"Antofagasta Minerals S.A. (AMSA), for its Centinela District Project, is currently developing, at a first stage, a new 90 ktpd Concentrator Plant incorporating Esperanza Sur (ESP Sur) and Encuentro (ENC) ores. In order to dimension properly main equipment, specifically for grinding circuit, a final decision has been taken using geological and metallurgical (comminution) data from both body ores. Data was analyzed internally within AMSA and its consultants to get a final proposed circuit for further engineering studies. Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) parameter is one of the main key factors for proper dimensioning. To get an accurate value different tests have been made and modelled to ESP Sur and ENC ores. Also, operational data from Esperanza operation has been taken into account due to its similar ore characteristics to ESP Sur ore and incorporated as input data for design. Depending on data, quality and amount, it is possible to estimate accuracy for project investment and risk level, hence investment decision can be taken under good and reliable information."

"The most common agglomeration technique in iron and steelmaking is sintering, which requires the use of iron ore/concentrate mixtures, limestone and dolomite as fluxes and coke as fuel in order to produce the required melt at high temperature to cause agglomeration of the particles. Sinter feed blends containing high proportions of magnetite concentrate are difficult to granulate and to produce granules of high permeability, and sufficiently robust quasi-particles for successful sintering operations. Since the granulation of iron ore sinter feed requires no use of a binder, the added fluxes play a vital role in holding the granule particles together until they sinter. The fluxes also help to improve the granule quality and control slag composition in the blast furnace. It is well-known that the particle size distribution of the fluxes affects the granulation effectiveness and green bed permeability which determine the productivity, physical and metallurgical properties of the granules and sinter. Hence it is necessary to understand the role of flux particle size on granule properties so as to improve the granulation of iron ore sinter feed blends containing high magnetite concentrate. In this study, laboratory granulation experiments have been carried out on iron ore sinter feed blends containing high proportions of magnetite concentrate at different addition levels of limestone and dolomite mean particle sizes, to understand the influence of limestone and dolomite particle sizes on granulation rate processes and granule properties.INTRODUCTION Increases in iron ore production to meet the global demand for iron and steel products has led to the depletion of high grade iron ores and thus the current utilisation of low grade iron ore fines and concentrates. However, sinter, pellets and the lump are the required feed types used in the blast furnace. The high basicity sinter is the main iron bearing feed accounting for 70-85% in the blast furnace due to its good metallurgical and mechanical properties that allow high productivity, efficient processes and low production cost (Adam et al., 2017)."

Currently, the interest to conditioning of cyanide-bearing recycled solutions with high-grade of base metals, in particular, copper has significantly grown. This can be explained by two major factors. Firstly, there are strict regulations on cyanides amount in tails and higher cost of detoxification processes. This problem can be easily solved during the ore treatment using the conditioning of solutions and water recycling. Secondly, the presence of other metals minerals which react with cyanide during gold leaching resulting in high cyanide consumption. The presence of copper is a major problem. Many copper minerals react with cyanide with the formation of cyanide complexes-Cu(CN)2-, Cu(CN)32- and Cu(CN)43-. One mole of copper consumes 2-4 moles of free cyanide. Availability of cyanide-soluble copper minerals has deleterious effect on gold leaching (gold recovery, cyanide consumption, tails detoxification, efficiency of gold elution and electrowinning). The precipitation of copper from the solutions improves gold recovery by CIL. The removal and recycling of cyanide allowed the reduction of cyanide addition to the process. The recycling of spent cyanide-bearing solutions based on the removal of copper and the return of cyanide bound in complex compounds for leaching process is an optimal way of solving the problem of gold-bearing copper ores treatment. By using the technology, an adverse impact onto gold recovery process is eliminated and at the same time reducing the cyanide consumption. Today, processes and methods of high-grade copper leaching solutions conditioning before and after gold recovery have been developed, which combine two ways of copper recovery: as a saleable product and cyanide to recover gold and reduce total operating costs. They are Cutech, MNR, SART, Cyanomet, AuGment, Vitrokele, Hannah and Cyanisorb. At the same time, these technologies have not been studied enough and described in literature. Data on parameters and operating conditions as well as introduction is not available. The conditioning technology of recycled solutions developed by IRGIREDMET JSC allows copper to be recovered as high quality concentrate and at the same time free cyanide regeneration in the recycled solution which is amenable to gold leaching. This technology was commercialized at a mine in Kazakhstan in 2008. The removal and recycling of cyanide does not require additional cyanide and is cost-effective. More cost-efficiency is achievable through selling copper concentrates, closed water cycle without the detoxification of effluents and enhanced gold recovery by CIL and cathode quality.

