"Mikhailovskoye Deposit is comprised of oxidized ferruginous quartzites among other minerals with the former widely spread across the ore field and mined along with unoxidized ferruginous quartzites. PJSC Mikhailovsky GOK strategic development is aimed at iron ore product output expansion. The most critical item of the strategic development road map is process design for separation and concentration of hematite contained in oxidized ferruginous quartzites mined as the by-product in the open pit. Laboratory and semi-industrial tests run to design cost-effective, reliable and environmentally friendly process for Mikhailovskoye deposit oxide quartzites processing included the following processes: - pilot tests of reverse anionic flotation which produced concentrate with Fe60.1-62.9% total iron content and 66-69%Fe recovery rate; - combined magnetic separation and flotation (Marubeni Company, 1982) including slime removal, reverse anionic and cationic flotation and high gradient magnetic separation resulting in 48.9% yield, Fe55-57.5%, up to Fe60.5% hematite concentration ( Fe64.1% being the best result achieved),76.2% recovery. - magnetic separation and flotation, including separation in low gradient (1400 Oe) and high gradient (up to 17000-18000 Oe) magnetic field. The results of these pilots tests were the following: 57-59%Fe concentrate, 70%Fe recovery (Mekhanobrchermet, MGOK, 1982-1988): - magnetic roasting in pilot plant of TSGOK (Krivoy Rog) which produced 61.1%Fe concentrate with 81.5% recovery. Major disadvantage of the method is high generation of dust equal to 20% of the initial feed. Based on third-party studies flotation of oxidized ferruginous quartzites process embracing best processing methods was designed by Metalloinvest Management Company LLC and PJSC Mikhailovsky GOK engineers. This paper discusses analysis of studies aimed at intensification of separation processes with application of mechanical slurry agitation (MSA), addition of alkali (NaOH) and elutriation of initial feed. The paper also provides a design solution to implement a lab-scale MSA plant. It includes feasibility evaluation of MSA inclusion in flotation of oxidized ferruginous quartzites process to enable higher yield and hematite recovery in resultant concentrate. Outcomes of the discussed work have significant value for prospective engineering of OFQ concentration process."

