The intelligent recognizing and processing system for sinter ore mineragraphy make a great convenience of recognition and measurement. Specially, it?s critical important for a successful intelligent system to extract the minerals? feature accurately and sufficiently. Reflection index, as the crucial feature of mineral, is calculated by the theoretical calculating model of index based on the principle of imaging color models. In gray histogram of minerals? micrograph, the peaks? positions represent the information about mineral categories and contents. The relationships of different minerals? peak-positions in curve of gray histogram were got by using the peak-find model of gray histogram and calculating model of reflection index. These two models which can be regard as the method of feature extraction for minerals? photomicrograph also lay a good foundation for the artificial intelligent system of recognition and processing in sinter ore.

"The use of ball mills for fine grinding is an inefficient process and has contributed to the increasing popularity of vertical stirred grinding mills in the minerals industry. Over the last decade, the performance and energy efficiency of stirred milling technology has become a preferred alternative to ball mills for fine and regrinding operations. The difficulty encountered in fine grinding is the increased resistance to comminute small particles when compared to coarse particles. Therefore, increased energy inputs are then necessary to raise the number of stress events in a mill to contribute to the comminution of fine particles. This work discusses the effect of operating conditions on the amount of fines produced and torque readings in a screw type batch laboratory vertical stirred mill. A time-based population balance model (PBM) was used to empirically analyze the performance of a vertical mill and to calculate mill breakage parameters for the different operating conditions tested. The results indicate the possibility of applying population balance model to the vertical stirred mill to predict product size distribution with acceptable accuracy. The obtained breakage function shows that the main breakage mechanism in this vertical stirred mill is by attrition, and that the selection function changes with experimental conditions within the mill. Higher agitator velocities are also seen to promote an increase in the degree of attrition between grinding media hence particle selection and fines generation increase.INTRODUCTION Stirred milling technology has been firmly established in the last 20 years as superior to ball mills for fine and regrinding operations due to its superior energy efficiency (Jankovic, et al., 2006). Stirred mills are now commonly used in many sectors of the mining industry, though they have been used in other industries for many years (Stehr & Schwedes, 1983). "Magnetic separation techniques are used extensively in mineral processing operations. Magnetic separators are robust and relatively easy to operate. As the ore get hard and low grade, fine grinding must be required mostly to allow for a high degree of mineral liberation. These processes encounter the magnetic separation process difficulty due to a significant change in the separation behavior of particles. This study investigates the effectiveness of a novel proven wet magnetic separator for the beneficiation of Lebedinsky (Russia) iron ore achieved through developing pole arrangement and tank design. Basis on the results of multiphasic simulation of a medium intensity magnetic separator (MIMS) and dense media tank using Magnetic Design Software, a new model of the MIMS separator was developed. The main of the new MIMS separator was focused on improving separation and the decreasing the number of separators in cobber stage of the plant. The new MIMS separator was tested into a pilot plant on the received samples from Lebedinsky iron ore plant. In addition to the basis on the results of the modeling, promising results of test work and previous experiences, it was claimed the unit capacity of new separator is 33.33% more than the existing separator that could decrease the number of separators. In addition, the significant energy saving in the same operational condition could be obtained without any important adverse effect on the final concentrate quality.INTRODUCTION Magnetic separation is a long-established method for the purification and removal of substances from fluids (Augusto et al., 1999; Buck et al., 2015; Hoffmann et al., 2002; Lauda et al., 2016; Lindner et al., 2010; Podoynitsyn et al., 2016; Rashidi et al., 2016), mainly in mining processing industries ranging from steel production to coal desulfurization as commercial technology (Andres, 1994; Augusto, 2002; Svoboda, 1987). High gradient magnetic separation as an effective method for recovering of weak and fine magnetic particles separation has undergone dramatic developments, and has also achieved extensive application during this time (Svoboda and Jujita, 1987). Magnetic separation operations can be categorized into high intensity as electrical (up to 20,000 gauss), Medium intensity (2000-5000 gauss) and low intensity (less than 2000 gauss) techniques. Magnetic separators offer a simple, clean and economic way to sort magnetizable ores and minerals. After pulverization, the material is run through an inhomogeneous magnetic field, where particles of different susceptibility experience different magnetic forces. The force increases with susceptibility, magnetic field and field gradient (Jongst et al., 1984).In magnetic separation, the difference in the susceptibilities of the various particulate materials is used to separate the material flow into two or more products (Wasmuth and Unkelbach, 1991). "In concentrating production energy-consuming power installations are wide used, the most powerful of them are the wet autogenous grinding mill operating in closed circuit with a spiral classifier. The analysis of the current state of the automation of the grinding process shows that the reserves for maximizing productivity and minimizing electricity consumption have not yet been exhausted on the existing process equipment. Usage of the achievements of the modern management theory reveals an opportunity for further optimizing of the grinding process. The purpose of the research is to develop an automated control system of complex ""the mill-classifier"" to conduct the grinding process in the most operating efficiency, ensuring the maximization of productivity and minimization of specific electricity consumption. The main idea of this work is to study the specific features of the ore grinding process and creation on this basis of automated control system complex ""mill-classifier"" which allows to find and to maintain the optimal mode of grinding based on identification of the current object parameters, observance and regulating of the object state coordinates. Research methods. We used the methods of system analysis, mathematical statistics, modern automated control theory, theory of systems identification, optimal control, modelling of dynamic processes. Developed scientific provisions: - identification algorithm of the loading sub-system management object of complex ""mill - classifier"" allowing to obtain the unbiased estimators of its parameters according to the data of normal object exploitation; - observing device, which differs from the classic version of the observer Luenberger with possibility of estimating not only the state coordinates of the control object, but also the low-frequency perturbation component; - automated system stabilizing the active power of the grinding mode on the basis of a states controller with Luenberger observer; - structure of the software and hardware that implements the developed models, algorithms, methods of control, management and optimization in the framework of the automation of grinding."