Dewatering fine particles (e.g., flotation concentrates) is inefficient, energy intensive and often requires large capital and operating costs. To address these issues, a series of advanced dewatering technologies have been developed at Virginia Tech. These include novel dewatering aids and a hyperbaric centrifuge. Typically, the moistures obtained using these methods are 30% to 50% lower than those obtained using conventional methods, as demonstrated in laboratory and pilot-scale test programs. With another novel dewatering technology that has been tested in bench-scale tests, the moistures can be reduced to levels once believed to be attainable only through the use of thermal dryers. In this communication, test results obtained with these advanced dewatering technologies are presented and compared.

The regrinding stage is necessary to achieve the particle size (liberation) for the final upgrade in the cleaning flotation process. At present, vertical mills (Vertimill) are employed at industrial scale, using small steel balls as grinding media. The regrinding process characterization requires mixing regime knowledge along with the mean residence time of the liquid and solid phases. The residence time distribution (RTD) and the actual mean residence time estimations from theoretical relationships are complex due to the presence of three components (solid mineral, balls and water), mass transport characteristics and segregation affecting solid holdup. Therefore, the experimental RTD determination is suitable for industrial mills. In this work, RTD measurements were performed in two different industrial flotation plants. Both plants operate with Vertimills of 1000-1500 HP in the regrinding process with different circuit arrangements according to the plant treatment capacity. The RTD was measured using the radioactive tracer technique. This technique allows for non-invasive tracer detection where the procedure consists of selecting a liquid (Br82 in aqueous solution) or solid (irradiated solid) tracer for RTD data acquisition in real time. The RTD was modelled by the Large and Small Tanks in Series (LSTS) model, which allowed the characterization of the different mixing regimes for both liquid and solids in the regrinding mills. Effective mean residence times in the range 2-11 min were obtained with RTD shapes similar to those obtained in tumbling ball mills. It was found that residence times of liquid and fine particles were similar, which is consistent with results observed in other mixing systems, e.g. mechanical flotation cells. Also, the mean residence times estimated from the RTD allowed the mass balance adjustment to be validated from metallurgical sampling data. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the relationship between different milling procedures, viz. a ball mill and an IsaMill respectively, and the flotation performance of the different mill products. Two ores were used, viz. a base metal sulphide (BMS) and a platinum group mineral (PGM) UG2 ore. Flotation was used as a diagnostic to investigate whether the different milling procedures may have different effects of the floatability of the particles. The present study is part of a research programme investigating this question using a wide range of comminutiondevices and procedures. Similar particle size fractions from the different milling procedures were used in the flotation tests. The particles were characterized in terms of particle size distribution, morphology (using scanning electron microscopy and image analysis software) and rheology tests. The results have shown that in general when comparing similar feeds to flotation in terms of equivalent particle size distributions as indicated by the d80 value, the ball mill generally yielded better recoveries and grades in the case of the BMS and lower chromite recoveries in the case of the UG2 ore compared to the IsaMill. No significant differences were observed in the morphological or rheological characteristics of the particles subjected to the different milling procedures. Although the results appear to indicate that IsaMilling is less advantageous than ball milling in terms of the flotation performance for the two ores studied it should be emphasized that these results do not take into account the relative advantage which IsaMilling has over ball milling in terms of direct and indirect energy consumption and GHG emissions nor, most importantly, does it consider the platinum group element recoveries in the case of the UG2 which may have increased significantly as a result of the finer grind which the IsaMill produces after 4 passes compared to the ball mill after 64 min. Such results which will be reported is due course may show that the greater liberation expected after IsaMilling of the PGMs outweighs any disadvantages indicated in this study.

