"Karagedik Chromite Concentrator of the ETI Holding Co., which is located in Fethiye (south Turkey), has been producing chromite concentrate assaying 47-48 % Cr2O3 from the chromite ores containing 30-35 % Cr2O3 by using gravity separation methods since 1920. The tailings having 13-14 % Cr2O3, which had been removed from this plant, were accumulated at the stockpiles amounting about 1.2 million tons. In order to recover the ultra fine chromite particles from the Karagedik Concentrator tailings, the new process including Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separation and column flotation, was developed and the Karagedik Research Pilot Plant based on this process was commissioned in 2000. At this plant, the final concentrates assaying 46-48% Cr2O3 were produced and overall plant recoveries are about 60-65%.At the chromite concentrators using gravity separation methods, if their material size is about minus 1.0 mm, chromite particles especially pass to fine fractions according to their mineralogical structures and the ore-genesis (Önal and Güney, 1990). Generally, after crushing and grinding, the shaking tables and spirals are used at the chromite concentrators; therefore fine size chromite particles (-0.038 mm) are removed as tailings. Cr2O3 content of the -0.1 mm size fraction with 52.3% of the total amount is 19.58 % with Cr2O3 distribution of 82.6%.In order to upgrade the minus 0.1 mm size fraction of the tailings, assaying about 20% Cr2O3, Karagedik Research Pilot Plant (KRPP), which includes Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS) and Column Flotation units, was installed by Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Mineral Processing Section in 2000.Feeding material of the KRPP having 5 tons per hour capacity is obtained from stockpiles amounting 1.2 million tons. After attrition scrubbing, the feed is sent to a screen with aperture of 1.0 mm. The screen overflow, assaying 5-6 % Cr2O3 is removed as tailings. Screen underflow is classified to –1.0+0.1 mm and minus 0.1 mm size fractions by using cyclone and sieve bend. –1.0+0.1 mm size fraction assaying 6-7 % Cr2O3, is sent to existing gravity separation plant. Minus 0.1 mm size fraction is firstly fed to WHIMS for pre-concentration and non-magnetic product assaying 10-11 % Cr2O3 consisting of serpentine, talc and olivine minerals are separated as tailings. Also magnetic product (25-30 % Cr2O3) obtained from WHIMS is fed to the two stages conditioners after dewatered to 30 % solid ratio."

The present paper is about the restoration of the molybdenum production in the floatation plant of Ellatzite-Med AD in Bulgaria. The process, based on a working design, includes the construction of a new floatation molybdenum section in the existing molybdenum department of the Floatation Plant using the so called Vemco inert-gas floatation machines, made especially for the molybdenum floatation. While in the ordinary floatation machines, block impellers create suspension of the air, sucked from the atmosphere with the slime particles of the concentrate, which creates conditions for oxidizing the reagent, Vemco inert-gas floatation machines are covered with hermetic lids and the air inside the chamber is used. The technology, suggested by Geotechkoper Ltd. for making the working project, employs special machines from Dor Olliver Aimco, suitable specifically for molybdenum floatation in order to reduce the oxidizing of the reagent sodium hydrosulphate. Also the transport of the chamber product is done in hermetic conditions as the molybdenum flotation is done in two floatation rows and refining operations 3 to 8 are placed in the second row. Thus in the basic molybdenum floatation together with the first and second refining operations, which are hermetically closed, an ambient condition with low content of oxygen is created, that is about 8% for oxygen and about 92% of nitrogen, in which the oxidizing process is extremely reduced. This in turn results in reducing the consumption of the reagent depressor ? sodium hydrosulphate. In that way there is an improvement of the economical indices of the molybdenum production.

The heap leaching of oxide copper ores with copper cathode recovery by solvent extraction and electrowinning is now well established as a low-cost method of copper recovery. The main purpose of this study was to extract copper from the copper low-grade oxide ore of Chodarchaei mine using column leaching. The copper oxide ore contained 1.1% Cu and 1.75% Fe. The mineralogical analysis indicated the malachite (Cu2(OH)2CO3) was mainly composed of oxidized phases. The sulfuric acid leaching experiments were performed under the laboratory conditions. The influence of several parameters on the course of the reaction such as particle size, acid concentration, flow rate, and time was examined. The optimum collective extraction of copper and iron was obtained at a particle size of +10-15 mm for a leaching duration of 3 days with sulfuric acid concentration of 100 gpl and using a flow rate of 2.5 cc/min. Under these conditions, the recovery of copper and iron were 98.54% and 41.99%, respectively. Keywords: column leaching, copper, iron, working diagram.