"In mining and minerals industry, except profitability, there are some crucial factors that represent components in economic machinery of a mine and related activities. These are sustainability and minimizing environmental impact factor. Environmental concerns combined with the water and energy availability and related costs, as well as public license to operate all contrive to demand for more efforts targeting sustainability. Mining industry is highly energy-intensive (estimated to consume 6-7% of total world’s energy), with varying the energy efficiency across the industry resulting in significant costs. Size reduction is the main energy consumer contributing to almost 50% of the total energy used in mining. That means efforts must be made to introduce energy efficient comminution flow-sheets and machineries for sustainable development. Since the crushers are more energy efficient than mills, it is logic to push down-sizing in crushing stage(s) as far as technically possible. That has been strategy for Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology in supplying advanced and effective crushers to provide fine crushed product for subsequent milling stage. Lowering the energy consumption and related costs as well as increasing throughput have been the main objectives in design and development of comminution circuits and related machineries. Inefficiency in comminution technology, particularly in grinding, has long been regarded as a major area for investigation and development, especially when production of fines and ultra-fines are considered. In an attempt to explore the potential of fine crushing and its effects on subsequent milling process the fine crushing performance of Sandvik’s conventional cone crusher and Vertical Shaft Impactor (VSI) in pilot scale to define the energy consumption and circulating load in fine crushing. Tests were conducted to obtain fine crushed products at P = 2 mm in a close circuit. Furthermore, the crushed products were characterized and compared by grind-ability, morphology, and surface area measurement tests. Finally, the energy consumption to grind the crushed products to specific grind size was calculated."

The paper presents the results of research on the development of gold recovery technology from oxidized gold-copper ore of one of deposits in Russian Federation. Gold and copper grades in the ore are 9.5 g/t and 0.4%, respectively. Various options of flowsheets, such as direct cyanidation, thiourea leaching, flotation and gravity concentration followed by subsequent cyanidation of con-centration products, were tested. It was established that gravity-cyanidation technology with filtra-tion leaching tails and the use of solutions in the recirculation is the optimal option for ore treatment. The proposed flowsheet provides gold recovery for 91.0% at NaCN consumption 2.5 kg/t ac-cording to the results of pilot testing. Ammonia-cyanide gold leaching was also examined. In comparison with cyanidation, gold leaching solution in system NaCN-NH4OH-(NH4)2CO3 allows NaCN consumption to be reduced three times from 4.5 kg to 1.5 kg per 1 ton of the ore and provides the same gold recovery. Based on the laboratory and pilot plant tests results of gravity-cyanidation technology of gold dissolution, process design criteria were developed.

