Acid leach liquors from spent lithium-ion batteries employing lithium cobalt dioxide (LiCoO2) as a cathode active material contain valuable metals such as cobalt and lithium, as well as common metals such as aluminum and copper. The objective of this study was to develop a hydrometallurgical process providing a high selectively between aluminum, cobalt, copper, and lithium from hydrochloric acid solutions. Batch experiment results showed that selective hydroxide precipitation approach was not suitable because a significant amount of cobalt and lithium was co-precipitated with aluminum and copper hydroxides. In contrast, batch experiments and the subsequent data analysis indicated that the sequence of solvent extraction circuits using PC-88A, Acorga M5640, and tri-n-octylamine (TOA) extractants effectively separates four metals of interest. In the first circuit of the proposed process, copper was selectively extracted by Acorga M5640 at the pH 1.0-2.0. Aluminum, cobalt, and lithium remain in the aqueous phase. In the second circuit, aluminium is selectively extracted by PC-88A at pH 2.0-2.5. For the separation of remaining cobalt and lithium, Acorga M5640 provided higher separation efficiency compared to PC-88A single extractant and PC-88A/TOA mixed extractant. However, the stripping efficiency of cobalt from the Acorga M5640 organic phase was found to be low (less than 10 %). Therefore, PC-88A/TOA mixed extractant rather than Acorga M5640 is an advisable choice for the separation of cobalt and lithium. To comprehensively utilize the valuable resource in tailings, increase the economic benefit of mine, reduce the amount of tailings, prolong the service life of tailing dam, the comprehensive utilization of tailing resource is arousing the attention of more and more mines. Research of comprehensive recovery of feldspar and silica from Cu-Mo floatation tailings has been furthered. Technology of "De-sliming-Magnetic Separation-Reverse Flotation-Feldspar and Silica Separation" has been developed to utilize the resource. Slime is removed and reagents cost is reduced by de-sliming. The specific effective collector ZL is used in gangues reverse flotation, and GZ-818 is the collector in feldspar and silica separation. The grinding operation is vital to ensure the liberation degree of feldspar and to eliminate the reagents pollution on minerals surface. To a Cu-Mo flotation tailing assaying K2O 5.22%, Na2O 2.22%, Fe2O3 1.95%, Al2O3 12.05%, SiO270.66%, superfine K-feldspar and silica concentrates can be produced. The feldspar concentrate productivity is 29.67% assaying K2O 8.99%, Na2O 2.86%, Fe2O3 0.16%, Al2O3 16.99% and SiO2 68.92%. The silica concentrate productivity is 14.20% assaying 0.17% K2O, 0.04% Na2O, 0.01% Fe2O3, 0.55% Al2O3 and 98.17% SiO2. The technology provides technological reference model for the similar mines.