"The deleterious effect of carbonaceous matter during cyanidation of gold ores (so called preg-robbing) has been recognized for many years. Based on this, a new method using flotation to reduce the content of carbonaceous matter was developed. Low-sulfide gold-bearing ore with carbonaceous matter of 0.14% from a Russian deposit was processed. The purpose of these tests was to compare two flow sheet options. Option I comprised removal of carbonaceous product prior to sulfide flotation. Option II comprised removal of carbonaceous matter from flotation concentrate. It was found that the content of carbonaceous material can be reduced in sulfide gold-bearing concentrate prior to leaching. High gold recovery was observed during the separation of carbonaceous material prior to sulfide flotation using Option I. Due to lower reagent consumption the costs for reagents were decreased using Option II. The results have shown the effectiveness of a new method. Patent No. 2783808 was obtained for removal of carbonaceous material prior to sulfide flotation. This information will be used to design a large processing plant flow sheet in Russia."

Kelsey Centrifugal Jig was found to be promising for the beneficiation of fine coal particles. The present study was aimed at in-depth understanding of the separation features of Kelsey Jig through detailed experimentation. Beneficiation of fine coal of size 150 x 300 µm was studied in a laboratory Kelsey Jig. The thickness of the ragging bed is found to be an extremely crucial parameter apart from the other process parameters such as rotational speed and pulsation frequency. A constant pulp density (25% solids) of the feed slurry was maintained in the study. The feed rate was also kept constant at 50 kg/hr dry solids. Silica sand of size -1.68+0.85 mm was used as ragging material to avoid the pegging of internal screen having an opening of 425 µm. The rotational speed was found to have significant effect on the depth of the ragging bed and its porosity, which influenced the separation performance considerably. Pulsation was identified as the key factor in stratifying the coal bed and defining the misplacement as well as ragging bed porosity, which influenced the mass yield and quality of the products. Beneficiation studies were carried out with rotational speed varying between 900-1000 rpm while pulsation frequency was kept within 850-925 rpm. In a single pass through the Kelsey Jig 7-8% (absolute) reduction in the ash content of the feed material was observed at more than 55% mass yield. High rotational speed, moderate pulsation, and low ragging bed depth favored good cleaning. A high bed depth was found to facilitate rejection of high ash materials. It was established that Kelsey Jig is effective in fine coal cleaning though a controlled operation is required in order to achieve superior performance. "Purification of zinc leachate plays a predominate role in zinc leaching refineries, to produce impurity free cathode sheets. As a part of such purification sequences, copper cementation with zinc dust is the preliminary step, since the presence of copper will preferentially deposit during zinc electro deposition and has the effect of reducing current efficiency. The cake thus produced is being accumulated as an inventory, due to invariable market and leading to space constraints & hazardous ambience. Hence, a project has been taken up for in-house generation of copper sulphate solution through ammonical leach followed by solvent extraction process and utilizing it as an active promoter for zinc sulphide flotation in Hindustan Zinc’s own captive mines. Cold purification cake majorly contains copper (30-40%) along with zinc (10-20%) and cadmium (2%). Confirmation to the above statement, photomicrographs of purification cake also confirmed the major presence of copper in metallic or oxidized form. In present work ammoniacal carbonate leaching of purification cake followed by solvent extraction using diketone based solvent has been studied under the influence of various parameters viz., temperature, agitation, pulp density, ammonia, CO2 dosages, solvent concentration, and impact of w/s zinc on leaching and solvent extraction. Leaching kinetics determined based on shrinking core model. Chemical reaction at unreacted core was found to be the rate controlling step. The estimated activation energy was found to be 24 KJ/mol. Leached copper has been extracted by solvent extraction with a ß diketone based solvent and is stripped with sulfuric acid as concentrated copper sulfate solution. The above established R&D findings are successfully implemented in the Commercial plant with a treatment capacity of two tons of cold purification cake per batch. Till now 500 MT of Purification cake has been treated, and generated 6500 MT of copper sulphate (55 g/l Cu), with final Cu recoveries between 87-90%."