"Lithium discovered in La Vi deposit, Quang Ngai province in the Central of Vietnam was estimated with a reserve of approximately 1.5 million tones of lithium ore, which was characterized by mainly lepidolite with muscovite, albite, and quartz. This study investigated reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions of enrichment technology for lepidolite from the mined ore by flotation process, and producing Li2CO3 and LiCl from lepidolite concentrate by hydrometallurgical process. The significant conditions for froth flotation of lithium ore including particle size, pH of ore slurry, pulp density, chemical spending (collectors, activators, depressants, and frothers), stirring and flotation time were investigated. The identified reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions for froth flotation the La Vi lithium ore processed lepidolite concentrate containing up to 4 wt.% Li2O with a recovery of 87.61 wt.%. The processes of sulfation roasting lepidolite concentrate using FeSO4.7H2O, then leaching in H2SO4 solution, and removing impurities were carried out to prepare a pure lithium-bearing solution for producing Li2CO3 and LiCl. The products containing 99.05 wt.% of Li2CO3 and 99.02 wt.% of LiCl were obtained with recoveries of 82.97 wt.% and 85.77 wt.%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that lithium ore in La Vi deposit can be processed to produce commercial lithium products and lead the study to develop technology for a new industry of lithium processing in Vietnam.INTRODUCTION Lithium is the lightest metal, which has many superior properties in both metal and compound (such as Li2CO3, LiCl...) states since its discovery in 1817 by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson. Lithium is a favourable material for many high technology fields such as aerospace industry and chemical industry. Some industrial fields which present the main consumptions of lithium include ceramic, glass, aluminum alloy, lubricants, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, synthetic rubber, and pharmaceuticals. The worldwide production of lithium in 2014 was 31,700 tones, continually increased in 2015 of 5% presented 32,500 tones (USGS, 2016). The demand for lithium tends to increase because of the raising in consumption of lithium batteries. Lithium is mined from salar brines, mainly in Chile and Bolivia, but also from granites and pegmatites, which contain minerals with high lithium content such as spodumene - LiAlSi2O6 (Heinrich et al., 1978; Linnen et al., 2012); petalite - LiAlSi4O10 (Sitando & Crouse, 2012); zinnwaldite - KLiFe2+Al(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2 (Paukov et al., 2010; Kondás J. & Jandová J., 2006); lepidolite - K(Li,Al)3(Si,Al)4O10(F,OH)2 (Luong et al., 2013); and amblygonite - LiAlPO4F (Garrett, 2004)."

"At the processing plant Erdenet, a new facility for advanced ore diagnostics in-stream (at the conveyor), based on optical analyser of mineral composition, was tested. Such systems provide highly accurate in-stream measurements of ore properties. The system provided information on the ore mineralogical composition, the particle size distribution and the impregnation of minerals. A special flatbed facility for optical spectrum-based estimation of fine-crushed ore has been developed, being incorporated into the existing system of ore sampling and analysis. Application of the flatbed facility renders possible a high accuracy of determining ore mineralogical composition. High precision of the optical spectrum-based estimation is achieved using special devices, installed in the sampling and the sample analysis flow sheet, applied by the technical control department. Modern systems for optical spectrum-based estimation of ore grade provide a basis for effective automated control of ore benefication processes, based on the principle of advanced ore grade control. Process management task of grinding and flotation was to choose options that take into account the composition and grade of the ore coming. The calculation data array comprises consumption of reagents, ore processing, grind size etc. The systems implemented at the processing plant contributed to increasing copper and molybdenum recovery. INTRODUCTION In-stream ore grade analysis is a new trend in effective control of ore benefication processes. This is realised based on radiometric measurements in the X-ray and visible spectrum regions, in which mineral components of the initial ore (Sbárbaro and Villar, 2010) or the benefication products become apparent (Hyotyniemi and Ylinen, 1998; Haavisto and Hyötyniemi, 2010). An important advantage of such methods is in-stream measuring ore parameters, including mass fractions of individual minerals, which makes it possible to use the information obtained in the processes of automated control."