"Processing of the tailings accumulated over the lifetime of Madneuli Copper Concentrator is an opportunity to extract additional salable copper and gold products. This paper presents a pre-concentration process for the valuable components (copper and gold) of the accumulated tailings. The developed process makes it possible to obtain a copper pyrite concentrate with a yield of 14.05%, copper grade of 1.36%, and recovery of 83.22% containing 3.78 g/ton of gold at a recovery of 84.31%. The bulk concentrate is produced by a combined process bringing together selective flotation to produce salable copper concentrate and hydrometallurgical processing of the selective flotation tailings to recover gold. KEYWORDS: FLOTATION, ALBION PROCESS, LEACHING, COPPER CONCENTRATE, SELECTION Madneuli Copper Concentrator, Georgia, was put into operation in 1975. Over its lifetime, 40 mn tons of tailings have been accumulated at the tailings storage facility (TSF). Sampling of the TSF has indicated that the average copper and gold grade is 0.23% and 0.56-0.65 g/ton, respectively. Accordingly, the TSF can be classified as a technogenic reserve. This paper discusses pre-concentration of valuable components using flotation, followed by processing of the bulk concentrate in the Albion process. Mineralogical analysis of the accumulated tailings showed that the main ore mineral is pyrite (11.71%). Copper minerals are mainly represented by chalcopyrite (0.7%). The main nonmetallic mineral is quartz (67.3%); sericite, chlorites, etc. also occur. Pyrite is present both as liberated grains and intergrowth. The absolute majority of copper minerals are found as intergrowth with pyrite, less often with quartz. Ore minerals are slightly oxidized. Chemical analysis results are shown in Table 1. Particle size distribution shows that the size class -0.2 mm - 0.045 mm has the highest grade of 0.85 to 0.97 g/ton of gold. Size class +1.25 mm has the lowest grade. Based on the chemical and mineralogical studies and particle size distribution, an optimized process was developed for pre-concentration of the valuable components prior to hydrometallurgical processing. "The grade of copper ore and concentrate is recently decreasing and it will continues decrease further in the future. The effective liberation treatment for low grade copper ore and the removal of arsenic from copper concentrate is becoming even more important. In this work, the magnetic separation of copper concentrate by heat treatment and the flotation of low grade copper ore by microwave irradiation was studied. The heat treatment of copper minerals in the air atmosphere, the magnetization of most copper minerals increases and especially the magnetization of chalcopyrite shows the largest magnetization, after being heated at 500 oC. The wet HGMS of copper concentrate has been studied and the results have then been compared with the ones when calcined concentrate was used instead. The microwave treatment before ball milling increased the degree of liberation up to 100%, especially when compared with the case when only ball mill was applied to the as-received ore. The flotation of ground copper ore after microwave irradiation showed that the grade copper minerals such as chalcosite and bornite in froth part is much larger than that of tailing part.INTRODUCTION The copper has been used many kind of technological fields and will be more important for the future technology. The global copper production from mine is predicted as shown in Figure 1 (Northey, S. 2014). The copper production peak will be appeared in 2030 and the demand peaks in 2040. In the future the recycling of stocked copper and copper alloy will be necessary to satisfy the demand (Yoshimura, A. 2018). Changes in the grade of copper in copper concentrate, exported from several countries are shown in Figure 2. The copper grade in copper concentrate after mineral processing is gradually decreases every year and it is less than 30% nowadays. On the other hand, the copper ore grade change and prediction are shown in Figure 3. The grade of copper ore is also decreasing to less than 1% in 2010 (Northey, S. 2014). In the future the copper grade gradually decreases, reaching to less than 0.5% in 2080 and the energy to produce the copper metal will increase. The effective liberation treatment for low grade copper ore and the removal of arsenic from copper minerals become more important, nowadays. The microwave irradiation of copper ore for the liberation, energy etc. has been reported by several researchers (for example, Batchelor, A.R. 2017). The magnetization change of copper ore by heating has been reported to remove the arsenic (Sawada, M 2015). In this report, the magnetic separation of copper concentrate by heat treatment and the flotation of copper concentrate by microwave irradiation are discussed after the characteristics of secondary copper minerals are investigated by these treatments."

"Interfacial chemistry plays a pivotal role in bubble-particle capture, for it controls whether or not attachment occurs. Surface heterogeneity, degree of surface hydrophobicity, bubble nucleation and related phenomena influence the stability of the aqueous wetting film between a particle and an approaching bubble. The latter must be unstable if capture is to occur. Various techniques that may be used to quantify this interfacial, chemistry-dominated behaviour, are described.The efficient capture of specific particles by rising bubbles and the delicate control of interfacial chemistry that leads to selective capture are central issues in froth flotation. For efficient capture to occur between a particle and a bubble, they must undergo a close encounter, a collision process dominated by hydrodynamics. Should this encounter bring the particle and bubble within the range of attractive forces, the intervening liquid film between the bubble and the particle will drain, leading to a critical thickness at which rupture occurs. The liquid-vapour interface then retreats over the solid particle surface until a stable wetting perimeter is established. The particle and bubble are then joined after this attachment process. The particle may only be dislodged from this state if it is supplied with sufficient kinetic energy to exceed the detachment energy in this detachment process. These various events are now well documented and may be followed using high-speed videomicroscopy (Schulze, 1984; Nguyen et al., 2001).The process of collision can now be described quantitatively for single bubbles colliding with bubbles under various flow regimes (Dai et al., 1998) and appropriate scale up is possible for multiple bubble particle collisions occurring under turbulent conditions (Pyke et al., 2002). In this paper we will be concerned with the role of interfacial chemistry and how this influences the attachment process."

