With advances in industrial processes, new products have emerged and become essential in everyday life. These activities generate different types of wastes, which can be harmful tothe environmentif not properly disposed. Having this problem in sight and considering the importance of concrete in the construction industry, this study analyzes the behavio of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) with addition of granite processing waste. Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) tests, compressive strength and Young’s modulus tests after 1, 3, 7 and 28 days of production and shear and flexural strength after 28 days of production were performed during the analysis. The results indicated that incorporation of this residue into RPC does not affect its performance. RPC was still able to present high compressive and flexural strength.

THE determination of suitable and safe annealing temperatures is one of the most important problems arising in the operation of a copper rolling mill. Certain of the larger mills have worked this problem out for themselves and in these mills the operation has become more or less standardized. In some of the mills pyrometers are used to measure the temperature of the annealing furnaces and careful watch is kept to see that overheating does not take place. In a considerable number of the mills, however, dependence is placed entirely on the judgment of the operator. The almost total lack of literature bearing on this subject seems sufficient warrant for the publication of this paper. The discussion of this subject naturally divides itself into two parts: (1) The effect of annealing temperature on physical properties; and (2) changes in the microstructure of refined copper due to cold rolling and annealing. I. THE EFFECT OF ANNEALING TEMPERATURE ON PHYSICAL PROPERTIES For the purpose of investigating this phase of the subject six test bars were selected, varying in oxygen content between the limits of 0.036 and 0.070 per cent. An 18.5 km (12 mile) long tunnel is being driven by four Earth Pressure Balance Tunnel Boring Machines (EPB-TBMs) of 4.7 m (15.5 ft.) diameter through alluvial sand, gravel, silt and clay above and below the groundwater table in Los Angeles beneath buildings, railroads, freeways and the L.A. River. Continuous automatic data recording of TBM operation and field inspectors' records, accompanied by monitoring of 5,000 surface reference points and 268 borehole extensometers were used to obtain information. The paper explains the reason for selecting the method of EPB-tunneling to ensure stability of the tunnel and meeting of environmental requirements, and presents data collected to monitor and demonstrate the performance of the TBM sin the different ground conditions encountered.

Particles for heap leaching in conventional circuits are prepared using Cone crushers. Cone crushers are used to crush the ore to the size range between 12-25 mm for heap leaching operations. Leaching from these relatively coarse particles occurs only at the surface and in subsurface regions, which are accessible from the surface by cracks and pores. Since leaching is active in accessible areas, the method of comminution that forms multiple cracks and pores would offer an advantage for heap leach. An investigation was performed in this study to assess if the HPGR forms more cracks and pores than a Cone crusher. X-ray computed tomography (CT) was used to characterize the degree of cracks and pores formed by these two comminution devices that can be used for heap leaching feed preparation. In order to compare the effect of the comminution method on crack network generation, a bulk sample of the zinc ore was crushed by the HPGR at three different pressure settings (45, 95 and 120 bar), the sample ore was also crushed with a Cone crusher for comparison purposes. Products from the Cone crusher and HPGR experiment were then screened into five size fractions ((-25 +19), (-19+16), (-16+9.5), (-9.5+5), (-5+4.75) mm), Subsamples from the ((-25 +19), (-16+9.5), (-5+4.75) mm) size fractions were analysed. The spatial distribution of the crack network of sphalerite particles was characterized using a highresolution industrial X-ray CT system. This paper describes the use of image analysis techniques including image segmentation, which uses a combination of thresholding and other methods to characterize and quantify crack and mineral dissemination in the sphalerite particles after comminution with the HPGR and Cone crusher. The results are validated with those obtained using traditional techniques such as physical gas (with N2) adsorption, mercury intrusion porosimetry, SEM and QEMSCAN.

