Many open pit mines are now being mined at very significant depths, often at depths far greater than was originally planned. Even deeper open pits are also being planned, to depths that would be considered deep by underground standards. The heights of the resulting rock slopes are usually beyond the current experience and knowledge base. The exceptions are, perhaps, some very high and steep natural rock slopes. These natural rock slopes are also assuming greater significance owing to pressures of infrastructure development and consequent exposure of such infrastructure to the hazards of slope failure and landslides. Developments in road and rail infrastructure are also resulting in higher rock cuttings. Present understanding of the mechanisms of slope behaviour and failure for high slopes, and for slopes subjected to high in situ stress conditions, appears to be lacking. If the mechanisms of slope behaviour are not well understood, the validity of commonly applied methods of analysis of the stability of such slopes may be questionable. The papers in this specialist International Symposium, including papers on mechanisms and monitoring techniques, and case studies will contribute to the understanding of these issues. The Symposium has attracted good international participation, from both the attendance and authorship points of view. We are very grateful to all presenters and delegates for taking timeout of their very busy schedules to come and share their knowledge and we hope that all will benefit from this event. "SynopsisMetal accounting and reconciliation is an increasingly important governance issue in all mining operations, in that it is required, from a risk management perspective, that the company is in control of its product throughout the whole mining value chain. Reconciliation is a grossly misunderstood term. It means different things to different people, and therefore one of the purposes of this paper is to ensure a holistic and integrated understanding of ‘reconciliation’.Previously, where reconciliation was done, it was often for internal control purposes and loosely applied, sometimes with a low degree of confidence and understanding of the underlying parameters and their natural variability.In most mining operations, issues such as dilution, stope performance, and recovery are critical to profitability and long-term value, and thus understanding and control of these key value drivers is essential, not only from the governance perspective, but also from the perspective of maximizing shareholder returns. In order to implement a system for metal accounting and reconciliation, it is important that the cause and effect of these value drivers is understood, and that a systematic control system be established.While a number of off-the-shelf solutions exist for this work, it is the contention of this paper that a full understanding of the metal flow, its variability, its underlying loss potential, and its control points is necessary before a systematic approach to reconciliation can be undertaken.The paper also advocates that this approach should ensure that the reconciliation system clearly addresses the reconciliation needs, within a consistent framework. Such a framework has been developed by AMIRA, in terms of a metal accounting code. However, up until now, this code has been aimed at plant processes, whereas this paper shows how the concept can be extended to cover the full reconciliation requirements for a base metal mine.IntroductionReconciliation is defined as ‘the process of finding a way to make two different ideas, facts, etc., exist or be true at the same time’. In terms of a mining process, this refers to the comparison of measures and estimates along the value chain, and at different points in time, in order to track and optimize metal recovery. This leads to the notion of having a system in place for accounting for the metal. The University of Cape Town defines metal accounting as ‘… the estimation of (saleable) metal in a mine and subsequent process streams over a defined time period. Comparisons of estimates, from different sources over a specific time period, are called reconciliation.’Traditionally, metal accounting has consisted of geological reconciliations of mineral resource to mineral reserve conversion, mine planning reconciliation related to the reconciliation of long-term plans to short-term plans, grade control reconciliation of head grades to sampled or block grades, and mine survey reconciliation of tonnage discrepancies and mine call factors. In addition, metallurgical reconciliation has tended to be based on metal balancing, followed by some commercial metal accounting that links dispatched product to sales quality, quantities, and revenues. Miners disparagingly refer to this plant process as ‘millmatics’."

There are certain ores that can be treated without upgrading (e.g., gold and uranium ores), and upgrading needs to be considered only for fairly low-grade ores of this type. If the grade is very low, treatment will not be economic even with upgrading, and there is therefore a limited range of ore grades for which upgrading is suitable.

An assessment is made of the possible scope for the use of activated charcoal as the solid adsorbent in an upflow fluidized-bed contactor, and a pilot-plant programme for the recovery of low concentrations of dissolved gold in this contactor is described. It was found possible to produce an effluent that contains less than 0,01 p.p.m. of dissolved gold.