It is difficult to remove arsenic and bismuth from antimony in the process of crude electro refining. The electro refining of antimony has been studied using ammonium fluoride-antimony sulphate electrolyte system. The Influence of temperature, current density and additives on arsenic and bismuth removal from crude antimony has been investigated in this paper. Optimum process parameters, namely, temperature of 25?, current density of 400A/m2, distance between anode and cathode of 50mm, electrolytic period of 24 hours, oxalic acid dosage of 10g/L and complexon III dosage of 0.2 g/L have been ascertained.

"The purpose of this research is to develop enhancements in the mineral processing by flotation methods of nonferrous ores. Currently, 180-190 million tons of ore are processed by flotation in Russia. The annual processing volume of copper-nickel and copper-zinc ores exceeds 20 million tons. In the total volume of processed ores by flotation, non-ferrous ores account for roughly 35% and ores of precious metals for another 15%. The total demand of flotation reagents in Russia in 2016 was estimated at 170,000 tons. Sulfur-based collectors used in the flotation of non-ferrous sulfide ores (typically, xanthates) do not always offer sufficiently high recovery of valuable components.It has been found that reagents like DMIPEC and DK-80 improve the recovery of metals into concentrates. To identify the reasons of that higher recovery, quantum chemical calculations of the mechanism and interaction forces of DMIPEC with non-ferrous sulfides were undertaken by determining the stabilization energy of the resulting chemical complexes. It has been shown that, in the interaction of DMIPEC and DK-80 with the surfaces of sulfide minerals, ethylene and acetylene bonds act as the reaction centers, and the formation of molecular p-complexes is the result of metal-cation interactions with the surface and the flotation reagents.In the flotation of non-ferrous ores, DMIPEC and DK-80 act as selective supplementary collectors with foaming properties, and at a flow rate of 3-35 g/ton, they reduce the flotation time, and increase copper recovery by up to 3.5%, zinc recovery by up to 12%, gold recovery by up to 8-10%, allowing to increase the recovery of valuable components by 1.5-12.0%, basically this kind of reagents nearly double the flotation rate, improve the grade of the concentrate, improve the stability of the flotation process parameters, and reduce the environmental impact of flotation plants."

"Research at Delft University aims to develop systems for automatic inspection and sorting of bulk solids which can be applied in the mineral processing and recycling industry. A recent development includes an automatic sorter based on airport X-ray inspection technology. It is designed for continuous inspection and sorting of 5 - 150 mm solids and has as objective a cost effective and high capacity on-line inspection and sorting.Dual energy X-ray transmission imaging provides instantaneous data about particle dimensions and the atomic number distribution. The system provides particle thickness and average atomic number on a pixel level at scanning speeds between 250 and 500 lines / second. With existing X-ray components inspection speeds between 0.5 and 2 m/s at approximately 1-meter inspection width and between 1.5*1.5 and 5*5 mm2 sensor resolution can be achieved.Imaging algorithms that were developed by Delft University for applications in recycling, waste cleaning and other applications acquire shape, size distribution and composition data. Currently on-line processing of a product at a rate of around 200 particles per second is possible using a standard PC. Experiments with a demonstration X-ray unit indicated good potential for various applications in solids processing. They include continuous inspection of organic content, sulphur, chlorine, ash, and metal distribution. It is applicable for coal cleaning, ore sorting, industrial minerals, and various applications within waste cleaning and recycling. Dual energy X-ray transmission fundamentals and recent progress in system development and applications are presented."