"The proportion of refractory sulphide ores and concentrates in world gold mining industry is growing every year. Pressure oxidation of these materials (in autoclave) allows to oxidize gold hosting minerals. Traces of halides and pseudohalides present in the slurry liquids contribute to formation of complex gold compounds. Sorption-active carbon present in ores leads to irreversible adsorption of complex gold compounds and their loss. The objective of the research is to study gold extraction dependence on the concentration of chloride-, cyanide- and thiocyanate-ions in the slurry liquids during pressure oxidation. Double refractory flotation concentrate of the Bakyrchik deposit was used for the testwork. The research was planned on the basis of a full factorial experimental design with additional refining experiments. Ligand concentrations (0 – 1000 mg/l Cl-, 0 – 600 mg/l CN-, 0 – 1200 mg/l of SCN-), temperature (200 – 240 °?) and retention time (1 – 6 h) were used as variables of pressure oxidation process. It was determined that sulfide minerals oxidize much faster than ""organic"" carbon. Under the conditions of T = 240 ?C, t = 2 h, sulphide sulfur oxidation was 95.6%, while ""organic"" carbon oxidation was 46.1 %. Each of the examined ligands has a significant adverse impact on gold extraction. Analysis of the experimental data demonstrated that with a high degree of confidence (R2 = 0.883) gold extraction does not depend on the ligand type, but only on its concentration and the ""organic"" carbon oxidation degree. In case of complete oxidation of ""organic"" carbon, the presence of the ligand (L = Cl-, CNS-, CN-) in the liquids at a concentration of up to 20 millimole/L does not significantly affect gold extraction. The assumption that the main factor of preg-robbing in ???-CIL treatment of double refractory concentrates is the natural ""organic"" carbon sorption-active to gold has been confirmed. INTRODUCTION In recent decades, placer gold mining has been gradually declining and hardrock gold mining, including ""refractory"" gold mining, has been growing all over the world, as well as in the Russian Federation (http://www.miningworld.ru, 2015). One of the main reasons why gold ores are refractory is gold adsorption on natural carbonaceous materials (""organic carbon""). Only a few technologies are suitable for processing such ore concentrates (a significant amount of gold is contained in refractory hardrock ore both in Russia and worldwide) (Vorob'yev-Desyatovskiy N.V., Yepifanov A.V., 2014)."

"The paper presents the results of research on the development of gold and silver extraction technology from refractory gold sulphide flotation concentrate of one deposits of Nord-East of Russia. The concentrate is due to the complex mineral composition. Gold and silver are finely disseminated in sulphide minerals (arsenopyrite and pyrite partially oxidized by 7-11%). These are characterized by high content of silver 219 g/t and sulphide sulfur 32%, the presence of poorly soluble silver minerals (silver sulfosalts, fahlore, finely dispersed hypergenic acanthite in iron hydroxides and jarosite, etc.), and impurity minerals capable of interacting with cyanide (pyrrhotite, marcasite, nonferrous sulphides) and causing higher than normal cyanide consumption. Pretreatment of refractory sulphide concentrate by biooxidation using a mixed association of mesophilic and moderately thermophilic bacteria at a temperature of 36-40 °C for 120 hours oxidized arsenopyrite by 97.5%, pyrite by 93.5%, unlocked refractory gold, and generally oxidized the minerals absorbing cyanide and oxygen before cyanidation. Further oxidation of these minerals-absorbents was facilitated by the aeration in calcareous medium of the solid biooxidation residues of the concentrate. Sorption cyanidation of the solid biooxidation residues with addition of lead (II) of recovered 91.2% of gold and 82.9% silver from biooxidation residue, compared with 80.1% and 46.6%, respectively, for sorption cyanidation without the preceding biooxidation step. Biooxidation of the concentrate prior to cyanidation improves the recovery of precious metals, especially silver, and significantly reduces cyanide consumption from 18.7 kg/t to 3-5 kg/t of concentrate. INTRODUCTION Biooxidation of gold sulphide concentrates using acidophilic microorganisms has been successfully applied worldwide (van Aswegen et al., 2007; Gericke et al., 2009; Sovmen et al., 2007; Sovmen et al., 2009). At least 15 full-scale plants for tank biooxidation of sulphide concentrates are presently in operation, and the construction of new ones is planned (Bulaev et al, 2015)."