"Based on PMA polymer, two kinds of novel macromolecular depressants, PMTA and PMA-PDTC, were designed and synthesized. PMTA was used for desilication in hematite reverse flotation. PMA-PDTC was used in the separation of Cu-Pb concentrate as galena depressant. The micro-flotation results showed that PMTA exhibited a good depression performance compared to starch. We found that 98.29% of hematite was depressed with a grade of 65.24% at pH 11 with 12 mg/L dosage. The flotation separation results of Cu-Pb concentrate demonstrated that PMA-PDTC was an effective depressant for galena in separating galena from chalcopyrite. When IPETC was used as collector, at pH 8.5, the flotation separation tests demonstrated that Cu concentrate was obtained with a grade of 28.89% containing 12.12% Pb.INTRODUCTIONThe role of depressants is crucial in the separation of oxide or sulfide minerals, for example, the desilication in hematite concentrate and the separation of Cu-Pb concentrate.It is well known that, in current reverse flotation processing of hematite, starch is a traditional depressant for hematite. Most research focus on the modification of starch [1-3]. Although its depressing ability is enhanced in some extent, its own shortcomings is still existed. So, it is important to develop a new hematite depressant instead of starch.In the separation of chalcopyrite and galena, because of their extremely similar floatability, it is difficult to realize the separation of these two minerals. Traditionally, there are two methods widely used in the separation of Cu-Pb concentrate by depressing chalcopyrite with cyanide [4] or depressing galena with dichromate [5] in most cases. However, these two inorganic depressants are toxic and hazardous. Their use could cause heavy pollution problems and a large loss of precious metals. In order to adapt to the requirements of sustainable economic development and environmental protection, the research and development of green and environmental depressant has gained more and more significance."

According to the unique properties and many applications of nano gold powder, it was prepared from an acid leaching tail solution. The low value residual gold ions were existed in acid leaching tail solution in Mouteh gold mine in Iran with fellow heavy metals as pollutants (FeP2+P, Cu P2+P, and ZnP2+P). Preparation of nano gold particles is achieved by two steps. First, by addition of ammonia as separation step and second using suitable reagents for precipitation/extraction step. Conditions control includes pH, residence time, temperature, agitation, and molar ratio of reducing agents to reagents. The optimum results show that nano gold powder was prepared by temperature of 250 °C, urea to gold molar ratio of 3:1, and reduction time of 20 min. Also, heat treatment improves dispersion of nano sized gold particles. The properties of gold nano powders were evaluated by SEM, A.A, and UV- Vis spectroscopy methods. The size of prepared particles were about 80nm to 90nm.

Cationic flotation using alkylamines and their derivatives as collectors, and characterized by high selectivity of mineral particle separation, is finding ever growing industrial application. In recent years the industrial application has been initiated of new cationic collectors - alkylmorpholines. Efficiency of cationic surfactants operation as collectors is dependent upon their colloid and sorption properties and the availability of silicate .carbonate rock-forming mineral impurities in the ore, which sorb the cationic collector. Investigations have been carried out on the influence of frothers and organic depressors with various compositions upon physical-chemical and flotation properties of alkylamines and alkylmorpholines. On the basis of these investigations requirements for organic depressor were developed and new flotation reagents were proposed (V-1 frother and KS-MF depressor). The use of new reagents enables one to decrease considerably the consumption of expensive cationic collectors and to enhance the floatability of coarse mineral particles. Data of new reagents industrial application is presented. The reagents developed can be used for flotation processing of other ores.

This paper presents a new process for producing industrial magnesium sulphate using waste water from titanium white plant and magnesium oxide from calcinations of magnesite ore as raw materials. With the laboratory experimental equipment, the waste liquid and magnesium dioxide react effectively at ambient temperature and under atmosphere pressure. Via the press filter, a clear liquid predominately containing magnesium sulphate is obtained. It is further evaporated and crystallized by cooling, separated by centrifuge and dried. Consequently a high quality of industrial magnesium sulphate is achieved as the final product. In the course of process, as the majority of valuable component (SO42-) is recovered in the final product, most of impurities from waste acid is being removed into the by- product. With the simple operational process, it is possible for titanium dioxide plant to resolve the environmental problem completely and benefit from the industrial magnesium sulphate product as well. The filter cakes containing valuable elements such as Mg, S, Fe, Mn, V, Ti are by-product proposed to be used for manufacture of agriculture fertilizer particularly for peanut planting.