The slag was attempted to be converted into the adsorbent for phosphate removal from aqueous solution using the alkali fusion method. The slag was mixed with NaOH powder (NaOH / Slag = 1.6), and then the mixture was heated at 600 ? for 6 h to prepare the precursor. The precursor was stirred at room temperature in distilled water to synthesize the adsorbent, and the removal ability of the obtained adsorbent for phosphate from aqueous solution was investigated. The products, including hydrocalumite and calcite, were synthesized, and the removal efficiencies of the adsorbent for F- and PO43- showed higher than those of raw BF slag, especially removal of PO43- are excellent (99 %), while the removal of Cl- , SO42-, NO3- and Br- was minor. The adsorbent could remove PO43- selectively in the co-existing solution of Cl-, NO3-, F-, SO42- and Br-.The equilibrium adsorption capacity of the adsorbent for PO43- was extrapolated using Langmuir and Freundlich models, and experimental data are found to fit Langmuir than Freundlich. The calculated maximum adsorption capacity of the adsorbent for PO43- is higher than other adsorbent reported previously. The high affinity of the adsorbent for PO43- in aqueous solution was caused by the formation of hydroxyapatite [Ca5(PO4)3(OH)] and brushite [CaHPO4?2H2O]. This paper investigates the effect of energy input on the flotation of galena in a novel oscillating grid flotation cell (OGC). Oscillating grids generate near ideal hydrodynamic environments, characterised by turbulence which is relatively homogeneous and isotropic. Previous work was limited to quartz (-100 µm). Galena (-150 µm) was floated in the OGC at power intensities from 0.5 to 3 W/kg using 0.13, 0.58 and 0.82 mm mean bubble sizes (d10) and at three collector dosages. Results show that the effect of power intensity on flotation kinetics is strongly dependent on both particle and bubble size. For fine particles (-19 µm), increasing energy input increases the flotation rate at a low collector dosage but leads to an optimum at both the moderate and high collector dosages. For intermediate particles (+19-38 µm), increasing energy input has no effect on the flotation rate at the low collector dosage but leads to an optimum at both moderate and high collector dosages. For coarse particles (+38-150 µm), increasing energy input has no effect on the flotation rate at the low collector dosage and leads to a general decrease at both moderate and high collector dosages. Optimum conditions for fine particles are using small bubbles at a moderate collector dosage and an energy input of around 2 W/kg. Optimum conditions for moderate particles are using small bubbles at a high collector dosage and energy inputs of around 1.0 W/kg. Coarse particles do not benefit from agitation.

Laboratory and pilot-plant testing using a sample of gold-bearing semi-oxidized ore from a Russian deposit followed by a flow sheet and reagent flotation mode development to design a plant was carried out in IRGIREDMET in 2009-2010. According to the developed flow sheet low alkaline flotation conditions are recommended in order to activate the surface of sulfides. The pH lowering from natural (7.5-8.0) to optimal (4.6-4.8) value using sulfuric acid provides for an increase in gold recovery. Before CIL, a final flotation concentrate is pretreated using pressure oxidation. It was found that the use of recycled solutions from pressure liberation in order to create acidic conditions for flotation instead of sulfuric acid during pilot-plant testing is recommended. The flow sheet offers the detoxification of remaining pressure oxidation solutions together with the flotation tailings. The carbonates presented in the tailings significantly reduce the consumption of lime for detoxification and allows for the use of two tailings dams instead of three. The first is used for the tailings of flotation and pressure oxidation recycled solutions, which were detoxified together. The second tailings dam is used for detoxified cyanidation cakes of the flotation concentrate. It was found during pilot-plant testing that flotation under natural and acidic conditions provides for 88.9 percent and 93 percent gold recovery, respectively. 4.1Au percent increase recovery was achieved due to the reduction of gold losses with flotation tailings and better quality of concentrates.

Axis House manufactures and supplies alkylhydroxamate reagent of various carbon chain lengths for application in flotation of oxide copper and other minerals. As part of reagent performance improvement the structural factors of hydroxamate are examined by various analytical tools in particular with X-ray diffraction of single crystals. In a recent publication, the structure of n-octylhydroxamic acid and its corresponding potassium salt are presented with findings of hydroxamic functional group geometric preference, H-bonding, keto-enol tautomerisation, acid-salt aggregation and alignment of carbon chain. In this paper an example of branched alkylhydroxamate 3, 5, 5-trimethylhexylhydroxamate will be presented and compared with the result of linear alkylhydroxamate.

"Understanding adsorption mechanism of polymeric organic process modifierssuch as carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) on talc hasbeen a major challenge due to anisotropic nature of talc basal planes and edge surfaces. The main objective of this study is to investigate the adsorption of CMC on the basal planes and edge surfaces of talc.Smooth basal plane and edge surfaces of talc were prepared successfully by simple cleavage and sophisticated ultramicrotome cutting method, respectively. The prepared surfaces were characterized by atomic force microscope (AFM) imaging to be sufficiently smooth for colloidal probe force measurements using AFM. Anisotropic surface charge characteristics were determined,with the basal planes to carry a permanent negative surface charge and edge surfaces featuring a pH-dependent charge characteristic. The adsorption of CMC on talc basal plane and edge surfaces at pH 9 in KClaqueous solutions of various ionic strengths wasinvestigated by in situ AFM imaging technique. Themorphology of adsorbed CMC on talc basal planes and edge surfaces was found to be significantly different, due to different binding mechanisms involved. Interaction of CMC with the talc basal plane was found to bedominated by hydrophobic interactions while its binding with the talc edge surface was mainly through chemical complexation and hydrogen bond. The amount of CMC adsorbed on both talc basal planes and edge surfaces increased with increasing ionic strengthof solutions. The methodology developed in our study opens the door to probe polymer adsorption on anisotropic phyllosilicate surfaces, which can help us better understand the mechanism of polymer adsorption on specific mineral faces."