"In this paper, we present the study’s results of electrical separation processes on the basis of new separator designs, new technological solutions, and newly discovered effects. We considered the options of enrichment by magnet separation of magnetite and titanomagnetite ores, ores and products containing chromium and manganese, ores of non-ferrous and precious metals. During pneumo-electric separation of mixed iron ore of SMPC, 43.3% of the output of the concentrate with an iron content of 61.7% was obtained in one step, with extraction of 70.5%. The paper also presents the results of the finalization on the air-electric separator of the magnetic fraction when separating oxidized ores of MPPOO (mining and processing plant of oxidized ores) on the Jans polygrade magnetic separator. A concentrate was obtained with an iron content of 65.1% with the extraction of 95.0% and tails with an iron content of 13.0%. The possibility of obtaining low-silica concentrates from these ores with an iron content of 67.15 and a quartz of 2.88% is shown. Also, the results of tests on the enrichment of chromite ores on the firing-magnetic scheme with corona-electrostatic separation are considered. On the initial ore of the Don MPP (mining and processing plant), a concentrate with a content of 61.8% Cr2O3 was obtained with a quartz content of ~ 1.0%. The results of pneumo-electric separation with triboelectric charge of the separated particles are presented. The results of the tests indicate a principal possibility of enriching chromite ores without costly high-temperature roasting. Dry technology of enrichment of manganese ores with the use of electrical separation increases the quality of the oxidized concentrate to the first grade and raises the total extraction by 2 times. For the Chineya deposit of titanomagnetite ores with copper impurities, electroseparation operations were carried out on two samples with a Cu content of 1.93 and 3.75%, respectively. For a sample with a Cu content of 6.02%, a copper concentrate output of 24.42% was obtained with a Cu content of 23.82% and the extraction of 94.88%. The results of enrichment by electroseparation of gold-containing sulfide ores can have the practical importance. For ores of the Berezovskoye deposit, a pyritic concentrate containing 100 g / t of gold was obtained after two or three operations of IES (integrated energy systems)."

The use of secondary sources has become a very attractive option in the production of platinum group metals as the demand for these metals has increased. One of the promising sources are the spent catalysts, which provide an attractive source as they have relatively high metal content compared with the ores where the metal is originally extracted from. The concentration of platinum group metals in catalytic converters is in the range of 0.1-1 mg/g as the concentration in ores is usually less than 10 ppm. Aqueous chloride solutions are claimed to be a cost effective way in which platinum group metals can be brought into solution and concentrated. In this work the effect of different parameters on the dissolution rates of Pt, Pd and Rh were investigated. The parameters investigated were the Cl- concentration, the temperature and applied potential. Chloride concentrations used were 62.5, 90, 125 and 250 g/l. Temperatures were 25, 40, 60, 80 and 94°C. Potentials were 950, 1050, 1150 and 1250 mV vs. SCE for Pt and Rh and 380, 410, 440 and 470 mV vs. SCE for Pd. Dissolution rates were calculated from the current densities determined by potentiostatic measurements. Thin wire electrodes were used in the measurements. As expected, higher temperature, higher potential and higher chloride content generally increasedthe dissolution rate. However, the effect was nonlinear and slightly different for different metals. The results show that strongly oxidizing conditions are needed in order to achieve reasonable dissolution rates. With the highest chloride content and at potential of 1250 mV vs. SCE and 94°C the dissolution rate of Pt was nearly 1 mm/h, whereas in similar conditions Rh achieved a rate of only nearly 100 µm/h. Similarly, with the highest chloride content and at potential of 470 mV vs. SCE at 94 °C the dissolution rate of Pd was nearly 1 mm/h. Keywords: Pt, Pd, Rh, redox potential

