Nickel (Ni) plays a major role in the production of steel and other major alloys. There are two sources of Ni: laterite and sulphide ores. Global reserves of sulphide ores are being rapidly depleted, while there are enormous reserves of Ni laterite, much of it in Australia. As well as being present in huge amounts, Ni laterites have the advantage of containing cobalt (Co), a valuable mineral. Over the past decade, these factors have been driving the industry to explore the processing of Ni laterite. A route that has been used commercially in processing nickel laterite ore involves the thermal activation of the minerals by pre-reduction followed by ammoniacal leaching (Caron). Although this process has been effective in processing the goethite rich laterite minerals, the higher-grade serpentine-based minerals have been shown to be less susceptible to this process. This has been attributed to the formation of inert olivine phases. In this study, we examined the use of an alternative lixiviant, sulphuric acid, in leaching pre-reduced limonite and weathered saprolite nickel laterite ores. The specific aim of this study was to examine the sulphuric acid leaching of Ni and Co from pre-reduced laterite minerals, and to understand the role of mineral transformations in this metal dissolution. Synchrotron based X-ray diffraction was used to examine the transformation of goethite (FeOOH) to spinels and serpentine mineral ((Mg,Fe)3Si2O5(OH)4) to olivine. Reduction tests were carried out using CO and CO2 reducing gas mixtures and temperatures from 400 °C to 700 °C. The rate of formation and disappearance of specific Bragg peaks during reduction of specific minerals were used to derive an understanding of these solid-state reactions. Laboratory based reduction tests and leaching in sulphuric acid were used to validate the effect of these mineral transformations. The results suggest the versatility of sulphuric acid in leaching nickel from spinels and olivine, which was achieved at the expense of lower selectivity. Cobalt dissolution was found to be dependent on the nature of ferro-cobalt alloy formed during reduction.

"Until the advent of intensive cyanidation, gold gravity concentrates were generally treated by tabling. The table concentrates were smelted while table middlings and tailings were recycled to the milling circuit for further grinding and subsequent leaching in the CIP/CIL circuit. Gold recovery on production tables is relatively low, often only 30 percent, and rarely above 60 percent. Significant factors in tabling performance are; mineralogy and the operator’s experience and ability. Units have been developed by Gekko Systems to treat both batch and continuous gold concentrates. Unit sizes are determined by leach kinetics and the required residence time of the concentrate in the unit.Gekko commenced the commercialisation of intensive leaching of gravity gold concentrates in 1997 with the first commercial prototype of the InLine Leach Reactor (ILR). Over 20 units are now installed worldwide with half that number on the African continent. South African mines, South Deeps (Placer Dome WAJV) and Target (AvGold) have both installed InLine Leach Reactors. Ashanti Goldfields have placed the ILR on their standard equipment list and have six operating units with a seventh on order. AngloGold installed one of the first ILR production units at Morila in Mali.Gekko Systems successfully installed an ILR1000 Batch unit at the Antapite Mine in Peru in December 2002. The unit was installed to treat gravity concentrates and to replace a shaking table. Following installation, gravity gold recovery increased from 15% to 40% of total gold. The unit was operational from start up and the first gravity batch treated achieved 98% gold recovery. The gravity concentrates also have a high silver content and 95% recoveries on silver were also achieved.Preliminary testwork identified that the concentrates required additional oxygen to achieve peak performance. As a result of optimisation work in the laboratory, leach kinetics in the ILR have been excellent with only 6 hours residence required to achieve maximum gold extraction."

"The depletion of the high-grade chromite ores and the inefficiency of the gravimetric methods to process fine particles has shifted the industrial and research interest from gravimetric separation methods to flotation. However, the response of the minerals to various flotation schemes is not clearly established. In this work, the physicochemical behavior of chromite and olivine is studied using a fatty acid collector.The minerals used were from Vourino area (Kozani, Northern Greece). Macroscopically pure samples of chromite and olivine were selected by hand picking, crushed and subsequently ground to the required size. Each sample was then submitted to panning and magnetic separation for the removal of impurities. The mineralogical and chemical analysis of the purified samples revealed the following: a) The purity of chromite was 95% while the minor constituent was mainly magnetite. Its chemical analysis was: 12.50% Fetot, 2.50% SiO2, 54,54% Cr2O3, 9.31% Al2O3, 0.47% CaO, 13.10% MgO. These analyses show that Cr3+ has been substituted by Fe3+ and Al3+ as well as Fe2+ has been significantly substituted by Mg2+. b) Forsterite is the main constituent of olivine either as pure forsterite (Mg2SiO4), which is the prevailing form, or as iron-forsterite [(Mg,Fe)2SiO4] in less amount. Chrysotile, which belongs to the serpentine group, was also detected at a percentage of 10-15%. The chemical analysis of olivine was: 36.90% SiO2, 0,53% Cr2O3, 7,43% Fe2O3, 0.72% Al2O3, 0.91% CaO, 47.00% MgO, 6.02% LOI.The electrokinetic behavior of the minerals was studied in a electrophoretic mass transport equipment Model 1202 of Micromeritics. The reagents used were sodium hexa-metaphosphate of commercial grade and sodium oleate."