Drilling and Blasting are two important unit operations in the production cycle of a mine and a strong link exists between these two and other unit operations/subsystems like loading, transportation, and crushing. Under the present concept of ? Mine to Mill?, it is important to optimize the drilling and blasting operations by applying scientific approach to drilling and blasting using sophisticated instruments and new technologies, which depends heavily on Information technology (IT) to meet this imperative. Development of innovative models and software has lead to blast optimization process. Till date, the blast results are evaluated in terms of available empirical approaches like powder factor, which are too simple to exclude some key parameters or lack in providing reliability because of non-availability of user friendly IT enabled techniques. Although with the help of developed approaches, formulation of user-friendly software to assist the site engineers in effective post blast assessment has started but there is a dearth of holistic approach to design an optimum blast considering the techno-economic feasibility of the subsystems and the geo-mining conditions to achieve blast optimization. The science of IT enablement in drilling and blasting is capable to build innovative models for achieving blast performances which will be doped with productivity, economy and safety with due regard to environment. The present paper discusses the use of existing IT enablement in various mines of India citing the Indian scenario and the future requirements for achieving the techno-economics in overall mining operations.

Pneumatic transport systems play a vital role in conveying discrete particles over a sizable distance with minimal energy consumption. However if such a system is not designed keeping particle physics in mind, it leads to intractable problems which could possibly assume dangerous proportions, including but not limited to expensive redesign of the entire system. This paper describes a novel method, which harnesses the powerful technique of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to investigate a problem occurring in rotary kilns using coal as a major fuel source. In some of the sites, a unique phenomenon of abnormally high CO emission was observed and owing to the highly random nature of occurrence, it was difficult to scientifically investigate the problem and its cause. Most of the published solutions for the high CO problem tend to concentrate on the incomplete combustion aspect of the kiln and resolve the situation by increasing the air supply thereby improving the stoichiometric ratio of combustion. This paper offers an alternate correlation that relates high CO emissions to the phenomenon of coal delivery fluctuations caused by the sub-standard operation of the coal transport system. A CFD model for the coal delivery pipe is validated by utilizing the actual process data sourced from the measurements taken from a functioning plant. The results of the model are used to derive correlative conditions that point to the unstable operating conditions of the coal delivery pipe prevalent in the industry. The conclusions are summarized into a series of recommendations for optimized design of coal delivery systems which are implemented in a pilot plant. The results irrevocably prove a statistically significant reduction in CO emissions without resorting to increased air supply and power consumption. It has been experimentally demonstrated that the application of electrokinetic techniques in the continuous flow of coal-water suspensions within a helical anode-cathode pipe geometry effectively causes a significant reduction in the wall shear stress. This reduction in the frictional force at the cathodic pipe wall surface is attributed to a decrease in the concentration of coal particles in this flow region caused by the migration of negatively charged coal particles towards the anodic surface(s). The disadvantage of flow-intrusive geometries is the reduction in effective flow area as well as an increase in frictional surface area caused by the placement of the anode(s) within the flow region. Experimental data is presented for a non-intrusive helical anode-cathode geometry embedded in the pipe wall which shows that a reduction in pumping energy of approximately an order of magnitude is possible. A sample of sub-bituminous black coal fines having a mean particle size of approximately 17 microns was used to prepare coal-water suspensions with a solids concentration of 50%(w/w). The practical and economic implications of this work relate to an enhanced method of long distance transportation of slurries in pipes as well as an alternative technique for continuously separating solid-liquid suspensions.