On the basis of detailed studying of mineral structure of ore and treatment products it is established that the given ore refers to oxidized Pb-Zn vein-disseminated ores. Technological special features of the basic ore minerals and the reasons causing their obstinateness that is defined by following features are revealed, presence at dominating quantity difficult to float lead minerals: mimetesite (9.67%), green lead ore(0.48%); non float: bindheimite (2.16%) and plumbojarosite (0.36%) and high assay of oxides and hydrous ferric oxides; also thin, emulsive and submicroscopic segregations of the defined minerals in swamp ore. As a result of researches the scheme of gravitational-flotation treatment was conducted in semi-industrial scale. It allows to receive two concentrates from ore: a lead gravitational concentrate of mark ??-4 with the assay of 55.5 % of Pb and 0.77 % of Zn; and a Pb concentrate of mark ??-7 with assay of Pb of 40.97 % and Zn of 1.39 %. The total assay of Pb in concentrates makes 81 %. The efficiency offered by gravitational-flotation schemes is defined by possibility for recovery of big impregnated lead minerals under gravitation. The use of this method of gravitation has allowed to recover such mineral as beudantide and to exclude irrevocable losses of lead in tails which are connected with this mineral. Scientific value of the presented researches is connected with the fact the problem of extraction of the oxidized minerals of Bb and Zn is rather difficult and insufficiently studied. "The paper presents the results of study of the sorption and flotation properties of the reagents of plant origin - tannin and natural extracts of the oak bark and stems of plants, with a view to their application as a low-cost environmentally friendly modifiers of iron sulfide flotation for the recovery of minerals containing precious metals. The technique of preparation of plant extracts with a fixed content of extractable tannins has been developed.The mechanism of flotation reaction of tannin extracts has been identified as based on their adsorption on the surface of pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite to form strong complexes with iron (III) at concentrations below micelle concentration. It has been found that adsorption of plant extracts occurs without displacement of primarily adsorbed xanthate, and preliminary adsorption of xanthate did not preclude fixation of tannin on the mineral surface.It has been shown that plant extracts having hydrophilizing properties at low concentrations could be applied as selective depressants for pyrite, pyrrhotite and arsenopyrite in a weakly acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline medium. The use of plant modifiers could help to increase the quality of gold- and platinumcontaining concentrates and reduce the ecological impact on the environment."

"This paper presents the results of a study of the concentration of flotation froths in tapered chutes. The tests were conducted on lab and full-scale plants, and the results obtained were mathematically processed. The kinetics of monophase recovery from a stationary flotation froth, hydrodynamics of froth flows traveling in a tapered chute were investigated. The effect was studied of the mass fraction of the valuable component in the chute feed, yield of the chute’s overflow, and chute design on the concentration performance. Processing of the collected data revealed the general laws of the process and allowed to develop a technique for modeling concentration of the flotation froths of sulphide copper ore in a tapered chute to predict the performance without testing. It was found that concentration in tapered chutes allows to obtain products that are comparable in quality with froths after one or several cleaner flotation stages.INTRODUCTIONThe present production expansion rates require continuous improvement in the grade of flotation concentrates, while the grade of the mineral feed is constantly deteriorating. This leads to a significant complication of flotation flowcharts. Flowcharts become multi-staged with multiple cleaner flotations, negatively affecting the production costs.In recent years, researchers are paying close attention to the processes occurring in the froth layer in the flotation cells. Improving the concentrate grade is facilitated by secondary concentration of minerals in the froth layer, which consists in fixing the hydrophobic particles released as a result of the coalescence of the bubbles of the upper layer when moving downward at the liquid-gas interface of the froth layer. In this case, the released hydrophilic particles, trapped in the froth layer as a result of mechanical removal, migrate from the froth together with the liquid phase."

