidized nickel ores is a very important task for non-ferrous metallurgy of Russia. The main reasons for the required technical upgrade of the plants processing oxidized nickel ores is depletion of rich ores, increase of energy resources costs, amplification of environmental and production standards. Due to this, transition from conventional pyrometallurgy to cost-effective hydrometallurgical technologies of ore liberation and solutions processing is logical and corresponds to the worldwide practice of Ni production from oxidized nickel ores."

"The results of mineralogical and technological studies of platiniferous dunites from Svetloborsky zonal massif (Urals platinum belt) are presented and the basic typomorphic signs of productive mineral assemblages are substantiated. The characteristic features of platinum ore mineralization are revealed: a wide range of iron-platinum alloys, enrichment of ore-formed system by the elements Os, Ir, Rh and activity of the S and As in it, intrusion of Fe-Ni sulfides in platinum and its fusion with magnetite. More than 80% of PGM mineral grains has size less than 100 microns, that determines the possibility of significant losses of platinum in the process of gravity separation and the need for additional recovery processes for small and fine fractions of platinum tailings and sludge products. Summarized results of laboratory tests of small-volume sample processing of platiniferous dunites are presented and the processing flow sheet is developed and tested. The flow sheet incorporates several stages, including stage-wise grinding and gravity separation of ore using the centrifugal concentrator Knelson KS-MD for differently sized material and flotation treatment of tailing products using new classes of reagents for additional recovery of PGM fines."

"Chelopech concentrator (part of Dundee Precious Metals) is located in central-western Bulgaria. The current process plant utilizes conventional primary crushing and SAG mill grinding, copper and pyrite rougher and cleaner flotation stages to produce a marketable gold-rich copper and pyrite concentrates. As in the most processing plants, the pyrite depression is carried out alkaline media using lime. The subsequent activation of pyrite mineral is achieved by adding sulfuric acid, which has an adverse effect on the flotation equipment. Therefore, a series of laboratory flotation experiment for activation of lime depressed pyrite by ammonium salts, such as ammonium chloride (NH4Cl), ammonium sulfate (NH4)2SO4 and ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3), have been conducted. The obtained results showed that ammonium bicarbonate proved to be the most appropriate reagent choice for pyrite mineral activation. These results are confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), performed to determine the surface chemistry of pyrite in its natural state, after lime treatment and subsequent treatment by NH4HCO3. The registered XPS spectra indicate that the hydrophilic phases on the pyrite surface could be efficiently removed by using the ammonium salt NH4HCO3. The industrial use of NH4HCO3 as an activator of lime-depressed pyrite is a possible alternative for sulfuric acid replacement as a most widely used pyrite activator. Flotation experiments with addition of 200, 400, 600 and 800 g/t from each of the studied ammonium salts have been conducted. Furthermore, the impact of the flotation pulp pH within the scope of 9.00 – 10.50 was also investigated. The obtained results from the laboratory flotation experiments, showed that the pyrite activation with ammonium bicarbonate is an excellent possibility for replacing the sulfuric acid as main pyrite activator reagent, in order to eliminate the gypsum accumulation during the flotation of pyrite in Chelopech concentrator.INTRODUCTION The Chelopech deposit, located about 60 km east of Sofia is one of the largest Cu-Au deposits in Europe. "Lithium discovered in La Vi deposit, Quang Ngai province in the Central of Vietnam was estimated with a reserve of approximately 1.5 million tones of lithium ore, which was characterized by mainly lepidolite with muscovite, albite, and quartz. This study investigated reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions of enrichment technology for lepidolite from the mined ore by flotation process, and producing Li2CO3 and LiCl from lepidolite concentrate by hydrometallurgical process. The significant conditions for froth flotation of lithium ore including particle size, pH of ore slurry, pulp density, chemical spending (collectors, activators, depressants, and frothers), stirring and flotation time were investigated. The identified reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions for froth flotation the La Vi lithium ore processed lepidolite concentrate containing up to 4 wt.% Li2O with a recovery of 87.61 wt.%. The processes of sulfation roasting lepidolite concentrate using FeSO4.7H2O, then leaching in H2SO4 solution, and removing impurities were carried out to prepare a pure lithium-bearing solution for producing Li2CO3 and LiCl. The products containing 99.05 wt.% of Li2CO3 and 99.02 wt.% of LiCl were obtained with recoveries of 82.97 wt.% and 85.77 wt.%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that lithium ore in La Vi deposit can be processed to produce commercial lithium products and lead the study to develop technology for a new industry of lithium processing in Vietnam.INTRODUCTION Lithium is the lightest metal, which has many superior properties in both metal and compound (such as Li2CO3, LiCl...) states since its discovery in 1817 by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson. Lithium is a favourable material for many high technology fields such as aerospace industry and chemical industry. Some industrial fields which present the main consumptions of lithium include ceramic, glass, aluminum alloy, lubricants, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, synthetic rubber, and pharmaceuticals. The worldwide production of lithium in 2014 was 31,700 tones, continually increased in 2015 of 5% presented 32,500 tones (USGS, 2016). The demand for lithium tends to increase because of the raising in consumption of lithium batteries. Lithium is mined from salar brines, mainly in Chile and Bolivia, but also from granites and pegmatites, which contain minerals with high lithium content such as spodumene - LiAlSi2O6 (Heinrich et al., 1978; Linnen et al., 2012); petalite - LiAlSi4O10 (Sitando & Crouse, 2012); zinnwaldite - KLiFe2+Al(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2 (Paukov et al., 2010; Kondás J. & Jandová J., 2006); lepidolite - K(Li,Al)3(Si,Al)4O10(F,OH)2 (Luong et al., 2013); and amblygonite - LiAlPO4F (Garrett, 2004)."

Mongolia has some of the world?s largest coal reserves with an estimated total coal reserve of over 150 billion tonnes. At present, over 90% of Mongolian electricity is produced by combined heat and thermal power stations. The main coal deposits used for Central power system&apos;s power stations are Baganuur, Shivee-ovoo lignite type coal and Shariin gol bituminous coal. In Mongolia almost 600,000 tonnes of coal combustion by-products are disposed of in waste ponds. In this research, we have thoroughly characterized Mongolian coal combustion by-products including fly ashes sourced directly from thermal power stations and ash retrieved from ponds. It was determined that fly ashes generated from Baganuur and Shivee-ovoo coal deposits are class C, while ash from Shariin gol coal is class F (according the ASTM C618). All ash products were characterized by chemical, mineralogical, granulometrical, porosity, FE-SEM and radiation methods. Fly ashes sourced directly from power stations were found to be more suitable for manufacture of geopolymers for building materials application and zeolite synthesis than ashes retrieved from ash ponds. The adsorption and porous properties of zeolitic compounds were measured and found to be suitable for adsorption of Cr6+ from simulated tannery waste water.