Nowadays the optical sorting of industrial minerals is one of the most important processing methods which has cost efficient production possibilities. This method is used for industrial and raw materials that have different colour and brightness features. Initially this technology is used for sorting of foodstuffs and recovered glass, but for a long time also as physical mineral processing method for both industrial minerals like: limestone, marble, talc, basalt, flint, quartz and secondary raw materials like: building rubble, refractory materials, glass, plastic and household waste. In this study via optical sorting the separation of quartz out of a flint mix, which consists of the particles with different colors and brightness, is aimed. Experiments are performed on an optical sorting machine named CombiSense® 1200 at the institute of ?Aufbereitung mineralischer Rohs-toffe? RWTH Aachen. This automatic picking device was developed by the company ?Separation Systems Engineering (SSE), Wedel?. Hand picking method is used for product analysis and the efficiency tables are prepared on every step accordingly. This process enables to reach quartz products with purity up to 100%.

In mineral processing, the settling of mineral particles in water, the flow of ore pulp, the dewatering and filtering of concentrates and so on, are related to the pulp viscosity. While the interaction between mineral particle surface and water affects directly the pulp viscosity. Therefore, it is of great value to the development of mineral processing theory to research the effect of mineral particle surface on the water viscosity in boundary layer. In micro-fluid, the effect of mineral particle surface on the water molecules in boundary layer can not be ignored. The water viscosity in boundary layer and the effect of the nature of mineral particle solid surface on the viscosity are analysed based on the deduction of attraction potential energy formula of mineral particle surface to the water molecules in boundary layer. The results show that the attraction potential energy of mineral particle surface to the water molecules in boundary layer is determined by the properties of solid molecules and fluid molecules and varies inversely as the third power of the distance from mineral particle surface. The water viscosity in boundary layer consists of the viscosity of free water and the additional viscosity resulting from the attraction of mineral particle surface. The increment of the viscosity caused by the attraction of mineral surface is µs. This additional viscosity is also inverse ratio to the third power of the distance from mineral particle surface. The greater the dipole moment, the polarizability and the ionization energy of mineral particle solid surface molecules are, the higher the attraction potential energy of mineral particle surface to the water molecules and the water viscosity in boundary layer are. The thicker stationary water boundary layer is d0. The higher the µs is, in other words, the greater the attraction of solid surface to water molecules is, the thicker the stationary water boundary layer becomes when free water viscosity is constant.