In High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR), the material grinding takes place between the fixed and floating rollers. In this regard, the rollers start to wear over a period of time, which is impacted by for e.g.: ore characteristics, operating pressure, feed material size and non-uniform feed presentation across the roller width. HPGR operational experiences have shown that the rollers do not wear at the same rate. This differential wear rate over time leads to differences in the tangential speeds of the rollers, causing an uneven gap between the fixed and floating rollers in relation to the material. This unwanted but extremely common situation results in a less effective grinding process due to the fact that the slip between rollers is not optimal. As the rollers wear profile increases, the roller with smaller diameter starts to wear further, deteriorating the comminution efficiency up to a point where operators have to stop the HPGR to replace the rollers. Since the wear rate of the rollers is not equal, the replacement of the same cannot be properly planned so that their life-time are fully utilized. In this paper, a dynamic load share control with the use of ABB’s variable speed drive system is proposed, which provides the possibility to the HPGR operator to impact the roller wear in such a way that it equalizes the wear rate to a certain extent and extends the roller life time. Called RollXtend™, this solution includes a load share factor which can be parameterized based on the wear measurement performed manually during maintenance procedure. Additionally, this paper describes an automated load sharing concept based on a non-invasive wear measurement method. The partial results of the technology trial in a copper/gold mine are presented, which aimed at detecting stud damage and estimating the real rollers profile throughout their life time. The final objective of the pilot project was reduce the amount of planned and unplanned downtimes of the HPGR by increasing the rollers life time and avoiding catastrophic stud damages.

"It is well known that froth phase has a controlling influence on the overall flotation performance. Froth recovery is expected to be affected by froth transportation behaviour. The latter has been represented by different volume balance and energy balance based models. In froth transportation models based on a volume balance, the froth phase is divided into different zones. The total froth residence time is the sum of the time spent in each zone and is dependent on the cell geometry, bubble burst rate and the position that bubbles enter into the froth phase. Alternatively, the froth transportation model based on an energy balance treats the froth phase as a block. In this model, froth height above the concentrate lip is being predicted by minimising the energy of the system which is dependent on the froth geometry, froth stability and froth rheology. The froth height can be used to calculate the froth efficiency of delivering mineralized bubbles from the pulp to the concentrate lip. This paper critically analyses the current models of froth transportation in flotation, and examines the limitations of these models. The importance of froth rheology, which is the resistance to the froth flow towards the discharging weir, in determining froth transportation, is also highlighted."

"Battery grade Mn ore is not found in India except in Dongri-Buzurg Mine, Dist. Bhandara, Maharashtra. The mine located in central India is operated by a premier company viz. Manganese Ore India Ltd., under Central Government Public Sector Undertaking. The company is not selling the product as battery grade material but instead primarily catering to the needs of the iron and steel industry in the country. However, a part of the ore is being used in-house for the production of electrolytic manganese-dioxide in their EMD plant, which is located near the mine.The production of lumpy ore for steel industries generated through multi-stage crushing and screening has resulted in accumulation of about 50,000 tonnes of low grade fines over the year, which contain low of Mn values. Further, the generation of fines is still on going process due to the production of lumpy ores. These fines are stacked in the form of unconsolidated dumps, which create environmental problems like air and water pollution and siltation in the adjoining fields. Besides they are occupying large space, which is scarce in this mining area. The Indian Bureau of Mines under one of its statutory functions has suggested the company to explore the possibility of recovery of additional values under conservation and environmental aspects. Hence the company has sponsored a bulk sample for beneficiation studies in the Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory and Pilot Plant of Indian Bureau of Mines at Nagpur, India. The main manganese minerals present in these mine rejects have been identified as pyrolusite and psilomelane. The purpose of this study was to explore the possibility of evolving a suitable beneficiation flowsheet to obtain manganese concentrates assaying over 72% MnO2 to be used as raw material for the manufacturing of dry cell batteries."