This presentation provides comments on the increasing challenges associated with pit slope designs from the perspective of a design reviewer. Besides the technical issues related to the significant increase in current and proposed slope heights since the primary methodology in current use for pit slope designs was developed, other factors are coming into play. These include changes in mining equipment and associated operating practices, as well as a growing awareness on the part of mining executives and other stakeholders of the significance of stable, or at least well-managed, slopes. In the latter area, the associated clarification of responsibility has led to the increased use of either in-house or independent review consultants working on the behalf of management. From a technical perspective, since the mid-1970?s there have been significant improvements in the tools, particularly analytical methods, that are available to slope designers. There is also an increased understanding of the importance of a detailed geological model, with strong emphasis on alteration and/or structure to form the platform for the slope designs. However, the basic technology for determining the rock strength aspects has changed little, although an expanding body of experience is being accumulated in its use and there is a reasonable degree of comfort in its application for slope heights of up to at least 500 m. In addition, slope management is now viewed as a critical part of the implementation of slope designs and this has been supported by continuing improvements in slope monitoring systems. In recent years safety has become a primary concern, in part as a result of some major slope failures that have attracted the attention of regulators and the public, as well as mining executives, who are being held more responsible for unsafe conditions and associated events. There is therefore a growing demand for risk assessments to replace the deterministic design approaches upon which the current design technology is largely based. The focus of mine executives on safety has undoubtedly in part facilitated the recent long overdue revitalization of research into the design and stability of large pit slopes, the requirement for which has been recognized for many years by practitioners. This research, as well as the CSIRO Large Open Pit Study, will almost certainly provide advances beyond the empirical strength determination methods such as the Hoek-Brown failure criterion, which form the basis for current rockmass strength determination. At the same time, as mentioned above, there is a growing awareness of the requirement for a detailed structural model as a major component of every large slope design. In addition, other areas requiring further research include the impact of groundwater pressures on rock mass strength, particularly in rocks with low permeabilities, and the role of stress in high open pit slopes. From the perspective of design implementation, even with the recent significant advances in metal prices, mine operators remain under pressure to minimize mining costs. To address these constraints, mining equipment of ever increasing size is being introduced. There are, however, some disadvantages to this trend in the area of slope design. For example, the large electric shovels are not well designed for scaling bench faces, nor are they cost effective in this mode. As a result, specialized equipment may be needed in the mining cycle to perform the clean-up duties, which in turn increases operating costs. Further, where the large equipment is used in minimum width pushbacks to reduce the instantaneous stripping ratio, the advance rates can be high, but at the same time the associated changes in operating procedures are often not conducive to the concurrent use of such measures as controlled blasting, careful scaling and drain hole installation that generally improve stability. The resulting conflicts which may arise between the interests of production and those of slope stability are often exacerbated by the fact that these stabilization techniques actually increase the operating costs on which the operations manager is frequently judged, even though there is an overall increase in profit. Meeting the objective of developing slope designs which are practicable , i.e., achievable in terms of every aspect of the operating constraints in the specific pit, requires interaction and compromise between the geotechnical engineer, mine planners and operating staff during the formulation of the design criteria. In the current environment, it is often no longer sufficient to present slope designs in deterministic terms to a mine planner who accepts them almost without question. Increasingly, the requirement is that they be proposed within the framework of risk levels, related both to safety and to economic outcomes, to a decision maker who may not be a technical expert in the mining field. In this context, the mine executives must have sufficient information and understanding to be able to establish acceptable levels of risk for the company and other stakeholders; in this process the slope designers must play a major role. These changing requirements for presentation of slope designs necessitate clear communication of the basis for the design, which may be very complex, so that the implications of the designs may be thoroughly understood by all concerned. To ensure clarity at this stage, the slope designer must not only quantify the uncertainty in the input parameters, including the geological model, but must also be able to communicate and defend the resulting design recommendations. Where particular designs may have high associated risks, simply because of the degree of uncertainty in the data, this must also be recognized and proposed methods of reducing the uncertainty included in the presentation. In summary, from a reviewer?s perspective slope designs must not only be technically sound, but must also address the broader context of the mining operation as a whole, taking into account such factors as safety aspects, the available equipment to implement the designs, and the acceptable risk levels for the company. In addition, the designs must be presented in a way that will allow the mine executives, who are ultimately responsible, and the operators, who implement the designs, to fully understand the basis and short-comings of the designs and the risks associated with deviation from any constraints defined by the designer. It goes without saying that there must also be a well-defined monitoring system to confirm stability and detect and manage any variations in the design model or unexpected instability.