"The extractive metallurgy of precious metal ores involves gravity concentration, flotation and cyanide leaching. Pre-oxidation, such as roasting, autoclaving, bacterial oxidation and other techniques, is required for processing refractory ores. Selection of the process is mainly driven by the grade, reserve and mineralogy of the target elements. The concentrations of precious metals in the crust are extremely low and highly variable, resulting in ore variability in many gold, silver and PGE deposits. More importantly, precious metals in an ore may occur in two or three forms (i.e. microscopic, submicroscopic and surface-bound), making ore processing of precious metals extremely challenging. The objective of geometallurgy and process mineralogy is to reduce and minimize the technical risk in project evaluation, process selection, mine planning and production forecasting through geometallurgical modelling, representative sampling and subsequent systematic mineralogical characterization and metallurgical testwork. Geometallurgy is a technique to document variability within an orebody and quantify and evaluate the impact of many factors including geology and mineralogy on grinding, flotation, leaching and metal recovery processes, while mineralogy is one of the major predictive and trouble-shooting tools for many new mineral projects and operating mines. This paper presents an overview of fundamentals, methodologies and techniques applied in geometallurgy and process mineralogy and highlights the importance of both disciplines in process selection and plant optimization with applicable case studies. INTRODUCTION Precious metals, including gold, silver and platinum group elements (PGE) occur in various geological settings and ore types. The concentrations of these metals in the crust are extremely low and highly variable, resulting in ore variability in many gold, silver and PGE deposits. More importantly, precious metals in an ore may occur in two or three forms (i.e. microscopic, submicroscopic and surface-bound), making ore processing of precious metals extremely challenging. Process selection is most important in any precious metals project and is mainly driven by the grade, reserve and mineralogy of the target elements. Free-milling ores, such as Kupol in Russia, Hemlo in Canada, Grasburg in Indonesia, UG-2 in South Africa, Lac des Iles in Canada, and Noril’sk in Russia, can be processed using flotation or cyanidation with or without gravity. B2Gold Corp, a Canadian gold company, just started a number of new and under construction free-milling gold operations such as Fekola mill in Mali, Mastbati mine in Philippins and Otjikoto mine in Nambia. However, refractory ores (particularly gold ores), such as the Carlin and Goldstrike mines in the USA, Giant in Canada, Pueblo Viejo in Dominican Republic, Porgera and Lihire in PNG, Kittilla in Finland, Fairview in South Africa and Shuiyindong in China, must be processed using pre-oxidation prior to cyanide leaching. In some mildly refractory gold ores, such as Kumtor mine in Kyrgyzstan and KCGM in Australia, ultrafine grinding is required to liberate fine-grained gold particles. For some gold ores containing both free-milling and refractory components (such as Cripple Creek mine in Colorado, USA), two or more recovery processes may be required. The variability of grade, metal deportment, ore hardness and other parameters is one of the risks that encountered in development and operation of many precious metals projects. To minimize and reduce the technical risk caused by ore variability, geometallurgy and process mineralogy have been used by mining companies in the last two decades to measure and quantify the spatial variability of the deposits that are being developed. Geometallurgy aids the understanding of ore body variability but has the most value if the data is easily available along the entire mining value chain. This requires cross-discipline communication and collaboration across traditional silos, and an organizational culture that encourages that to flourish. Data that are collected by the numerous groups (i.e. mining, geology, milling, processing, refining, smelting, marketing, environmental etc.) involved in the mining process may have relevance to other stakeholders; mineralogical and textural data for example has value to all these groups. Data required for modeling comminution or identifying acid potential from waste rock may already exist, however it needs to be made available to all the relevant stakeholders in the right format at the right time. As part of the GeM (AMIRA P843 & P843A) project the opportunity has been taken during the sponsor meetings, short courses, case studies etc. to ask the question: ‚What information do you want from further up the chain?? For example, to metallurgists ‚What information would you like from the geology group before the ore enters the mill?? The geology group may already have information important to mineral processing but not know it is of interest. This could, for example, be in the form of a geometallurgical drill core log that contains quantitative measured values. This paper focuses on the interaction between the mining, geology, mineral processing and environmental groups, using ore properties resulting from geological alteration to identify potential impacts throughout the mining process and discusses how a cross discipline approach can benefit all.

A numerical study done to test the efficacy of heuristics developed for the design of measurement networks for high precision metallurgical accounting is presented in this paper. The heuristics considered were designed to maximise variance reduction of terminal stream measurements through data reconciliation for observable linear flow systems. A complex metallurgical process flow sheet from the mineral sands industry was used as a case study. Monte Carlo type simulations coupled with a non-linear programming based steady state data reconciliation algorithm were used as tools to investigate the heuristics. The results obtained suggested a close correlation between magnitudes of measured variances and the respective levels of variance reduction obtained through data reconciliation for both internal and terminal streams. It was observed that variance reduction through data reconciliation was maximised for terminal stream measurements in networks characterised by high precision measurement of internal streams and/or in flow sheets characterised by high ?stream to node ratios?. Terminal streams attached to highly interconnected parent nodes were observed to experience higher reductions in variance compared to terminal streams attached to less interconnected parent nodes. The results generally highlight the additional benefits of highly interconnected flow sheets and high precision internal stream measurement regimes on the maximisation of variance reduction of terminal stream measurements through data reconciliation. These findings are significant to metallurgical accounting and to process accounting applications in general in that they provide a conceptual basis for design decision making regarding the construction of measurement networks aimed at maximising variance reduction of targeted streams through data reconciliation.