Phenyl malonic acid (PMA), a new chelating collector, which contains a phenyl structure and a malonic acid chelating group, has been synthesized and its collecting capabilities to calamine, hematite, quartz and hemimorphite are also studied in laboratory. From the experimental results, it can be seen that the PMA has somewhat flotation ability to calamine, hematite and quartz, while it nearly has no collecting ability to hemimorphite. With the increase of PMA concentration, the flotation recovery of calamine increases. When the dosage of PMA was 560g/t and at pH=7~9, the flotation recovery of calamine gets its maximum of 45.94%. The test results about the influence of pH on the flotation recovery of quartz show that the flotation recovery increases with the increase of pH, and the maximal flotation recovery can be gained in alkaline media. On the other hand, PMA has stronger flotation capability to hematite than to other minerals. The flotation recovery of minerals increases with increase of PMA concentration. When the dosage of PMA is 560g/t and at pH=5~7, the flotation recovery of hematite is 82.96%. Mean-while, the influence of pH on the flotation recovery of hematite was studied and test results showed that, as pH increases, the flotation recovery sharply rises until pH=4, then the increasing rate de-creases outstandingly, at pH=6 the flotation recovery reaches its maximum of 82.96% and it de-creases speedily in alkaline media. Finally, through the measurement of infrared spectroscopy and in terms of solution chemistry of collector, the flotation mechanism has been discussed. It was concluded that the adsorption of PMA on minerals surface is chemical adsorption in nature through two oxygen atoms in the polar group of phenyl malonic acid chelating with the metal ions of minerals surface to form a hexagon-cycle chelate complex: C(=O)-O-M-O-(O=)C.

The ash contents in coal particles were examined in the paper dependably on particle size and its density. So, the two-dimensional regressive function Z=Z(?, D) was the searched object, where Z is random variable describing ash contents, ? - density and D ? particle diameter. This dependence is determined basing on experimental data concerning the coal of type 31. For this coal, the method of ordinary kriging is applied to calculate the values of a random variable Z. This method requires the proper selection of so-called variogram function, which 4 forms are considered in this paper in purpose to select the best solution. The given results were then evaluated by the residual deviation value and so compared with empirical data.

The results of the test work of four treatment options of three refractory gold-pyrite and gold-arsenic flotation concentrates are presented. These concentrates were obtained during the concentration of primary ores of large gold deposits. It was found that ultrafine grinding of refractory flotation concentrates did not increase the recovery of gold during subsequent cyanidation. The elimination of sulfur and arsenic during oxidative roasting is 99 per cent. 88-93 per cent of gold is recovered by cyanidation from calcines. After biooxidation of the flotation concentrates with a mixture of strains Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans 88-91 per cent of gold is recoverable by direct cyanidation. The recovery of gold from flotation concentrates by pressure oxidation is 88-99 per cent. These results suggest that gold recovery is important but the following strategies would have an impact on a plant performance and would be considered when developing an option to treat refractory ores: capital and operating costs, ore reserves, mine location, infrastructure and qualified staff. The major physical and chemical relationships of gold leaching were determined. Intensive cyanidation results of gravity concentrates with various material compositions using an activator are given. Coal mining activity is inextricably connected to waste production. These include coal slurries deposited in environment. Current knowledge in the field of mining and especially mineral processing allows extracting valuable fuel from deposit coal slurries. The article discusses of previous works devoted to coal slurries inventory in Jankowice Mine in Poland (Upper Silesia) and quality assessment of coal slurries. 12 samples of coal slurries deposited in waste pond of Jankowice Mine was taken for the investigation. Based on the differences in hardness and density of diaspore and aluminosilicate minerals which usually exist in Chinese diasporic bauxite, It is analysed that bauxite of this kind is difficult to be separated effectively by classification and normal gravity separation, and cyclonic centrifugal field was thus proposed to be carried out, in which classification can take place according to the size difference resulted from selective grinding, what?s more, the separation function according to density difference is expected to take effect at the same time, and then cyclonic separation tests for diasporic bauxite of A/S 4.39 and grinding 61.90% -0.074mm were carried out tentatively. The results showed that the accretion of feed pressure can offer strong enough centrifugal force for cyclonic separation with result that separation function according to density difference is effectively intensified, by the increasing of this parameter, underflow and overflow of A/S 7.64 and 2.18 can be processed at the same time, and the recovery of Al2O3 in underflow is 71.78%; judging by the flow ratio, the spatial locality envelope of zero vertical velocity do constringe to the vertical axis by the enlarging of diameter ratio of apex to vortex, overflow and underflow of A/S 2.08 and 6.5~7.0 can be processed by controlling this structural parameter, which is possible to offer a technological method for low-grade bauxite to de-sliming beforehand.