The results of slow crushing tests in a stiff testing machine for both small and large step reductions of particle size are given. The energy consumption required to produce a given weight of minus 74 um material was determined when both single-crystal quartz and Witwatersrand reef were crushed. For comparison the two materials tested were also comminuted in a ball mill under optimum conditions. There are indications that slow crushing under stiff conditions is the most efficient method of breakage that can be devised. The comparison with ball milling results thus yields a value for the efficiency of ball milling of approximately 80 per cent. These results confirm that the best current estimates of milling efficiency, which are based on the free boundary surface energy of the material being milled, are probably too low by at least one order of magnitude.

The contribution made to the economy of South Africa by the-minerals industry is discussed according to four of its aspects. Firstly, the industry supports both students and lecturers in technical and academic institutions. This support covers virtually the whole range of courses available at the universities and technikons, although most is obviously devoted to the engineering and science faculties. Secondly, the industry makes a direct financial contribution to the State in that it contributes about40 per cent of the State's receipts from direct tax paid on incomes and 30 per cent of the contributions to the total State revenue. It provides employment for 28 per cent of the total active labour force, and contributes 24 per cent directly to the gross domestic product. Thirdly, the industry is responsible for over 65 per cent of the country's foreign earnings in spite of the significant rise in exports from the manufacturing sector. South African minerals are of crucial importance to the word, since the country has the world's largest reserves of seven minerals and features very prominently in many others. Finally, the industry makes an indirect contribution, referred to as the multiplier effect. This is the ripple effect on the economy made by a large injection of momey by which that money acquires an added effective value. A study made of the total production of the mining industry in 1978, for instance, showed this multiplier to havea value of 1,5. Thus, if this effect is included, the industry's contribution to the gross domestic product is 44,S per cent. Similarly, the industry is responsible for the creation of jobs both within itself and in other industries, which could amount to 100000 for the period 1981 to 1935.

An existing 1 800 m long pipeline, which carried waste mica slurry from kaolin processing, is to be recommissioned. The mica solids throughput is to be substantially increased from 5.2 t/h up to a maximum of9.53 t/h, but with a typical throughput of around 7.5 t/h. Because of this throughput increase, it was unclear whether the existing 80 mm diameter pipe would be adequate. In addition, the pipe route is to be extended by 250 m to 2 050m, and its elevation at discharge to settling lagoons increased from 66.2 m to 80 m. The pipeline hydraulics of waste mica slurry were investigated for the 80 mm diameter pipe using the Saskatchewan Research Council?s (SRC) Two-Layer Flow Model, for the maximum mica solids throughput of 9.53t/h. The pipe operating velocity was compared with the predicted deposit velocity for several mica concentrations, ranging from 20% to 50% by weight. Estimates were made of the total differential pressure across the proposed2 050 m long pipeline, as well as the power imparted to the slurry by the pump, and the specific energy consumption (SEC). Two pipe diameters were assumed: 80 mm when no mica wall deposit is present, and 70 mm when there is a 5mm mica wall deposit. This parameter has a significant effect on the determination of the appropriate pipe operating conditions. For the pipe operating velocity to remain adequately above the deposit velocity (and therefore for the heterogeneous flow pattern to prevail in either horizontal or inclined pipe), it was concluded that if the newly commissioned pipeline contains no mica wall deposit, the pipe should initially be operated at a mica concentration of between 20% and 25% by weight, probably with a target mica concentration of about 23%. If a transition from one equilibrium state to another occurs during the course of mining, energy transfer takes place in the rock mass, which is assumed to be an elastic continuum. The energy components are defined as follows: the work done by external and body forces, W; the increase in stored energy in the mass, Uc; the strain energy in the rock mined during the transition, Urn; the work done on mine support or backfill, Ws; and the released energy, Wr. The energy balance is defined as (W + Urn) - (Uc + Ws) = Wr> 0, where the first set of components in parentheses represents the sources of energy, while that of the second corresponds to the known modes of energy expenditure and the component on the right is the unaccounted-for energy surplus, which must be released and dissipated in some form. The inequality Wr ~ Urn> 0 applies. Expressions for the energy components are derived first for the general case and then for the 'slit' modal used to simulate tabular excavations. Through specific examples, the importance of the progressive nature of mining is emphasized. The size of the steps used to enlarge the excavations appears to play a significant role in the mode of energy transfer. This observation forms the basis of the second paper in this series of two papers.