Mechanical activation of gibbsite [?-Al(OH)3] is the theme of this paper. Industrially prepared gibbsite used in the study has a mono modal size distribution with a median size, d50=110 µm. Mechanical activation of this gibbsite has been carried out in a planetary mill at ambient conditions. Mechanical activated gibbsite samples are characterised in terms of particulate characteristics, structural characteristics and reactivity. As a result, of milling, mono modal size distribution of the unmilled gibbsite changes to a broad multimodal distribution. Size reduction has been sharp in the initial stages of milling; median size reduces to ~7 µm during 15 min of milling. Thereafter no decrease in median size is observed; rather it is found to increase gradually with further increase in milling time, indicating particle aggregation. Morphological studies of milled gibbsite have shown that the platelets forming the agglomerate are separated first; the separated platelets then undergo breakage. Aggregation of particles sets in the later stages of milling as a result of increased surface area and surface energy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies have clearly revealed the changes in gibbsite structure during milling. Analyses of XRD data show that the crystallite size of gibbsite decreases as the milling time progresses whereas its microstrain is found to increase. Accumulation of energy in the structure is the result in both cases. TEM micrographs with signs of defects leading to disordering of gibbsite structure complement the XRD results. Reactivity of milled gibbsite, decrease in its deydroxylation temperature and increase in alkali dissolution, is found to increase with mechanical activation. Increased reactivity of milled gibbsite is found to have a strong correlation with the BET specific surface area. "Lithium discovered in La Vi deposit, Quang Ngai province in the Central of Vietnam was estimated with a reserve of approximately 1.5 million tones of lithium ore, which was characterized by mainly lepidolite with muscovite, albite, and quartz. This study investigated reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions of enrichment technology for lepidolite from the mined ore by flotation process, and producing Li2CO3 and LiCl from lepidolite concentrate by hydrometallurgical process. The significant conditions for froth flotation of lithium ore including particle size, pH of ore slurry, pulp density, chemical spending (collectors, activators, depressants, and frothers), stirring and flotation time were investigated. The identified reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions for froth flotation the La Vi lithium ore processed lepidolite concentrate containing up to 4 wt.% Li2O with a recovery of 87.61 wt.%. The processes of sulfation roasting lepidolite concentrate using FeSO4.7H2O, then leaching in H2SO4 solution, and removing impurities were carried out to prepare a pure lithium-bearing solution for producing Li2CO3 and LiCl. The products containing 99.05 wt.% of Li2CO3 and 99.02 wt.% of LiCl were obtained with recoveries of 82.97 wt.% and 85.77 wt.%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that lithium ore in La Vi deposit can be processed to produce commercial lithium products and lead the study to develop technology for a new industry of lithium processing in Vietnam.INTRODUCTION Lithium is the lightest metal, which has many superior properties in both metal and compound (such as Li2CO3, LiCl...) states since its discovery in 1817 by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson. Lithium is a favourable material for many high technology fields such as aerospace industry and chemical industry. Some industrial fields which present the main consumptions of lithium include ceramic, glass, aluminum alloy, lubricants, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, synthetic rubber, and pharmaceuticals. The worldwide production of lithium in 2014 was 31,700 tones, continually increased in 2015 of 5% presented 32,500 tones (USGS, 2016). The demand for lithium tends to increase because of the raising in consumption of lithium batteries. "In the article there is set forth a development experience of JSC LEBEDINSKY GOK Beneficiation Plant concerning the plan of increase in the production volumes of the iron ore concentrate with Fe content more than 69.5%. There are considered the issues regarding implementation of the updated process scheme of the concentrate beneficiation using fine screening operation, its industrial tests have shown an exploitability of this development direction. There are described the issues relating to the ceramic filters for dehydration of the additionally-beneficiated concentrate, there are given the production and process figures achieved during the exploitation. The methods of the research. In the paper there have been used the following scientific research methods: the methods of system analysis, mathematical statistics, classification, comparison, modelling, observance, experiment. INTRODUCTION JSC LEBEDINSKY GOK is the largest leading enterprise for iron ore beneficiation and the unique RF producer of the merchant hot briquetted sponge iron (HBI) highly demanded by the consumers. Raw materials for hot briquetted iron production are fluxed pellets produced from iron ore concentrate with Fe content more than 69.5% (additionally-beneficiated concentrate). Strategic program of the plant’s development foresees expansion of production of the highly demanded products that imposes a necessity of expending capacity of the enterprise and implementation in production of modern processes and equipment having low resource intensity and ensuring in addition a high efficiency. Construction of the third stage of the HBI Plant became one of directions for the strategic development of JSC LEBEDINSKY GOK implemented in 2017 that caused a demand in the production volumes and filtration of the iron ore concentrate with Fe content more than 69.5%. Purpose of the work – to develop and to provide a rationalization for efficiency of the production process and filtration of the iron ore concentrate with Fe content more than 69.5% ensuring increase of production volumes and its prime cost."