"Studies reported in this paper used polymetallic Pb-Zn-Sb-As-(Ag, Au) ore from Dražnja, Kosovo. The ore is comparatively rich in Zn (6.56%) and Pb (2.87%), but with high rates of Sb and As. Conventional lead and zinc concentration by flotation produced galena and sphalerite rich concentrate with high recovery, but with excessive As and Sb. After chemical analyses, which could not detect the reason for the excessive elements, ore minerals were identified under the ore microscope, their texture characterized, and degree of liberation of useful minerals was assessed. Microscopy of the mineral concentrates revealed complex intergrowths of galena and marmatite minerals mostly with sulphosalt minerals (boulangerite, jamesonite and bournonite) and also with arsenopyrite mainly responsible for the unsatisfactory quality of the concentrate. These complex sulphosalts, among other things have similar behaviour during the flotation concentration, and in spite of their interlocking with galena, therefore inadequate liberation, sulphosalts remain in the lead concentrate. Microscopic analyses indicated that a better galena concentration product is possible with a higher rate of mineral liberation, and then by selective floc flotation of some sulphosalt minerals. Purpose of this work was to show that only chemical analysis is not sufficient, according to that we solved the problem by precise mineral identification and time consuming mineral liberation measurements. INTRODUCTION The polymetallic Pb-Zn-Sb-As-(Ag, Au) ore body of Dražnja, Kosovo, fairly rich in Zn (6.56%) and Pb (2.87%) was repeatedly explored and once even worked. Mineralization at Draznja was primarily represented by sphalerite, galenite and marcasite/pirite. Some sections comprise massive sulphides, and others are lower grade zones of semi-massive sphalerite/galena or marcasite/pyrite dominant sulphides. The ore body II was formed in the southern gallery in the structure Çukë – Lajthishtë (with content of 3.16% Pb and 7.31% Zn). Pb-Zn ore with increased content of As, Sb sulphosalts is not rare phenomenon in the world. While previously treated as unprofitable, economical uninteresting ore, today with development processing and new reagents (organic, ecologic), are the topic of scientific papers. The examination of Pb-Zn ore with high content of sulphosalts we find in deposits as: The hydrothermal vein deposit of Harja in the Baia Mare area, contain a wide variety of sulphosalts [Cook, N. & Damian, G., 1997]; also the deposits Fankou Mine in Guangdong Province and the Dachang Mine in Guangxi Province, where the flotation concentration of galena and jamesonite takes place [Runqing Liu et al. 2015], [Zhang Ting, Qin Wen-Qing, 2015];. On a samples from Tibet in China flotation separation test of galena and jamesonite was conducted [Sun Wei, Han Haisheng, Tao Hongbiao, Liu Runqing, 2015]. According to history of investigation, the mineralized area of Dražnja has a long history of exploration and possible exploitation activities [Slowey, Galen, 2009]. Recent workings were carried out in three stages through the 20th century."

Solvent extraction of gallium from Bayer solution of Jajarm Alumina plant was investigated us-ing Kelex100 as extractant. Taguchi experimental design method was used in order to optimize the separation factor of Ga and Al. Optimum conditions were obtained as follows: Temperatuer: 65°C, volume ratio of aqueous phase to organic phase: 3.0:1.0, process time: 60min and organic phase containing 15vol.% Kelex100, 5vol.% isodecanol in kerosene. In this conditions, 74% gallium and 0.3% aluminum was extracted and separation factor was obtained 828.63.

"Besides valuable metals of Cu, Sn, WO3, Zn, there are S, Ag, CaF2, In and so on in a complex ore deposit in south China (which belongs to Hu Nan Shizhuyuan Non-ferrous Metal Limited Liability). Although it proved reserve amounts to 3.5×107 ton, its crystal character limits its utilization in large-scale. It features complex relationships between valuable minerals, finest crystallized particle size, low-graded valuable metals (Cu 0.30%, Zn 0.5-0.7%, Sn 0.2%, W<0.1%). If only tungsten minerals are considered, it means WO3 grade is too low (the cut-off grade of WO3 is 0.1% in China). Only Cu and Sn minerals are recovered from 2006 and Cu recovery is less than 70%, Sn 15-20%. Other valuable metals of W, Zn, S and CaF2 were lost in the tailings. To make good use of the ore, the technology of fully recovering Cu, Sn, W, Zn, CaF2 and rare metals are in urgent need. After systematic researches, the flow sheet of "bulk flotation of Cu-Zn minerals at first, then Cu-Zn separation, then recovering sulphide by flotation, then recovering iron minerals by magnetic separation, then bulk flotation of Sn-W minerals after desliming" is developed. Furthermore, specific Sn-W collectors of BK411 and BK412 are applied into the processes and better indexes are obtained. The industrial indexes are listed as followings: the content of Cu, Zn, Sn, WO3 of ROM ore is 0.31%, 0.65%, 0.13%, 0.03%; Cu and Zn recovery are 82.23% and 37.79% respectively; 63.76% of Sn and 34.34% of WO3 go into the Sn-W bulk concentrates. Economic benefits are remarkable."