The interest in investigating the processing characteristics of mineral deposits in Norway has seen an upsurge in the last decade. One of the major areas of interest is a huge copper deposit, operated by NUSSIR ASA located in the Repparfjord Tectonic Window in the caledonides of west Finnmark. This study reports analysis of ore from the deposit for development and modifications in the flotation flowsheet for the NUSSIR ASA copper ore. The mineralogical characterization for the ore sample was achived by optical microscopy and Zeiss automated mineralogy while grinding characteristics were tested using Bond Index tests. The results confirmed the presence of Cu minerals in the form of chalcocite, chalcopyrite and bornite in the samples, which are mainly liberated in the – 105 µm size range. The majority of non-liberated copper sulphides associated with silica and the carbonates varies from 3 to 28 percent in the –250 µm samples . It is also observed that the copper minerals are uniformly distributed in all size ranges. Selective flotation of NUSSIR copper ore was performed in different size fractions with a motive to identify the correct liberation size and thus to obtain a copper concentrate meeting the quality requirements. The flotation experiments are essentially performed in two stages: the rougher and the cleaner stage. Mass balance calculations were performed showing that approximately 88 percent of copper can be obtained at the end of the process. Ultimately, overall circuit copper recoveries ranged between 83.5 to 88.1 % with a concentrate grade of 35 to 48 % Cu.

"Karagedik Chromite Concentrator of the ETI Holding Co., which is located in Fethiye (south Turkey), has been producing chromite concentrate assaying 47-48 % Cr2O3 from the chromite ores containing 30-35 % Cr2O3 by using gravity separation methods since 1920. The tailings having 13-14 % Cr2O3, which had been removed from this plant, were accumulated at the stockpiles amounting about 1.2 million tons. In order to recover the ultra fine chromite particles from the Karagedik Concentrator tailings, the new process including Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separation and column flotation, was developed and the Karagedik Research Pilot Plant based on this process was commissioned in 2000. At this plant, the final concentrates assaying 46-48% Cr2O3 were produced and overall plant recoveries are about 60-65%.At the chromite concentrators using gravity separation methods, if their material size is about minus 1.0 mm, chromite particles especially pass to fine fractions according to their mineralogical structures and the ore-genesis (Önal and Güney, 1990). Generally, after crushing and grinding, the shaking tables and spirals are used at the chromite concentrators; therefore fine size chromite particles (-0.038 mm) are removed as tailings. Cr2O3 content of the -0.1 mm size fraction with 52.3% of the total amount is 19.58 % with Cr2O3 distribution of 82.6%.In order to upgrade the minus 0.1 mm size fraction of the tailings, assaying about 20% Cr2O3, Karagedik Research Pilot Plant (KRPP), which includes Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS) and Column Flotation units, was installed by Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Mineral Processing Section in 2000.Feeding material of the KRPP having 5 tons per hour capacity is obtained from stockpiles amounting 1.2 million tons. After attrition scrubbing, the feed is sent to a screen with aperture of 1.0 mm. The screen overflow, assaying 5-6 % Cr2O3 is removed as tailings. Screen underflow is classified to –1.0+0.1 mm and minus 0.1 mm size fractions by using cyclone and sieve bend. –1.0+0.1 mm size fraction assaying 6-7 % Cr2O3, is sent to existing gravity separation plant. Minus 0.1 mm size fraction is firstly fed to WHIMS for pre-concentration and non-magnetic product assaying 10-11 % Cr2O3 consisting of serpentine, talc and olivine minerals are separated as tailings. Also magnetic product (25-30 % Cr2O3) obtained from WHIMS is fed to the two stages conditioners after dewatered to 30 % solid ratio."