"The apatite staffelite ores (ASO) of Kovdor deposit are dominated by fine-grained aggregates containing both phosphate minerals and silicates — vermiculite, smectites, zeolites. These minerals exhibit ion-exchange properties. In this connection, the magnitude of cation exchange, along with the content of P2O5 and CO2, is an important property of apatite staffelite ore, which largely determines the performance of concentration processes. In the examined ASO samples, the magnitude of cation exchange measured in terms of Ca2+ is 2546-4790 g/ton. The conducted laboratory studies of apatite staffelite ores with various mineral composition showed that adding calcined soda improves the recovery of P2O5 into the flotation concentrate. Full-scale tests were conducted at the apatite staffelite ore processing plant at Kovdor Mining and Concentration Operation and demonstrated the high performance of the proposed agent treatment. The test results showed that in the flotation of apatite staffelite ores, the optimum calcined soda feed rates range from 3,500 to 5,000 g/ton of the flotation feed. With close flotation feed and concentrate grade parameters, the P2O5 recovery gain is 17%. The effect of adding soda is associated with the desorption of the hardness cations from the minerals, precipitation in the pulp and, accordingly, improvement in the ionic composition of the liquid phase of the flotation feed due to a reduced content of calcium ions. Based on the test results, the proposed agent treatment with an elevated feed rate of calcined soda was implemented at Kovdor Mining and Concentration Operation in the flotation of apatite staffelite ore. The apatite staffelite ores (ASO) of Kovdor deposit are dominated by fine-grained aggregates containing both phosphate minerals and silicates — vermiculite, smectites, zeolites. These minerals exhibit ion-exchange properties. These minerals have certain properties requiring a more detailed examination for a better understanding of the flotation properties of apatite staffelite ores."

"The effects of pH value and dissolved oxygen(DO) in the pulp to the Eh and flotation recovery of pyrite were investigated using potential online detection system. The effects of DO on the Eh and flotation recovery were tested which DO changed from 0.5mg/L to 19.5mg/L in six different pH buffer flotation systems (pH: 4.00, 5.62, 6.86, 9.18, 10.01 and 10.96 respectively). Results of potential detected online demonstrated that the pyrite electrode has nearly the same response to potential as with platinum electrode for the FeS2-xanthate-H2O flotation system under the study conditions. Pulp potential and recovery of pyrite were remarkably influenced by pH, both of them decreased with the increasing of pH and, especially, sharp decreased after pH above 9. As the concentration of DO was increased, the Eh was also increased in all the six different buffer solution, while the flotation recovery was decreased. And the amplitude of variation for Eh was not obvious in acidic and neutral solutions, but on the contrary, the change for flotation recovery was remarkable in neutral and alkaline conditions. This may indicate that the flotation of pyrite will be deteriorated in alkaline and high DO concentration conditions."