Reverse froth flotation experiments were carried out in the laboratory using two different types of kaolins for the separation and removal of coloring titanoferrous impurities from cryo-filtered clay after subjecting to high shear pre-treatment. This high shear pre-treatment consists of high shear agitation of a high solids clay slurry with the dispersant (high shear dispersion, HSD) followed by high shear agitation with the collector (high shear conditioning, HSC). After this pretreatment, the slurry is diluted and reverse flotation is carried out. One sample is from, Gujarat, India (Mamuara clay, ?MC?) while the 2nd sample is from Amberg, Germany (AKW clay, ?AC?). While MC consisted of 89% particles below 2µm and analyzed 1.06% of TiO2 and 0.29% Fe2O3 and measured a brightness of 83.4 %ISO, the corresponding values for AC are 67% below 2µm, 0.3% of TiO2? 0.49% Fe2O3 and 83.4 %ISO. The flotation performance is found to be greatly influenced by the conditions of high shear treatment. Important variables are HSD intensity (rpm), HSD time, HSC intensity (rpm), HSC time, HSD/HSC time ratio, ?HSD+HSC? total time etc. Higher shear intensities favor both the impurity liberation and collection. For both clays, it could be shown that impurity removal increases as total pretreatment time (?HSD +HSC? total time) increases up to a certain limit. For MC, the HSD time was only half or less than that of HSC time, while for AC, HSD time is at least twice (or more) than HSC time which is just an opposite manifestation. This is believed to be due to the striking differences between these two clays. Most importantly, the shear frequency is found more influential than the shear rate for the overall flotation performance for both clays. Interestingly, at high shear frequencies, i.e., when a stirrer with more number of teeth on the rotor is used, the ?HSD+HSC? total time is greatly reduced. Again, increased shear frequency helps to reduce flotation time and significantly improves flotation performance. At optimum conditions, product titania reduced to 0.35% for MC whereas the same reduced to 0.13% for AC. The product of flotation of MC measured 85%ISO brightness while that of AC measured84.6%ISO thus enhancing the value of the final product. It could also be established that the high shear pre-treatment shows better flotation performance than that due to collector dosage. "Water is a necessary process medium in mineral processing. For the operations where fresh water is not available, sea water could be used as an alternative processing medium to replace the fresh water if we would have built a solid understanding of the interfacial science and flotation chemistry of sulfide minerals in sea water. In this research, micro flotation of chalcopyrite and pyrite in deionized water and sea water were investigated. For chalcopyrite, the recovery starts to drop from pH 10 in deionized water and from pH 9 in sea water, and the flotation recovery close to 100% before it drops. We can found from the results that chalcopyrite flotation is depressed much at pH 11 in sea water when much white precipitate is found. For pyrite, the flotaion recovery changs a lot in deionized water with 1*10-5 M potasium amyl xanthate (PAX) as collector. It’s relatively high at pH 8~10 compared with that at pH<8 and pH>10. While in sea water, the trend is almost the same as that of chalcopyrite. Zeta potential measurements and chemical equilibrium calculation were used to find out that magnesium hydroxide species coats on the surfaces at high pH in sea water are the main reason for depressing the chalcopyrite and pyrite flotation. Through understanding the interfacial science and the solution chemistry of sea water and its impact on processing efficiency, this research will not only helps reduce the use of fresh water to minimize the disposal of spent water for environment protection, but also enhance the recovery of valuable minerals in froth flotation."

More and more researches and applications of organic chelating agents as depressors or activators are carried out in the course of research and application of modern flotation. The paper puts forward the necessary condition of organic chelating agents as depressors or activators by analyzing the chelating chemical performance of organic chelating agents with metal ions and the stability of chelates formed by them; at the same time, puts forward four sufficient conditions of organic chelating agents as depressors or activators according to different hydrophilic capability of the chelates and different performance of depression and activation of organic chelating agents for minerals. Namely, the ?1+1/4? necessary and sufficient conditions of organic chelating agents as depressors or activators are put forward.