The heat of formation at 0°C of the intermetallic compound AgMg as a function of composition has been determined by tin-solution calorimetry. In this technique, the heat of formation is determined as the difference in the heat effects, at infinite dilution, on dissolution of the compound and a mixture of its components added alternately to liquid tin from a reference temperature, such as 0°C. The experimental technique and method of calculation have been described elsewhere.' The compound AgMg is a 0 electron compound with a CsCl structure.2 In nonstoichiometric compositions of the compound, atoms of the excess component are substituted on the AgMg lattice.3,4 The homogeneity range is approximately 43 to 52 at. pct Mg at room temperature and 38 to 65 at. pct Mg at 500Oc.2 Single-phase alloys outside the homogeneity range at room temperature can be prepared by quenching. The specimens used in this investigation contained from 39.0 to 54.8 at. pct Mg. They were made available, together with analyses, by the Research Laboratory of the General Electric Co. Metallographic examination of the quenched specimens containing 39.0 and 54.8 at. pct Mg gave no indication of the presence of a precipitated phase. The measured heats of formation are listed in Table I. In a calorimetric run, four to six additions each of a specimen and the corresponding mixture of the components were made. One or two calorimetric runs were carried out with each composition depending on the amount of samples available. The limits stated in the table represent the experimental precision and not the absolute accuracy of the measurements. Thermodynamic investigations of the compound AgMg have been made by Trzebiatowski and Terpilowski 5 and Kachi.6,7 The heats of formation at 500°C derived from the combined electromotive-force values of these investigators8 are more exothermic than the heats of formation at 0°C reported here, Fig. 1. The differences cannot be explained by the difference in temperature. This is shown by the published heat capacity of the stoichiometric compound, which obeys the Kopp-Neumann rule from 0" to 500oC.9 The heats of formation derived from equilibrium data are generally considered to be less accurate than those determined by calorimetric methods because small errors in the change of the equilibrium values with temperature have a large effect on the calculated value of the heat of formation. The heats of formation derived from the combined published electromotive-force values reach a maximum at 56.0 at. pct Mg.8 Kachi reports a maximum of -4.7 kcal per g-atom at the stoichiometric composition.7 The present results also indicate a maximum at or near the stoichio metric composition, Fig. 1.