"Oxidized nickel ores are important source for nickel production in Russia. Considerable explored reserves of oxidized nickel ores with relatively low nickel content, about 0.6-1.4%, are concentrated in the Ural region of Russia. Conventional process flowsheet with the use of blast matte smelting, applied in particularly by JSC “Ufaleynickel”, proves itself as extremely low-margin technology. This paper will examine development of a new more cost-efficient process involving integrated treatment of oxidized nickel ores using the ore from Serovskoye deposit as an example. Target products of this process are hydrate residues containing up to 15 % of nickel and 0.3 % of cobalt, as well as saleable salts of magnesium sulphate and ammonium suplphate. This innovative process includes roasting of a mixture composed of ground ore and sulphuric acid at 650 °?. Sulphate roasted product is then leached in a weak sulphuric acid solution with the following separation of liquid from insoluble solids. Sulphate solution is neutralized by aqua ammonia in two stages until media pH is 3.0-3.5 and 7.5-8.0 with detachment of iron- and nickel-bearing hydrate residues respectively. The mother solution is boiled out resulting in salt crystals which are then dried and roasted at 500-600 °? to obtain magnesium sulphate. The gases generated during salts roasting are captured with production of ammonium sulphate. The developed technology demonstrates higher potential in terms of its economics and eco-efficiency comparing with the conventional process. This innovative technology for integrated process of oxidized nickel ores was patented in Russia.INTRODUCTION Development and industrial implementation of efficient technologies to process oxidized nickel ores is a very important task for non-ferrous metallurgy of Russia. The main reasons for the required technical upgrade of the plants processing oxidized nickel ores is depletion of rich ores, increase of energy resources costs, amplification of environmental and production standards. Due to this, transition from conventional pyrometallurgy to cost-effective hydrometallurgical technologies of ore liberation and solutions processing is logical and corresponds to the worldwide practice of Ni production from oxidized nickel ores."

"A typical low-grade of high sulfur bauxite fr contains 54.71% Al2O3, 11.35% SiO2 while the ratio of aluminum and silicon was 4.25, and harmful components such as Fe and S graded 7.3% and 1.33% respectively. The ore is characterized by complex mineral compositions, fine dissemination of particle size of pyrite and diaspore, low desulfurization efficiency, and difficult separation of aluminum and silicon. In order to improve the degree of concentration, recovery and desulfurization efficiency on the basis of process mineralogy studies, the floatation behavior of high sulfur bauxite in the process of desulfurization and desilication were studied through laboratory tests and pilot plant tests. KEYWORDS high-sulfur bauxite; low grade; flotation; desulfurization;desilicication INTRODUCTION In order to solve the selection problem of bauxite mine area, we carried out technological mineralogy, laboratory test, small-expansion Dalian test to solve the problem of the refractory ore. Main research contents and conclusions were presented as followings :(1)Process mineralogy research shows: the main mineral components include diaspore, kaolinite, chlorite, pyrite, limonite. (2)Batch flotation tests indicated that slime can be dispersed well during desulfurization floatation when Na2CO3 was used as modifying agent. (3)Poilot plant tests shows that Batch flotation tests results are correct. 2?PROCESS MINERALOGY 2.1 Chemical Composition of Ore 2.1.1 Spectral Analysis of Sample The results of the semi-quantitative analysis of X-Ray -fluorescence spectra of the original ore are shown in Table 2-1. The results of spectral analysis show that the main components of the sample are O, Al, Si, followed by Fe, Mg, Ti, S and so on, while the content of other elements is very small. The value is Al, and maybe Ti, for bauxite, while Fe and S are unfavorable elements, and Si and Mg and Ca are the main impurity elements."