Accurate information of physical, chemical and metallurgical quality characteristics such as moisture content, iron grade and particle size are crucial for successful process control and for producing products within customer specifications. Correct moisture content of pellet feed is an important variable for successful balling of iron ore pellets and to minimize power consumption in the sintering process. Control of the filtering process in the pelletizing plant is therefore essential for both productivity and high product quality. The current measurement systems for moisture content at LKAB are based on two types of manual grab sampling, subsequently analyzed with rapid moisture determination methods. Previous studies of the measurement systems have indicated high sampling variability resulting in lowered possibilities for successful process control. The objective of the present study is to evaluate an alternative filter sampling approach and testing of on-line Infra-Red analysis (IR-analysis). On-line IR-analysis has the advantage of eliminating physical sample extraction and allowing for continuous monitoring of moisture content. However, this approach is sensitive to the surrounding environment, making careful calibration and control crucial for the quality of measurement results. Furthermore, as IR-sensors only target the surface of the conveyed pellet feed, several incorrect sampling errors need to be considered and counteracted to eliminate sampling bias and reduce the remaining measurement variability. Variographic characterization was applied to the two current grab sampling approaches of combined filtered material, to the alternative filter sampling method, and to the On-line IR-analysis. The results indicate that both the sampling of separate filters (using composite sampling and ISO-standardized moisture analysis), as well as a calibrated and well- maintained IR-sensor can improve the relative variability significantly, by lowering the total measurement system variance from 60% to 25%.

"Multimetal gold-antimony ores are complexed processing products, since they are characterized by veindisseminatedsulfide mineralization with fine-dispersed submicroscopic gold, low content and uneven distribution ofAu, which is concentrated together with iron sulfides (pyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite). Such ores are classified asrefractory ones and characterized by low gold recovery rates during cyanation. A particular feature of gold-antimonydeposits is the presence of antimony in industrial concentrations therein, along with gold that significantly increasesthe value of these deposits. The main antimony mineral is antimony sulfide - antimonite (stibnite). Gold-antimonyores undergo flotation concentration with producing collective gold-containing concentrates or gold sulfide andantimony concentrates. The purpose of the work is an experimental study of the flotation separation mechanism ofsulfide minerals of copper, antimony and arsenic using tannin-containing modifiers during processing of multimetalgold-bearing ores. During the research it was established that for the selective separation of antimony and arsenicsulfide minerals into concentrates of different kinds, it is possible to use vegetable reagents capable to be selectivelyadsorbed on the arsenopyrite surface. Using the laser KEYENCE VK-9700 and electronic LEO-1420 VP INCA-350microscopy methods, it has been established that the film of a vegetable modifier was not washed off with water andfixed firmly enough on the surface of the polished sections of arsenopyrite. In the X-ray spectrum there are C and Obands related to the reagent structure. The vegetative reagent is fixed both on the pre-adsorbed phase of the collectorand on the areas free from the collector. On the polished sections of antimonite before and after a contact with thetannin solution, only partial adsorbed tannin phases are detected, which disappear as a result of subsequent washingwith water.The reported study was funded by RFBR according to the research project ? 16-05-00646 ?."

The research aimed to compare the chemical analysis (K, Na, Cl) of Iranian concentrate plants, which are the main source of materials corrosion in the pelletizing plants. Cl alongside alkaline elements (especially K) may cause corrosion and plug in the grate plates and other involved equipment. Therefore, it is tried in the processing plants to remove impurities from the concentrate to prevent potential problems in pelletizing and iron/steel making processes. Part of these impurities are existed in the nature of ores and others are sourced in the processing water. Various samples from the largest Iranian concentrate plants including Chadormalu, Gol-e-Gohar, Jalal-Abad and Sechahun were prepared to investigate the possibility of alkaline problems for each samples. The amount of Cl, K and Na of Chadormalu sample was obviously low and therefore no alkaline problem is expected. The Cl content of Gol-e-Gohar sample was high (980 ppm) while amount of K was less (0.008 Wt. %). Due to low content of K, most of Cl will release as Cl2 or HCl and so problems caused by KCl plugging would not be a problem. The amount of Cl in Sechahun case was nearly same as Jalal-Abad (400-600 ppm), higher than Chadormalu and less than Gol-e-Gohar samples. However, the K content was higher than all samples (0.04 Wt. %). Therefore, the amount of evaporated K would be 2-4 times more than other samples. Since the amount of Cl and K is simultaneously higher than usual iron ores, therefore alkaline problems may be a serious prevention factor for the continuous operation of this plant. In order to solve this problem some counter-measures is suggested and discussed including cleaning system, partial dust enriched with KCl removal and variation in the materials type of involved equipment.