PERHAPS the most widely used dispersants or gangue depressants in nonmetallic flotation are sodium silicates, which vary in silica-to-soda ratio from 1 to 3.75. Typical manufactured silicates in order of decreasing solubility and increasing amounts of silica are Metso, silica-to-soda ratio of 1.00; D, 2.00; RU, 2.40; K, 2.90; N, 3.22; and S-35, 3.75.* References in flotation literature1,2 to the use of sodium silicates are often weak because they fail to mention the type of silicate used. Metso and silicate N have occasionally been mentioned, but when the type of silicate is not mentioned, it is usually assumed to be N, the cheapest of the soluble silicates and the one recommended by sodium silicate manufacturers as a flotation agent. In the All is-Chalmers Research Laboratories a systematic study was made of the effect of different alkali-silica ratios on the concentration by flotation of two scheelite ores. One of these was a high grade ore from the Sang Dong mine in Korea. The effect of such factors as pH; addition agents; and conditioning time, temperature, and pulp density on the flotation efficiency of this ore have been described previously. The other ore was a low grade ore from Getchell Mines Inc., Nevada. The mineralogy and techniques of concentrating this ore have been described by Kunze. Hereafter these ores will be referred to as the Korean and Nevada ores. Experiments were made with both to determine the effect of three factors—-type of silicate, concentration of silicate, and pH of the pulp—on recovery and grade of tungsten in a rougher concentrate. Average WO, content of the Korean ore was 1.50 pct and of the Nevada ore 0.27 pct. The predominant tungsten mineral in both ores was scheelite, which was accompanied by a small amount of powellite. The powellite and scheelite were finely disseminated through both ores and required a —200 mesh grind for liberation. Major gangue minerals in the Korean ore, in decreasing order of abundance, were amphi-boles, quartz, biotite, garnet, fluorite, and calcite. Bulk sulfides composed about 3 pct of the total weight. Gangue in the Nevada ore, in descending order of abundance, was garnet, alpha quartz, calcite, phlogopite, wollastonite, and amphiboles. Sulfide minerals were 3 to 4 pct of total weight. Batch flotation experiments were made with 500-g samples of ore, each sample wet-ground to 90 pct passing 200 mesh. The finely ground ore was floated in a Fagergren batch cell at 25 pct solids. The natural pH of the Nevada ore was 8.9 and of the Korean ore, 8.5. The D, RU, K, N, and S-35 sodium silicates were obtained in colloidal dispersions with varying amounts of water. The most alkaline, Metso, was in dry powdered form. For convenience in addition, 5 pct solutions by weight were prepared from each of the silicates, on the basis of dry sodium silicate dissolved in the correct amount of distilled water. Chemical analyses of the various silicates are given in Table I, together with the pH of the 5 pct solutions. A preliminary bulk sulfide float was made with secondary butyl xanthate as the collector and pine oil as the frother. The WO] analysis of the sulfide concentrate was nearly 1 pct for the Korean ore and about 0.1 pct for the Nevada ore. The tungsten contained in the sulfide concentrate constituted about 3 pct of the total tungsten in each ore. No effort was made to recover these tungsten values. The scheelite was floated with oleic acid. Adjustments in pH were made with sulfuric acid or sodium carbonate. A 1 pct solution of 85 pct Aerosol OT was sprayed on the froth and sides of the cell during the scheelite float to aid in dispersing the minerals and to decrease the entrapment of gangue particles. Six tests were planned for each of the six types of silicate in which concentrations of 1, 2, and 4 1b of silicate per ton of dry ore were investigated at both 6.5 and 10 pH. All tests were made at room temperature. The performance of each silicate was judged from the grade and recovery of WO, in the scheelite rougher concentrate. Tungsten recovery was calculated on the basis of the scheelite remaining in the ore after the preliminary sulfide float. Testing of each silicate at three levels of concentration and two levels of pH required 36 tests with each scheelite ore. Variance analyses were performed on the concentrate grades and recoveries to determine whether or not the type of sodium silicate, the concentration of sodium silicate, or the pH significantly affected recovery or grade. Results Concentrate Grade: A variance analysis of the concentrate grades for the Korean ore showed that concentration of the silicate and pH of the ore pulp were major factors in producing a high grade concentrate. Also, the silica- to-so da ratio was important as an interaction with pH. The concentrate grade vs silica-to-soda ratio is plotted in Fig. 1. A review of technical literature covering Canadian mining emphasizes the advancement and changes that have been made in mining practice. However, current technical publications rarely outline basic principles or state definite rules that govern profitable mine operation. it may be argued that the broad principles of mining have long a go been outlined in various handbooks, text-books, and periodicals, and that these principles never alter. This is in great part true, but modern machinery, improved meta1-lurgical practice, and other advances, have in part modified these principles or changed the manner of their application. Many engineers hesitate to state specific rules, because it is so easy to quote an exception to a rules that any such statement appears to lose weight upon its very utterance. The exception to rules, and the reluctance to formulate rules, has forced such maxims as "the only rule in mining is the point of a pick," and "gold is where you find it". As an illustration of rules and their exceptions, one might quote the time-honoured maxim that a mill should not be built before a shaft has been sunk on a property in point of fact, Canadian mining history is replete with examples of wasted capital where a mill was built before a shaft had been bottomed. Y et this past year has seen a property enter profitable production whereon the building of the mill was started before the shaft was sunk. Instances such as this should not be accepted as evidence that a rule has been overthrown, but rather as an exception to the rule. The case cited pays tribute to the application of the diamond-drill combined with the correlation of sound geology. Incidentally, both these features emphasize a modern trend in the development of Canadian mining properties-a trend that is perhaps worthy of further comment. It is such trends that affect the principles of mining or modify their application. It is with such that this paper deals, at ]east in part. It is hoped that the statement of principles and the opinions herein outlined will be of sufficient interest to arouse discussion.

Nickel having a purity of more than 99.99 percent with reference to metallic impurities was electrodeposited at the Rolla Metallurgy Research Center of the Federal Bureau of Mines. The production of high-purity nickel is in keeping with the current trend in technologies for producing metals with lower and lower percentages of impurities. To understand more fully the role to be played by nickel by itself and as a component in many alloys, the element must be in a state of high purity. Procedures are outlined for purifying nickel solutions by precipitating and filtering off impurities. Details are given for using the purified solutions as electrolytes in depositing high-purity nickel. The elecneleposited nickel contained 0.0005 to 0.002 percent each of cobalt, copper, aid iron together with spectrographically detectable traces of aluminum, magnesium, and silicon. The deposits were smooth and dense; the crystalline structure was typical of an electrodeposited metal. Some preliminary experiments for purifying nickel solutions by liquid-liquid extraction are also described in this report. Tests of this type were limited since more encouraging results were obtained by other methods of purification.