"The flotation process of native Rare Earth minerals such as bastnasite, monazite, mixed minerals of bastnasite and monazite, using the new effective collector Dh was studied in this paper, respectively, and the flotation properties are described. The good qualities of the new collector Dh were revealed through comparing with other collector of Rare Earth minerals. The test results of different ore samples show that at moderate pulp pH (8.5-9.5), Rare earth minerals can be effectively separated from barium, calcium and silicon bearing intergrowth minerals (barite, calcite and silicate minerals) and high quality Rare Earth concentrates can be obtained successfully by the new collector Dh, acid silica gel, turpentine and reagents fitting together rationally. In order to determine optimum technical conditions, the effect of pulp pH, pulp temperature, pulp density and the effect of dosage of reagents (Dh and acid silica gel) on the flotation were investigated in the test.Simultaneously, the paper explores the mechanism of the flotation of Rare Earth minerals from intergrowth minerals. The infrared spectra for Dh and Rare Earth cation by analysis in theory shows that Dh formed chelate complex with Rare Earth cation and were adsorbed on the surfaces of Rare Earth minerals. The mechanism of the intergrowth minerals depressed by acid silica gel can be explained as gummy colloid hydrolyzed from acid silica gel which are selectively absorbed on the gangue minerals, making them hydrophilic and depressed, with pulp pH value of alkalescent."

In Canadian oil sands processing, flotation is used to recover liberated bitumen droplets from oil sands slurries. Similar to conventional mineral flotation practice, a fundamental limitation of recovering bitumen from low grade oil sand ores is its slow and ineffective aeration of the liberated small bitumen droplets. Gas nucleation and cavitation could provide better mechanisms for accelerating bitumen-bubble attachment. A research program was undertaken to examine factors affecting spontaneous bubble nucleation on bitumen surfaces. The results demonstrate that surface hydrophobicity and existence of gas nuclei in process water play a critical role for bubble nucleation. While there are more bubbles nucleated on highly hydrophobic silanated glass surfaces than on moderately hydrophobic bitumen, bubble nucleation on clean hydrophilic glass surfaces is negligible. Heating process water up to 85 ~ 95oC (as used in commercial operation) or boiling tap water prior to gas nucleation tests is shown to remove sufficient amount of gas nuclei existing in the water, thereby drastically reducing the number of bubbles nucleated on bitumen. Enhancing gas nuclei formation in hot process water is identified as a promising strategy to improve bitumen-bubble attachment during oil sands conditioning, and hence to increase bitumen recovery from low grade ores.

"The mineral surface characteristic is important for the flotation because it affects the flotation behavior of the mineral. Conventionally, in the flotation process for Cu sulphide ores, the degree of ore floatabilities varies depending on the mineral phase such as chalcopyrite, bornite, or chalcocite. Therefore, mineral surfaces are treated with activators and depressants to control the floatability of target minerals and obtain high recovery performance. There are lots of flotation reagents which have many effects on ores depending on ore characteristics and conditioning methods. For example, sodium hydrosulphide (NaHS) as activator is known to have the effect of resulfurizing and activating oxidized surface of chalcocite and bornite. On the other hand, NaHS is reported to depress chalcopyrite floatability. In this study, the evaluation of mineral surfaces was conducted to predict flotation behavior. Activation of Cu minerals (chalcocite, bornite, and chalcopyrite) by NaHS was experimented. The three Cu minerals were treated in two steps. Firstly, they were oxidized in the drying oven. Secondly, they were treated with NaHS solution. After each treatment step, each mineral was measured by contact angle apparatus then analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results of surface characteristics after oxidation and NaHS treatment were utilized to accomplish the study’s objective. INTRODUCTIONCopper sulfide minerals such as chalcocite (Cu2S), bornite (Cu5FeS4), chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) are well-known abundant copper-containing minerals. Generally, these minerals are recovered and concentrated via collector flotation. In flotation, the wettability of the mineral surface is an important factor in its recovery. When the surface is hydrophobic, the mineral has high floatability and when the surface is hydrophilic, it has low floatability. Usually, Cu sulfide minerals have high floatability. However when their surfaces are oxidized, their floatability becomes lower in flotation. In this case of surface oxidation occurrence, activators are added before flotation to modify the surface property of the Cu sulfide minerals so that they can be floated at a certain flotation condition. Sodium hydrosulfide, NaHS, is known as one of the activators. Zhao et al. (2018) reported that NaHS is often used as sulfurizer for oxidized sulfide minerals (Becker et al., 2014, Clark et al., 2000, Newell et al., 2006, 2007, Newell and Bradshaw, 2007). Although the floatability of Cu sulfide minerals was raised by adding NaHS generally, the results of this flotation study showed that the flotation behaviors of mixed chalcocite, bornite, and chalcopyrite were different. Therefore, it was considered that NaHS works differently for each mineral."