"The tailings of the Bigadiç Colemanite Concentrator at the West of Turkey which contain 18 % B2O3 and 1.57 % SO3 are collected at the tailing dams near the Concentrator. In this research, it was aimed to obtain colemanite concentrates with a minimum content of 40 % B2O3 and a maximum 0.5 % SO3 from the tailings. At the experimental studies, decrepitation methods were systematically applied following attrition scrubbing and sizing. At the end of the tests, the best decrepitation result were described, at 500oC temperature for 15 min. duration, the final concentrate having 57.84 % B2O3, 0.44 % SO3 with 73 % recovery was obtained.Boron ores reserves of Turkey are about 2.5 billion tons and Turkey has the 63% share of the World’s boron reserves. The boron reserves are located at Eskisehir (Kirka), Kutahya (Emet), Balikesir (Bigadic) and Bursa (Kestelek) districts in Western Turkey. In 2002, the total amount of boron production of Turkey was about 1.4 million tons, which is 40 % of the World boron production.Bigadiç colemanite (Ca2B6O11. 5 H2O) ore with a content of 30-31 %B2O3 are concentrated by attrition tumbling and classification process. So the final concentrates with contents of 40 and 42 % B2O3 are obtained at the size fractions of –125+25mm and –25+ 3 mm respectively. The tailings materials with an 18 % B2O3 content are collected at the tailing dams near the Concentrator. In this research, it was aimed to obtain colemanite concentrates with a minimum content of 40 % B2O3 and a maximum 0.5 % SO3 from Bigadic tailings having 18 % B2O3 and 1.57 % SO3.In experimental tests, attrition scrubbing, wet sieving, gravity separation, electrostatic separation, flotation and decrepitation were adopted to the colemanite tailings, and optimum beneficiation conditions were obtained."

"In this paper, an alternative beneficiation process was developed to recover nickel minerals from low-grade weathered ores. The studied sample, 0.3% Ni grade, is essentially composed of nickel sulfides (pyrrhotite and pentlandite); magnetite and silicates (mostly talc and amphibolites) are the primary gangue minerals. The particle size distribution was controlled using a grinding operation to avoid producing an excess of fine particles by overgrinding. The sample underwent a grinding step for the fine degree of liberation. The slimes (-20 ?m) were removed via two desliming stages in hydrocyclones (diameters of 1.5" and 2"); the ground material, which was classified in a range of (-150+20) ?m, was processed by column flotation in three different stages: rougher flotation for magnesium silicates, rougher flotation for sulfides, and cleaner flotation for sulfides, using pilot flotation columns (2" and 6" in diameter and 20 ft high). The goal of using the preliminary magnesium silicate flotation step was to remove hydrophobic minerals (mostly talc) that would float naturally with the sulfides, which would decrease the Ni grade in the concentrate, as well as to reduce the MgO content because this compound is considered harmful in metallurgical processes when a grade greater than 9% is used. The final concentrate obtained in the cleaner flotation step reached up to 2% Ni and 7.0% MgO. The global and flotation recoveries in the process were approximately 30% and 60%, respectively, due to the losses of Ni during the desliming process. Despite this low global recovery, the adopted beneficiation process can be considered an interesting alternative to produce nickel concentrate from tailings or waste materials."

In India, bauxite deposits are concentrated in Central India, Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats. Bauxites from various regions in Gujarat were identified during the present investigations of geochemical mapping. Different types of Bauxites samples were collected from Kachchh, Jamnagar, Porbunder, Junagarh, Bhavnagar and Amreli areas of Gujarat state and were studied in detail for their geochemical signatures to plot the data on Geochemical map. Raw bauxites were characterized by using powder XRD, XRF, ICP and optical microscopy techniques (with the help of Model microscope having both transmitted and reflected light setups) and were later examined to grade their quality. Most of the bauxites from Kachchh region were of high-grade (gibbsitic) type; while those of Sourashtra region were of low-grade (lateritic / calcitic) types. Most of these bauxites were either of ferruginous/lateritic or of calcareous/calcitic types. Based on the mineralogical composition, such as gibbsite, hematite and/or goethite, Kaolinite and calcite minerals present in particular bauxites, the deposits were graded. Finally, the Geochemical mapping of Bauxites for Gujarat region was prepared and discussed.