The dissemination grain size of chalcopyrite is really fine and refractory grains of -10µm take up 25%. Dissemination relationships among chalcopyrite with pyrrhotite, pyrite, marcasite and gangue minerals are complex. Content of Fe-bearing sulphides and Fe-bearing silicates associated with chalcopyrite reaches to about 60%. It’s hard to liberate and separate chalcopyrite from pyrrhotite. The above four are the main mineral processing difficulties of a copper ore in China. Because of the similar floatability and poor separation effect between chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, enhanced depressing and collecting method was adopted in Cu-S separation before 2009. Due to the different magnetism among chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and Fe-bearing silicates, magnetic separation is creatively induced in Cu floatation circuit based on the in-depth study of process mineralogy. High efficiency and new Cu-S separation technology of "Rough concentrate regrinding-pyrrhotite rejecting from middling by magnetic separation" and a highly selective copper minerals collector YL-1 had been developed to solve the difficult problems of refractory Cu-S separation, which are heavy load of middling recirculation,difficulty in upgrading Cu concentrate, unstable locked cycle and low separation indexes. And grade of Cu concentrate has been increased by 3.33%, recovery of Cu and Ag has been increased by 19.32% and 10% respectively.

"A novel carbonaceous immobilizing agent for heavy metal contaminated soil was prepared from rice straw using sulfur immersion and pyrolysis, and the lead immobilization in artificial contaminated soils using sulfur-impregnated carbonaceous material was estimated. The rice straws were cut to 1 cm pieces, and then immersed in 0.1 - 1 M K2S solution for 0 - 24 h to prepare sulfur-immersed materials. The immersed-materials were heated at 400 oC for 1 h in nitrogen gas to produce the sulfur-impregnated carbonaceous material by pyrolysis. The abilities of the product to immobilize lead from aqueous solution were examined to obtain the product with high lead immobilization ability. With increasing K2S concentration, the immobilization ability of the product for lead gradually increases and then above 0.5 M K2S those are almost constant, while 15 min is sufficient for the immersed time to obtain the product with high lead immobilization ability. The product prepared from material immersed in more than 0.5 M K2S solution for less than 15 min has a maximum immobilization ability for lead ion. The lead immobilization using the sulfur-impregnated product is sustainable due to the formation of leadhillite [Pb4SO4(CO3)2(OH)2] and anglesite [PbSO4]. The product can immobilize lead ion in various artificial lead contaminated soils. By mixing artificial lead contaminated soil with the sulfur-impregnated product, the eluted solution became neutral, and the eluted concentrations of lead ion dropped below the Japanese elution standard for soil.INTRODUCTION Soil contamination with heavy metals is a worldwide problem. Accumulation of heavy metals in soils affect soil ecology, agricultural productivity, quality of agricultural products, water resources, and serious health problems for human and animal (Raicevic, et al., 2005). In the United States, for example, approximately 63 % of the sites on the National Priority List (NPL) for the treatment of contaminated soils are contaminated by metals, and lead is the most common metal, found at 15 % of the sites. In Japan, according to a report by the Ministry of Environment, 43 % of the contaminated sites that exceed the environmental quality standards are contaminated by lead compounds. Soil contamination by lead compounds is also prevalent in other developed and developing countries where lead compounds are used extensively in industrial activities without careful contamination management. Lead is a ubiquitous heavy metal pollutant in soils due to their use widely. The primary sources of Pb contamination include industrial activities such as mining, smelting of metals, and the use of Pb-containing products such as paints, lead-acid batteries, bullets, gasoline and pesticides (Cao, et al., 2009). It can damage human nervous (especially children) and reproductive systems (ATSDR, 2007). The high concentration of Pb in the soil poses risks to human and animal health by the leaching of metals from the soil into water and the consumption of edible plants growth in the contaminated soil. Therefore, proper remediation is necessary to reduce metal availability in soil for protecting human health."