Lime has been added to the iron ore slurry transported by the Samarco pipeline since its operation start-up in 1977.Initially, internal corrosion was the main concern therefore the reagent was used only for pH correction. Over the last ten years, though, transport of more complex slurries demanded a significantly higher dosage of lime to guarantee adequate rheology control. Several other reagents have been tested for the same purpose yet none has proven to be as effective regarding technical performance, environmental impact and cost. However, an alternative was sought so that the slurry rheology could still be controlled in case lime addition became impracticable. The objective of this paper is to present a technical solution for this matter, which takes into account environmental aspects. It consists of adding soda for pH correction and an organic coagulant as a rheology modifier. The latter is a quaternary ammonium salt which affected the slurry transport properties in the same manner as lime when tested in a laboratory. It showed no plug formation and allowed solid particles to settle, forming a loose sediment after rest. These results indicate a low probability of plug occurrence in the pipeline and the formation of a readily reslurryable sediment upon shutdown of the pumping system. Industrial tests should be performed in order to validate the laboratory results.

INFACON XI has no doubt earned the distinction as the first such Congress in India. This prestigious occasion could become a reality of a long cherished dream of the Indian Ferroalloy Producers, consumers and ex-porters. The International Committee of Ferro Alloys (ICFA), South Africa, the august body for organising INFACON, every three years, could be convinced by the Indian Ferro Alloy Producers? Association (IFAPA) to award INFACON (XI) to India. This Congresss, organized by IFAPA, has opened a window for the Ferroalloy Community of India, the up-coming Asian Tiger, to register their strength and weakness to the world forum with the principal objectives of evolving long and short-term optimum road-maps for development. It is to be reckoned that India is poised to be a steel giant by 2020 when it is envisaged that the steel production may reach a level of 120 million tons of which significant proportion has to be in the categories of alloy and special steels, requiring standard and high grade ferroalloys. Keeping the above objective in view, the theme of this Congress has been rightfully designed as ?Innovations in Ferro Alloy Industry.? This Congress has also earned a distinction of more than eighty papers, finally selected for inclusion in the Proceedings. More than 100 internationally and nationally reputed experts in the field of ferroalloys (technology and manufacturing practices as well as world scenario) have been approached for critical review of abstracts and selection for the proceedings. It needs to be mentioned without the cooperation received from ICFA the high standard of INFACON could not have been assured. The papers are suitably grouped under seventeen heads, starting from world situation to production and operation followed by present and future technologies and finally to modelling and simulation. It is a Herculean task to the Technical Committee to fit these papers in proper sequence. The Commit-tee members kept no stone unturned to ensure the cogency with the subject matters and at the same timekeeping the flexibility of interests of the participant, especially in the context of three parallel sessions. The Proceedings containing only refereed papers of high quality, will serve the entire gamut of ferroalloy industry and will also highlight the present status of concerned countries. The areas of attention to make the industries globally competitive and at the same time laying emphasis on the prevailing practices, will help the industry leaders to formulate an appropriate global approach. Following the break-through step, instilled by INFACON XI, the Proceedings will be available both in bound and in searchable electronic CD-ROM format. I, as the Chairman of the Technical Committee would like to express thanks and high appreciation to all the Committee members for their whole hearted efforts in all respects without which it would not have been possible to complete these proceedings in the scheduled time. Technical Committee desires to place on record their gratitude to Organising Committee for their synergic cooperation all through in successfully executing multifarious tasks, associated with such a grand international technical Congress.

As the grade of the gold (head grade) in the ore supplied to a reduction plants falls, the efficiency of recovery of the metal drops. This is not simply due to a fixed grade lost in the residue, since the residue grade is itself a function of the head grade. A multi-disciplinary approach was used in the construction of a model to represent the relationship between head grade and recovery efficiency. The model is a physicochemical one based on (i) the reaction characteristics of cyanidation, (ii) the milled-ore selection characteristics of gravity concentration, and (iii) the nearly log normal distribution of gold grades and particle sizes in ore reserves. The model was used to set sound target levels for recovery efficiency for a given head grade at a given plant, against which the performances of the plant equipment can be judged for control purposes.