In cyanide leaching procedure, achieving an acceptable efficiency for silver and gold is very time-consuming, thus, enough studies have not been performed for optimization and modeling of this process. The kinetics of cyanide leaching includes two steps: first step comprises a sharp slope while the other has a slight increasing trend. In the present study, in order to reduce the time and cost, the cyanide leaching process of a sulfide silver/gold ore was optimized in the first period. The applied parameters and their ranges are: temperature 20-40 (°C); time 1-8 (hrs); cyanide concentration 1-2 (mole cyanide / mole Cu); the percentage of solid to liquid 1-2 (%) and pH 10-12. For design of experiments fractional factorial 2(5-1) was used. Also four center points were applied to increase the accuracy of the model. In addition, by analysis of variance (ANOVA) the most effective parameters were identified and the optimized condition was determined. A regression model was proposed to describe the effects of independent variables and their interacting role on silver recovery. Results showed that the model was linear for silver and nonlinear for gold. In the gold recovery process, the two important parameters are time and pH with the former being more effective. Due to the existence of cyanide ions in the medium, temperature and cyanide concentration have less influence in the gold recovery process. Solid to liquid ratio, in addition, comprises a slight negative impact on the procedure. This emphasizes the different kinetics of silver/ gold cyanide leaching. Finally, using the optimum condition the amount of silver and gold obtained were 61% and 67% in 8 hours, respectively. While in general conditions, the results were 37% and 54% in 24 hours, respectively. Keywords: cyanide leaching, refractory gold/silver ore, modeling, optimization

It is customary to use more than one stage of flotation to obtain an acceptable level of separation of valuables. Flotation circuit design is usually accomplished by applying empirical rules which usually results in operations not working at their optimum conditions. Given the capabilities of genetic algorithms (GA) in finding an optimum solution in a very disturbed search spaces, they can be used to obtain the desired flotation circuit configuration. In flotation circuit configuration and optimization problem, a combination of metallurgical parameters such as yield and concentrate ash content could be used as the fitness function for the genetic algorithm. The multi-objective nature of the problem justified to use Pareto method to arrive at a set of solutions. The appropriate configuration based on technical or economical considerations could then be chosen. To obtain the fitness function for any given configuration, it is necessary to model every flotation stage. The proposed method was used to find the optimum circuit configuration for a coal washing plant. The objective was to arrive at the highest yield while producing a concentrate with a certain ash content (< 11%). The feed to the flotation circuit was characterized based on the size fractions and their flotation rate constants. Results showed that with a 95% confidence, the absolute difference between the modeled and measured values were 2.9-5.5% for yield and 0.4-1.1% for concentrate ash content. When the proposed GA-based circuit configuration was implemented in the plant, the yield increased from the original value of 57.6% to 65.7% while producing concentrate ash content (10.9%) within acceptable limits. By adding one stage to the current three-stage circuit, it was predicted that the yield could further increase by 3.8% while keeping the quality of the concentrate within the appropriate level. "Small diameter (10 mm) hydrocyclones have been applied successfully for the separation of particle suspensions in the micron size range. These hydrocyclones are attractive because they show a bypass fraction larger that the water recovery, resulting in a high particle recovery to the underflow as well as low water recovery. However, this is a disadvantage when the purpose of the hydrocyclone is classification because of the large amount of fine particles that are misplaced in the underflow. The aim of this study is to explore, experimentally and computationally, the influence of design parameters on the classification process. In this work, a full factorial experimental design was defined to carry out comprehensive experimental tests using glass beads (0-20 µm) as the particulate system. We show that the dimensions of spigot and vortex finder diameter can be effectively manipulated to change the separation performance of the system and the energy consumption. A CFD model was developed that is able to predict particle size distribution. The numerical results for the partition curves showed very good agreement with the experimental data. INTRODUCTION Small diameter hydrocyclones are a very attractive separation technology for fine particle suspensions. Since the hydrocyclone diameter is directly proportional to the cutsize that can be achieved, 10mm hydrocyclones have been shown to be very effective in collecting particles in the micron-size range. In addition, while in large hydrocyclones the bypass, i.e. the fraction of particles that report to the underflow without classification, is similar to the water recovery, in 10mm hydrocyclones the bypass fraction is considerably larger than the water recovery. Its high particle recovery and low water recovery makes small hydrocyclones ideal for ultrafine particle classification and dewatering applications in mineral processing. The separation of mineral suspensions achieved using small hydrocyclones has been the focus of various studies. Pasquier and Cilliers (2000) derived a general classification model from experimental data of fine silica concentration in 10mm hydrocyclones; the model was able to describe the fish-hook partition curve. The effect of operating conditions has also received some attention in the literature. Cilliers et al. (2004) showed that an increase in temperature positively effects the recovery of fine silica particles in small hydrocyclones, by increasing the bypass and decreasing the cutsize. Neese et al. (2015) showed that the cutsize in 10mm hydrocyclones can be further decreased by operating at higher pressure, which also trebled the throughput."