Na operação da Anglo American localizada em Barro Alto, utiliza-se 2 (dois) Fornos Rotativos no processo de fabricação de ferroníquel. Esses fornos possuem 6,2m de diâmetro e 185m de comprimento, no qual é necessário o monitoramento de temperatura (20) e vazão (4) ao longo do forno. Originalmente essas medições eram realizadas através de 2 PLC’s embarcados nos fornos, no qual recebiam as medições via cabos em bandejamentos. Esses PLC’s se comunicavam via rádio modem com os PLC’s principais dos Fornos. Durante a operação encontramos diversas dificuldades de manutenção e confiabilidade, já que os fornos operam em regime de 24h por dia e 7 dias por semana. Por várias vezes alguns cabos se danificavam devida a alta temperatura dos fornos, as bandejas que se desprendiam, falhas de cartões dos PLC’s, etc. Com isso as medições eram interrompidas. Para solucionar esse problema, foi desenvolvido um sistema de Instrumentação Wireless. Esse sistema basicamente é a instalação de instrumentos com a tecnologia WirelessHart no qual os instrumentos não possuem alimentação por cabos e sim por baterias e a comunicação é feita via sinal wireless. Esses instrumentos apresentam alta confiabilidade nas medições no qual foi possível retirar toda a infraestrutura antiga e garantir continuidade/confiabilidade nas medições.

The U.S. economy boomed in 1965, completing its fifth consecutive year of expansion. Although the advance was somewhat irregular, previous records for production, sales, employment, and income were topped. During the first few months of 1965, as the economy recovered from the depressing effects of the automobile strikes of late 1964, increases were unusually large. The gains moderated in early spring, but were stimulated at midyear by sharply rising capital outlays, excise tax cuts, in? creased Social Security payments, and accelerated Viet-Nam defense expenditures. Gross national product (GNP) in cur-rent dollars rose $49.5 billion or 7.8 percent, to a total of S681.2 billion. In constant dollars (effects of price changes eliminated), GNP increased 5.9 percent, a rate considerably higher than the historical postwar annual average growth of 3.5 per-cent. Demand increased in most final markets and was especially strong for business fixed investment and consumption expenditures. With the exception of construction, most of the increases in GNP were real, since prices increased less than 2 percent.

As ligas de alta entropia são sistemas de ligas multicomponentes onde os elementos constituintes estão em proporções atômicas equivalentes ou quase equivalentes. As ligas de alta entropia são materiais avançados com propriedades únicas e promissores como materiais estruturais. Contrário as fases intermetálicas ordenadas esperadas pela metalurgia clássica, fase simples em solução sólida com estruturas CCC e CFC têm sido encontradas nos sistemas de ligas de alta entropia. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi preparar e caracterizar as ligas selecionadas FeCrNiCoAlCu e FeCrNiCo(AlCu)0,5. A preparação da liga foi realizada em forno a arco voltaico em atmosfera protegida. A caracterização microestrutural foi realizada através de microscopia ótica e microscopia eletrônica de varredura e por difração de raios-X. A caracterização mecânica foi realizada por medidas de dureza Vickers e por ensaio de compressão a frio. Os resultados mostram que ambas as ligas são constituídas por soluções solidas de estrutura dendrítica. A microdureza e o limite de escoamento compressivo da liga FeCrNiCo(AlCu)0,5 foi superior à liga FeCrNiCoAlCu.

A concept is presented to improve underground coal mine electrical system safety and availability. This proposed technique is based upon the ability to predict incipient failures in the mine power system. Prediction is made possible by a new method, developed during this research, which uses a minicomputer to implement pattern recognition algorithms. The theoretical basis of the prediction system is discussed, along with synthesis of the hardware and software sections. The deterioration modes which could be detected are examined, and an evaluation of the system's ability to predict incipient failure is presented. Typical results of the system's performance during laboratory simulation of power system deterioration are given.

"On the west coast of Cape Breton Island four coal basins have been identified, varying in age and extending from Port Hood northeasterly to Chimney Corner. Those of Chimney Corner - St. Rose in the north and Port Hood in the south belong to the Pennsylvanian Riversdale Group while lying between them are the coal basins of Mabou and Inverness belonging to the younger Pictou Group. Almost all of the coal basins are submarine and coal mining was carried out on all basins at various times. The seams in all basins dip steeply seaward at angles from 10 to 20 degrees but were found to flatten seaward. The coal is ranked as a high volatile C bituminous coal. Ash and sulphur contents are high compared with Sydney coal and the coal has a tendency to spontaneous combustion when stored in large quantities.Of the four basins, the most significant is that of Mabou. At Mabou recent seismic and drilling investigations have indicated that although a sizable reserve of coal may be found offshore the structural problems, particularly faults, and the poor quality of the coal encountered will make it a resource of the future, if at all. Inferred resources have been calculated at 150 million tonnes in four seams over a 10 km2 area and extending 3 km from shore. The quality of the Mabou coals varies with ash, ranging from 5 to 25 per cent and sulphur up to 6 per cent. Calorific value ranges from 25.3 Mj I kg to 31. 7 Mj I kg. The Port Hood and St. Rose -Chimney Corner fields (Fig. 1) contain 16 million and 3 million tonnes respectively, but the Inverness basin is considered to have been depleted. The active mine in this area is the Evans Mine at St. Rose that is currently producing between 30 -50,000 tonnes a year from proven reserves of approximately 3 million tonnes."