Slimes-dam construction in the gold mines of the Anglo American Group by w. T. RUHMER. Pr.Eng.. B.Sc. Eng. (Met.) (Fellow) Current practices generally in accordance with the principles of design and operation of slimes dams within the Gold Mining Division of the Anglo American Corporation are described. Although many of the details given are either obvious or have been amply dealt with elsewhere, these have been included for the sake of completeness. The selection of suitable ground for the deposition of slimes, the initial design and construction of a slimes dam, and its consequent operation are presented in logical sequence. Emphasis is placed on the code of practice for the construction of slimes dams issued by the Chamber of Mines of South Africa, and draft regulations (Water Act of 1956) dealing with pollution. Operating costs are included, and possible future trends are discussed.

"The most commonly used high-chromium white cast iron (HCWCI) is the hypoeutectic white cast iron that contains 2–3.5 wt.% C and 10–30% Cr. This type of material relies on hard, brittle M7C3 carbides to impart good wear resistance. Due to its good wear resistance, this material has found application in the mining industry and cement industry. However, it has low fracture strength and this challenge led to research aimed at refining the microstructure. This was done by the addition of niobium in the range between 0.1 and 0.6 wt.%. In the as-cast condition, the addition of niobium was found to increase the fracture strength due to the finer eutectic microstructure. The hardness was also found to have increased slightly compared to the reference alloy with no niobium additions. Low fracture strength after heat treatment was observed in the Nb-added HCWCI, which is believed to have been caused by the precipitation of secondary carbides and the transformation of the matrix from austenite to martensitic. IntroductionFor the past few years Mintek has been involved in a project in which a number of alloys have been identified for grinding media applications. The high-chromium white cast iron (HCWCI) alloys were among the alloys researched for this application. The knowledge acquired from the grinding ball media research has now been extended to mill liners, which have traditionally been made of manganese-, chromium- and chrome-molybdenum steels. The replacement of worn mill liners costs the mining industry a significant amount of money and this has led to a need for continuous research to prolong the life of the liners. During milling operations, liner wear has an adverse effect on the capacity of the mill, the energy efficiency and milling efficiency and finally leads to relining, to replace worn liners."

SYNOPSIS This paper describes the process adopted for the recovery of gold from a dump originating from clean-up operations at Durban Roodepoort Deep Gold Mine. The gold-bearing dump material was refractory in nature, not being amenable to cyanidation because of the high level of carbonaceous material present. The laboratory tests on the material involved particle-size and chemical analyses, a mineralogical examination of the material, preliminary tests, and optimization of the process for the treatment of the dump material. The preliminary tests included tests on roasting, flotation, pre-leaching, adsorbent-in-leach, and blinding. Of these options, carbon-in-leach showed the greatest potential. The rate of gold dissolution, the rate of gold adsorption by the carbonaceous material, and the ratio of carbon to pulp were then investigated. It was determined that the ratio of carbon to pulp necessary to yield a reasonable gold recovery resulted in a carbon loading that was not high enough for economic elution and regeneration. A process incorporating washing of the carbon with cold acid between adsorption cycles was tested, and reasonable gold recoveries and carbon loadings were obtained. Durban Roodepoort Deep Gold Mine piloted the conceptualized process and determined that it was economically feasible. Two Browns tanks on site were modified, and an acid-wash tank was installed. The capital outlay for the plant was recovered within some 3 months.