Stone coal is a unique vanadium-bearing resource in China. Many techniques, such as salt roasting-water leaching, blank roasting-acid leaching, direct acid leaching etc. have been developed for vanadium extraction from stone coal. The vanadium leaching rate can reach 74.9% for stone coal from Jiangxi, but only about 27% of vanadium is leached for Hubei ore by applying salt roasting-water leaching technique. This paper investigats the vanadium occurrence in stone coal by microscope observation and electron probe, and compares the minerals components of stone coal from Jiangxi and Hubei. Although most vanadium exist as an isomorphism by replacing Al(III) from dioctahedral structure in mica group minerals in stone coal from two regions, the free vanadium is remarkably abundant in Jiangxi stone coal than in Hubei stone coal, which results the fact that vandium is relatively readily extracted from former. Moreover, the content of calcite in Hubei stone coal is much higher than that in Jiangxi stone coal. Calcium can react with V2O5 to form water insoluble calcium vanadates during roasting and this may be the reasone why the water leaching rate of vanadium is low for Hubei ore. Acid leaching is more beneficial to the vanadium leaching but other extra methods, such as adding aid-leaching agent and/or increasing acid concentration is need for the ore where vanadium is embeded firmly. This study can effectively guide the selection of vanadium extraction techniques for stone coal from different regions.

"The article highlights the new procedure of choosing special methods of disintegration for very complicated rare ores. Especially, there is a complex approach to criteria of comparing different types of crashing machines. Criteria are as follows: degree of crashing, degree of grinding, degree of slime creation and the new creations criteria for selection. The procedure is tested on tantalium and zelestinium ore. A new methods was shown the preference impact crashing machine MD-7 for zelestinium ore. In product of crashing 0,050 mm size are 9.4 %, 0,005 mm size – 2.5 %.This is gut result, and show the best indexes of slime creation. The check of the proposed new methods was done when comparing the crushing of tantalium ores of the Otboynoe deposit in cone inertial and centrifugal impact crushers and roller press. A research was conducted different crashing machines under laboratory and semi-industrial conditions. Different operation modes of crushers were also checked. The comparison of the crushing selectivity criterion and degree of crashing showed that the centrifugal impact crusher (CC) and roller press (RP) has the lower indexes than the cone inertial crusher (CIC). Degrees of crashing for different crashing machines are:centrifugal impact crusher – 10.1;roller press – 10.8;cone inertial crusher – 14.2. The crusher CC the selection criterion is 0,632 units, RP – 0.730, where as for the crusher CIC – 0.848 units. The best crushing mode for the crusher CIC-300? is as follows: turning angle of debalance is 0°, peripheral speed of a cone rotation – 1420 r.p.m, specific energy consumption- 4.99 kW*t/t. Crusher CIC-300? is the best for tantalium ores of the Otboynoe deposit. The new methodic are verification.INTRODUCTION Rare metal concentration circuits are complex, energy-intensive, and costly. The reasons for this include the multimetal nature of the rare metal ores, their volatile material composition and low grade. That is why careful selection of ore preparation circuits is of great importance for minimizing the energy inputs and maximizing the liberation of the valuable minerals. Recent research (Khopunov, 2011, Gazaleeva, 2015) has demonstrated that the most efficient comminution processes available to the mineral processing industry are selective disintegration, crushing and grinding, allowing to liberate the mineral particles along the cleavage in the comminution process. These methods are indispensable for the processing of finely disseminated refractory ores prone to slime formation. Many rare metal ores found in Russia are of this type."