A soil cover isolates potentially acid-forming (PAF) mine wastes from atmospheric interaction and thereby mitigates acid mine drainage. As a cover that comprises either a single layer or a composite barrier, it essentially manages percolating rain water from flowing into these PAF materials and minimises air flow as oxygen has low diffusivity in saturated soils. However, the availability of suitable soils as cover materials is limited, especially in arid and semi-arid regions where weathering rates are low.This paper investigates the potential use of mine wastes as cover materials in a water-shedding soil cover in north-west Queensland. Four cover trial plots were built using mine wastes as cover materials. Each 2.3 m cover trial plot consisted of a 1.5 m soil cover made up of waste rocks and fines, a 0.5 m drainage layer that consisted of 0.1 m waste rock aggregates and a base layer made up of blended mine tailings. The hydrologic properties of cover materials were determined by in situ measurements and laboratory experiments, which, in turn, were used as input in a numerical model that described the cover’s transient soil moisture profile. The successful performance of the cover is reliant on the long-term stable geochemical behaviour of the substrate used as cover material. Therefore, investigations were carried out to determine the geochemical properties of the cover materials constructed from benign waste rock using static and kinetic tests, with the objective to increase the level of certainty of the material’s benign characteristics. Diffi-lsion measurements were conducted at all compositims in the bcc solid solution of the U-Nb system employing incremental couples at composition intemals of 10 at. pct. Diffusion coefficients were determined by the Matano method from concentration gradients obtained with the electron-probe microanalyzer. The activation energy for inter-diffi-lsion as a function of compositim shows three distinct regions: 1) 80 to 100 pct U.6= 30 kcal per mole; 2) 20 to 80 pct U, $ - 70 kcal per mole; 3) Oto 20 pet U, Q = i40 kcal per mole. The frequency factor, fi0 and the activation energy $ were found to be roughly related by the following equation: log Do ^9.7 X IO-5Q -6,6. The Kirkendall marker movement indicates that DU is larger than DNb between 16 and 100 pct U and DNb is larger than DU from 0 to 4 pct U. FOR practical as well as fundamental reasons, the rates of diffusion in alloys are of considerable consequence. Most solid-state reactions are largely dependent upon the diffusion of atoms through the lattice structure and along grain boundaries. The high-temperature strength and reasonable nuclear properties of niobium have prompted its use as a reactor material in contact with uranium fuel. Hence, diffusion data for the U-Nb system are of considerable importance. In the previous diffusion study1 on the U-Nb system using pure element couples, reliable data were obtained only in the range of 0 to 10 at. pct Nb due to the large variance of the diffusion coefficient with composition. Also, a large Kirkendall effect and considerable porosity in the uranium-rich areas of the specimen were reported, which suggests that the true diffusion coefficients are somewhat larger. The purpose of the present study was to obtain reliable diffusion coefficients at all compositions using incremental diffusion couples with intervals of 10 at. pct. In view of the abnormal self-diffusion be- havior of y uranium2-4 and some other bcc transition elements,&apos;-&apos; it was felt that a comparison of the interdiffusion coefficients in the bcc U-Nb system with those of Reynolds et al.9 for the fcc gold-nickel system might shed some light on the diffusion mechanism involved. Both systems have similar phase diagrams, in that complete solid solubility exists above a miscibility gap. EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE The uranium used in this investigation was obtained through the courtesy of Argonne National Laboratory. An analysis of this material detected only Si-30, A1-7, C-6, N < 10 and 0-18 ppm. The niobium was electron-beam melted material obtained from Stauffer-Temescal. The gaseous impurities were less than 50 ppm, and the spec troc hemical analysis showed Ta-500 and W-200 ppm. U-Nb alloys were prepared at composition intervals of 10 at. pct by melting the appropriate amounts of the pure elements in an arc furnace. The buttons were inverted and remelted 6 times to assure complete mixing. The buttons were then wrapped in molybdenum foil, canned in Zircaloy-2 or stainless steel, and hot rolled 30 pct reduction in thickness at temperatures between 850" and 1100°C. Alloys with 10, 20, 30, 40, and 90 at. pct Nb rolled quite easily under these conditions, but the 50, 60, 70, and 80 pct alloys remained brittle. After melting and rolling (when possible), the alloys were annealed for 24 hr at a temperature within 100°C of their melting point in a dynamic vacuum of better than 4 x 10-8 mm Hg. These treatments produced alloys which were homogeneous on a 1 p scale within the detectability limits of the electron probe. During fabrication, the alloys picked up as much as 100 ppm Mo and 100 ppm Zr. Other elements checked for but not found were Co, Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, and Ti. The grain size of the annealed samples ranged from 3 mm for the uranium-rich alloys to 0.3 mm for the niobium-rich alloys. This permitted measurements of the concentration gradients in the diffusion samples without crossing more than one or two grains, thereby eliminating any grain boundary effects. Iron ore concentrate is used as the fresh feed of pelletising plants. The green pellet properties depend on iron concentrate characteristics such as particle size distribution (PSD), specific surface area (Blaine value), iron grade, moisture content and grinding methods. The grinding methods affects particle size distribution and Blaine value. To find out the effects of grinding methods on pelletising process, green pellets were produced with concentrates that were reground by means of HPGR (high pressure grinding rolls) and ball mill. The Blaine values of ground concentrates in both types of milling were approximately 1400, 1600 and 1800 cm2/gr. The results of green pelletising tests on a pilot plant scale showed that at the same Blaine values, drop numbers of green pellets produced by ground concentrate inside HPGR were higher than the green pellets produced by ground concentrate inside a ball mill. Also, reground concentrates by means of HPGR, in comparison with ball mill, caused the production of green pellets, at higher wet and dry compression strengths. As a result, it was found that preparing the pelletising feed by means of HPGR led to more positive effects on the properties of green pellets. Dado que toda actividad minera genera relaves -en tanto son altas concentraciones de químicos y elementos que alteran el medio ambiente- estos deben ser transportados y almacenados en «tanques o pozas de relaves» donde lentamente los contaminantes se vayan decantando en el fondo y se pueda recuperar el agua. En ese sentido, el presente texto señala el manejo de relaves compactados en el depósito de Ramahuaycco, a través de desaguar los tóxicos antes de ser depositados. Así, los relaves filtrados son primero espesados y luego filtrados para el contenido de agua adecuado para su disposición. Por razones de estabilidad, los relaves filtrados requieren ser compactados a través de la desecación de relaves in situ.