It is commonly accepted that three types of aquifers exist in the Bushveld Complex: (a) alluvial aquifers in areas of river courses, (b) weathered bedrock aquifer formed by the in-situ weathering of the bedrocks, (c) fractured aquifers underlying the weathered aquifers controlled by the regional and local fracturing of the crystalline rocks. Hydrogeological studies conducted in the Critical Zone of the Bushveld Complex in the western limb show that the UG2 pyroxenite layer is of a particular interest and has a unique aquifer property. It yields much of the groundwater inflow into some mines and can be classified as the most important aquifer in the vicinity of the mining zone. The UG2 pyroxenite aquifer is restricted to the dipping UG2 pyroxenite unit. The unit weathers more intensely than the surrounding norites and anorthosites and is characterized by deeper weathering horizons (two to three times deeper than the surrounding rocks). For much of the UG2 mining area between depths of 35 ? 80 m, stoping of the UG2 takes place approximately 5 ? 7 m below the UG2 pyroxenite aquifer, and usually there is no groundwater inflow into the mine workings. However, unsealed deep exploration boreholes intersecting the UG2 pyroxenite and reaching underground mine workings, or mine roofbolts penetrating the weathered pyroxenite aquifer from underneath, can result in significant groundwater inflows into the underground workings. The reason as to why the UG2 pyroxenite weathers more than the norites and anorthosites has not been fully studied but is suspected to be due to the bedding planes of the unit and mineralogical composition of the particular pyroxenes forming the unit, which result in preferential physical and chemical weathering under atmospheric conditions. The weathered pyroxenes form sand-sized, rounded grains with improved effective porosity and permeability suitable for the storage and passage of groundwater. The orientation of the pyroxenite aquifer can easily be determined as it dips with the Bushveld layered strata. No-flow boundaries can be assumed on the hanging- and footwall of the pyroxenite aquifer and the flow rates can be estimated using 2-dimentional analytical equations. However, this must be confirmed with strong conceptual models since the existence of a fracture network connecting the pyroxenite aquifer with the overlying weathered and/or underling fractured aquifers can complicate the system, lowering the accuracy of analytical models and necessitating the utilization of numerical models.

Intermittent exposures to heat, and the retention of heat acclimatization by N. B. STRYDOM, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Illinois) (Fellow), R. KOK, M.Sc. (Potch.) (Visitor), P. L. jOOSTE, M.Sc. (Stell.) (Visitor) Twenty-one heat acclimatized subjects were assessed for the degree of acclimatization attained with respect to heart rate, rectal temperature, and sweat rate during a standard four-hour heat-stress test. Thereafter, they were put on light duties in cool environm ents for four weeks, except for four hours of exposure to heat every seventh day. Their state of heat acclimatization was again assessed two days after the final week's exposure. Although heart rates and body temperatures showed significant increases over the initial values, no differences were observed in sweat rates and, in general, the subjects were rated as still adequately acclimatized to heat.

"Coal fines produced during processing are difficult to dewater and result in a lower quality product and consequent lower value. A South African coal mine experiences severe difficulties with belt filter dewatering operations due to the presence of fines reporting from the thickener underflows. Plant 2 currently handles super-fine particles of size -34 µm and has low belt filter efficiency: excessive moisture retention lowers the product quality and strains downstream processing. It was necessary to determine an alternative method for dewatering these fines. Blending of fine material with coarser material was proposed as a solution. The effect of coal particle size and layering during ultrafines belt filter dewatering was evaluated using various blends of the fine Plant 2 material with coarser Plant 1 material. The best layering arrangement of the two materials and its optimum blend required to achieve reduced filter cake moisture content was determined in practise using a vacuum filter to simulate belt filtration. A blend of the two materials gave improved dewatering efficiency for the belt filters compared with that of the Plant 2 material alone. The best layering configuration was with Plant 2 material at the bottom and Plant 1 material on top. The optimum blend for industrial applications comprised 48% fines from Plant 2. IntroductionFines are produced during the processing of coal. It is estimated that 2 to 3% of run-ofmine coal reports to the ultrafine portion (-100 µm) (le Roux, 2005). The particle size of coal is inversely proportional to the amount of water adsorption, so smaller particles adsorb more moisture. Moisture removal requires either mechanical processes or thermal drying: mechanical processes are less expensive, but the fines still have high moisture retention. Discarding of fines leads to economic losses, so it is essential that they be dewatered so that they can then be sold as a product: fines need to be treated for both resource management and conservation reasons (Kenney, 1994). Removal of free surface moisture from ultrafine coal particles using a belt filter therefore remains a process that needs to be continuously improved. Ultrafine coal originating from a thickener underflow is known to be difficult to dewater owing to factors such as filter cloth blockage and moisture retention due to clogging. Mixing of finer and coarser materials has been proposed to deliver better dewatering efficiency and improved the quality of the recycled water (Kenney, 1994)."

The meteorological conditions in South Africa are not conducive to the effective dispersion of air pollutants. In the light of this, and because of the magnitude, concentration, and future growth potential of the metallurgical industry, control of air pollution is essential. Methods of abatement are discussed for each branch of the metallurgical Industry, as well as for open-cast mining and bulk ore storage. Some recommendations are made regarding potentially rewarding research and development.