"It is great significance to realize the efficiently and comprehensively utilization of iron, manganese and aluminum from refractory high-aluminum and high-manganese iron ores. Aimed at the two types of low grade refractory iron ores, mineralogical characteristics were studied. The direct reduction behaviors and evolution of mineral compositions of single iron ores and their blended ones were analyzed, and the corresponding reduction mechanisms were demonstrated. The results showed that only a part of iron oxides in high-aluminum ore are transformed to metallic iron after reduction, while the other react with aluminum and silica to form fayalite and hercynite which are difficult to be reduced. For the high manganese iron ore, most iron oxides can be reduced to metallic iron and manganese oxides can combined with aluminum-silica minerals to form galaxite and tephroite, promoting the reduction of iron oxides. Co-reduction results demonstrate that reduction of high- aluminum ore can be promoted by adding with high-manganese ore. Metallization and metallic iron grains increase dramatically by elevate high-manganese blending ratio. At the ratio of 60% high- manganese iron ore in the pellet feed, iron-slag separate well with a slag assaying 28.51%~36.35% Al2O3 and the recovery of iron and manganese can be reached 93%, respectively. The high-aluminum rich manganese residue was recycled with H2SO4. In skarn type scheelite deposit, there are calcium minerals with floatability similar to scheelite, such as calcite, fluorite, etc., which are difficult to separate. Heating cleaning method developed by Petrov has been widely applied in processing rough concentrate of scheelite for nearly half a century, but there exists a general lack of full understanding of the interaction between floatation reagent and mineral particles surfaces. The mechanism on separation of scheelite and calcium minerals in heating cleaning process was investigated by mineral flotation experiments, XPS analysis, as well as solution chemistry and crystal chemistry calculations. The results showed that the sequence of minerals floatability using sodium oleate as collector and a large amount of sodium silicate as modifier in heating flotation test was scheelite > calcite > fluorite, which was the same as solution chemistry calculations based on Gibbs free energy vs. pH and also the same as Ca-X intensity order by crystal chemistry analysis. There are two sides about the mechanism of heating cleaning method: one is that the adsorbed collector on calcium minerals surface is desorbed more easily than scheelite, and the other is selective dissolution of calcium ions from the mineral surface because of Ca-X intensity difference in heating and stirring process.

"The paper describes the results of stripping of copper production dusts by leaching with aqueous soda, nitric acid solutions and recovery from solutions resulting in the production of lead sulphate, tribasic lead sulfate (TBLS), ammonium perrhenate, zinc, copper-cadmium cake.The combination of two stripping operations under chosen optimal conditions allows the recovery of 98% rhenium, 82% lead, 92 % copper, and 96% zinc and cadmium each. The major amount of rhenium (~ 80%) is recovered at the carbonization stage, and other metals - at the nitric acid leaching stage.Lead sulfate was precipitated by mixing solutions resulting from carbonization and leaching. Tribasic lead sulfate was produced by dissolving lead sulfate in sodium hydroxide solutions. Rhenium was recovered from mother liquor resulting from lead sulfate precipitation by liquid-liquid extraction and zinc was recovered from raffinates. Trialkylamine (TAA) was used as an extractant for rhenium recovery and di-2- ethylhexylphosphoric acid was used for zinc recovery. Optimal liquid-liquid extraction parameters have been defined allowing the recovery of 96% rhenium in crude ammonium perrhenate and 94% zinc in sulfuric acid solution. Based on the experimental data, the flowchart for dust processing to produce salable products - lead, rhenium, zinc salts has been suggested."