A corrosão provocada pelo CO2 associada ao tipo de escoamento é uma das mais agressivas ao aço de baixo carbono o API X65. O petróleo extraído do pré-sal de baixa profundidade apresenta maior concentração de CO2 podendo aumentar os pontos de corrosão nos equipamento e nas tubulações. O dióxido de carbono sendo um óxido ácido em contato com a água forma o ácido carbônico que reage com o metal formando camadas protetoras de óxidos ou de carbonatos. Essas camadas que ficam entre o metal e o fluído tendem em alguns casos atuarem como protetoras, mas à medida que aumenta a intensidade do fluxo essas camadas podem ser rompidas formando novos pontos de corrosão. As indústrias petroquímicas estão investindo em novos processos de perfuração e no desenvolvimento de novas ligas metálicas que possam conter a corrosão provocada pelo CO2 nos equipamento e nas tubulações que transportam o petróleo e seus derivados. Este trabalho tem por objetivo caracterizar a taxa de corrosão por CO2 em condições de fluxo do aço API X65, nas condições normais de temperatura e pressão, utilizando uma bancada de ensaio dinâmico (loop). Mantendo a concentração constante de CO2 em solução aquosa de NaCl 1% foi monitorado o pH, a temperatura e a concentração de íons ferrosos na solução. A taxa de corrosão foi determinada pela perda de massa, estabelecida após os ensaios. Como conclusão observou-se que CO2 provocou uma maior perda de massa para as amostra com maior rugosidade.