"The geological environment of the certain uranium-molybdenum deposit is very complicated. While the study of process mineralogy is relatively few, which restricting the processing and leaching effect of ores. According to reaserch on process mineralogy of this mine, the basis of ore processing can be provided. The main contents of research are the uranium occurrence state and the influence of H2O2 in acid leaching. By various methods and experiments, the process of uranium mineralogical characteristics in this deposit are systematically studied. The results show that the uranium is mainly in the form of independent uranium minerals. The structures of these uranium minerals are venous and disseminated in mineral fissures, or microgranular inclusions in quartz and feldspar. It is not appropriate to concentrate the uranium minerals by flotation beneficiation because that the loss rate of target metals via water leaching process is very high. The ores are suitable for being acid leaching directly with 6% – 8% of H2O2, and the maximum leaching rate of uranium can be 96.88%. INTRODUCTION The uranium ores with associated elements have a large proportion in uranium resources (Lei, et al., 2014, Xing, et al., 2006; Ritchy and Wong, 1985). The uranium and molybdenum are easy to be paragenesis in nature enviroment because of their similar chemical properties. Therefor the uranium-molybdenum associated deposits are widely existing, such as the sedimentary sandstone uranium deposit in American with vanadium and molybdenum, the sedimentary sandstone uranium deposits in French with vanadium (Chen, et al., 2014; Lounis, 1997). A certain epithermal porphyry uranium-molybdenum deposit in China is mainly controlled by the subrhyolite- porphyry and the fault zone (Lv, 2012; Rui, 2010; Liu, et al., 2010). The ore properties of this deposit are complex, which include the high alteration degree, and the fine grain size of the target minerals (Ma, et al., 2013). The ore properties and occurrence state are quite different during each mining stage. As a consequence, the consumption of reagent increased and the leaching rate declined as long as the continuously mining. The author explored the best leaching rate of target elements According to the basic research on process mineralogy of present ores, experimental study of water leaching and oxidizing acid leaching on different particle sizes."

"Energy is vital for economic growth and sustainable development. Greater efforts are being devoted to developing unconventional energy resources such as oil shale as an alternative promising source of oil or solid fuel supplement. The main object of this contribution is to determine the upgrade potential of El-Nakheil oil shale using froth flotation. Samples were prepared by comminution followed by sieving into different size fractions. The flotation behavior of the material and extent of cleaning was studied with respect to nonionic and ionic collectors of anionic and cationic types. It was found that the organic rich portions could not be rendered sufficiently hydrophobic by the used collectors and selectivity towards surfactant was very low."

"The removal of finely dispersed mercury from the effluent of small-scale gold mining operations and the eventual recycling of the recovered mercury was investigated. The conventional method of amalgamation, or “ball milling”, involves the mixing of a substantial amount of mercury with ore to recover free gold during the grinding stage. During grinding, a portion of the mercury is transformed into minute droplets, which readily float and disperse in the effluent. A kilo of gold ore containing 20-30 g Au/t, when ground with 3 g of mercury, yields 0.005 to 0.050 mg/l of mercury in the effluent, exceeding the concentration of 0.002 mg/l allowed by law for surface water.A rapid recovery/ recycling process was introduced using the surface-chemical properties of finely dispersed mercury in aqueous suspension. It was observed that fine droplets of mercury in an aqueous environment readily attached onto a collector having positive surface potentials for pH 3 to 10. An example of a suitable collector is alumina (Al2O3), which has an iso-electric point of pH 9.8. When an effluent, coming from a settling procedure after an amalgamation-grinding stage, was passed through a column-bed packed with alumina fiber, removal and subsequent collection of finely dispersed mercury occurred under acidic conditions, pH 3-6. Recovery was around 99.5%, yielding an acceptable quality of water safe for disposal into the aquatic environment. The collected droplets of mercury, which are left in the column-bed of alumina fiber, were subsequently treated with a cleansing solution at alkaline conditions pH 10 -12. At these conditions, both mercury and alumina fiber carry negative surface potentials, which results in the eventual detachment of attached mercury from the alumina collector. The effective recovery of attached mercury from the alumina collector by the detachment procedure is only 30-35%. The collected mercury from the cleansing stage can be collected, cleaned and can be used for subsequent amalgamation processes. The attachment and detachment behaviour of finely dispersed mercury onto and from the microscopic collector alumina is shown in Figure 1. The result of attachment and detachment were analyzed using existing interaction energy theories like the Darguin-Landau- Verwey- Overbeek (DLVO) Theory."