The results of the test work on gold leaching using high strength of cyanide solution in the presence of activators are presented. The major physical and chemical relationships of gold leaching were determined. Intensive cyanidation results of gravity concentrates with various material compositions using an activator are given. The biological stage of reclamation is the third final stage in remediation the damaged mining terrains, which is carried out following the completion of the mining technical stage. The biological stage of reclamation is carried out through restoration of the vegetation layer. The biological reclamation includes all activities related to the introduction into the terrain of vegetation, microorganisms, insects, and animals, with the acceleration of the succession and creating conditions for a sustainable ecosystem close to the natural one. It comprises of all anti erosion and other activities such as the preparation of the land for growing agricultural crops, sowing grass seeds, planting seedlings, amelioration of the soil and further care for the vegetation until its final place on the land. Mineral and organic-mineral ameliorants for biological reclamation were studied. The basic mineral ameliorant is Bulgarian natural zeolites. The zeolitic-rich tuff samples provided from Golobradovo deposit was characterized by their chemical and mineralogical composition and ion exchange properties and X ray analysis. The average content of clinoptilolite was found to be more than 80%. The materials had ion exchange capacity (NH4+) varying from 100 to 110 meq/100g. Chemical modifications of natural clinoptilolites were made in order to form active phases of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and microelements. Slow-acting mineral ameliorant was developed. Organic-zeolite substrate for biological reclamation was developed. This new product is a mechanical mixture of organo-matter and modified zeolites. Agro-chemical parameters of new ameliorants were determined. The substrates including studied overburden dump soil and mineral or organo-mineral ameliorants are produced. "Due to complex mineral composition and fine ingrained nature concentration of iron ores deposited in Mikhailovskoye mine field requires application of wet magnetic separation to produce 65–66% Fetotal and 8.2–8.6 %SiO2, concentrate with 90–94% of material being –0.044micron grain size. Higher specific consumption of ROM, increase of production costs with concurrent reduction of output - those are inevitable side effects of desired concentrate grade improvement. Large-scale complex analysis and surveys have been carried out aimed at concentrate grade improvement with concurrent output increase. Classification of feed in hydraulic cyclones (hereinafter referred to as hydrocyclones) has been the bottleneck for improvement of processing throughput and concentrate output. Hydrocyclone classification efficiency is 50-60% and further improvement is practically impossible. Actual circulating load may achieve as much as 500-600% while the optimal rate is 200-250%. Application of wet fine screening has been considered to improve iron ore concentrate grade. Objective of this work is to design processing flow diagram for unoxidized ferruginous quartzites with implementation of wet fine screening. Large-scale tests have been run in Crushing and Concentrating Plant with application of wet fine screening stage. These tests included application of wet fine screening in 2 and 3 stages of classification to separate desired grain sized material; replacement of hydrocyclone classification with fine screening; application of fine screening as additional stages to concentration process and screening of final concentrate. Testing Methods. EXPERIMENTS AS WELL AS THEORETICAL RESEARCH HAVE BEEN APPLIED FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS WORK; INCLUDING MAGNETIC, GRAIN-SIZE AND CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF CONCENTRATION PRODUCTS. MODERN ANALYTICAL DATABASE HAS BEEN APPLIED TO STUDY WET FINE SCREENING FEATURES, MINERAL AND PHYSICAL COMPOSITION OF CONCENTRATION PRODUCTS. Work Results: - analysis of wet fine screening application for iron ore concentration. - technological solutions enabling to improve slurry classification of fine ingrained low magnetic iron ore have been developed. - effective process flow diagram including fine screening has been designed based on the feasible and reasonable arrangement solutions."