The manganese concentrate thus produced assayed 70.2% MnO2 with MnO2 recovery of 78% and weight per cent yield of 63.5. This natural concentrate could be mixed with the electrolytic manganese dioxide produced by the company and this blend can thus be used as a raw material for the manufacture of dry cell batteries by the end users. The paper deals with the details of test work carried out in evolving the process flowsheet."

Enhanced granulation of UASB granules was tested on pilot scale with two different test reactors (about 5 litres capacity each). Sludge from a local sewage works was used, with peach cannery effluent as carbon source. Cyclic motion of the reactor contents, and a daily replenishment of feed material create the necessary stress conditions for enhanced growth. Sizable granules, bigger than 0.5 mm, were produced within 20 days. Of the two reactors tested, the reactor equipped with a horizontal agitation shaft proved more effective.

"An environmentally clean and virtually waste-less technology for treatment of domestic and industrial solid waste (HGIW) including other toxic chloride-containing materials has been developed and proven on a full scale by the Gintsvetmet Institute in cooperation with some other Russian organizations.The essence of the process is that the HGIW are decomposing in the liquid base in air-bed slag melted layer under the temperature of 1350-1400°C.HGIW is considered as fuel heat-producing energy of 1500-1800 kCal/kg with 51,7%.Processing of municipal and industrial solid waste in molten slag is carried out autogenously without additional fuel, the blowing is enriched by oxygen up to 50-70%.The complex makes it possible to treat the furnace charge without preliminary drying and sorting with big differences in chemical and morphological composition due to the versatile firing chamber.The proposed process resolves the acute and globally significant problem of dioxin formation.The purpose of the proposed technology is to ensure such destruction of the structural lattice that would guarantee irreversible transformation of the resultant substances to prevent formation of dioxins. It was established the required preconditions to achieve this purpose."

Already starting, new drivers will dictate how future mineral processing plants will be designed and operated. These drivers include requirements in water and energy conservation because of rising costs, larger demand for mineral and metal products as the result of a rising population, and the increasing demand from the population in general to have influence over what type of operations will be developed where. Mineral operating facilities will require processing of lower grades. To do this economically, design engineers will be influenced to introduce newer concepts, or return to older processing concepts once deemed not desirable. Our understanding of the fundamentals must be improved, and this may come from better measurement techniques and more process piloting, and will go in hand with a reduction of waste generated during the process, improved separation of minerals or product size. Process engineers will also be required to not just design according to the established 3D methodology for efficient plant installation. Already in other industries the design concept encompasses the entire range from source to product. Not only that, the design will be affected by public influence that must be illustrated prior to project execution. On the one hand, the added dimension in design may slow a project; on the other hand it may result in a blessing, and in a higher responsibility for engineering.

The demand for minerals has never been higher. Moreover, the rate at which this demand is growing is unprecedented, and expansions and new mines will be required to fulfill these growing needs. This, in turn requires a skilled engineering workforce that can develop and operate minerals extraction processes to utilise effectively more complex ores. The International Mineral Processing Council (IMPC) has established a Commission on Mineral Processing Education to consider the global challenge of ensuring an adequate supply of well-trained mineral processing engineers. The Commission has, for the past four years, been collecting international information of the recent mineral process engineering supply position and with a view into the near future. The data collected by the international Commission members are as follows: ? Undergraduate student numbers in minerals engineering ? A breakdown of their male/female ratio ? The fraction of the students from each course that enter the minerals industry ? Teaching staff numbers and age profile This data has been collated and analysed, and the findings are presented. It is clear from the analysis that the supply situation is very different in different regions of the world, and that great opportunities exist for targeted recruitment into the industry to meet the future talent demand. Further, an attempt at correlate the supply of minerals engineers based on the local mineral production rate is shown, which shows that there are clear outliers.

The use of continuous discharge centrifugal concentrators introduced in the early 1990’s for recovery of gold associated with sulphides has introduced a novel application niche for gravity concentration which could not be realized with the low mass yield batch and semi-continuous concentrators. A typical application is scavenging gold associated with sulphides from flotation tails which has potential to increase productivity by reducing gold loss to tailings and lower grinding cost by using a coarser grind. However, the full potential of this technology has not been fully exploited partly due to the lack of reliable small sample procedures to demonstrate applicability. This paper introduces a bench-scale procedure developed to characterize the Knelson Continuous Variable Discharge concentrator (CVD) for scavenging gold from flotation tails. The procedure code named gravity release analysis was derived from standard flotation release analysis. It is a modification of the gravity recoverable gold and gravity amenability test in order to best simulate continuous centrifugal concentration. Based on this iterative procedure, a gravity release index similar to the flotation rate constant, for measuring individual mineral gravity susceptibility for an ore is introduced which can be a useful quantitative measure to both predict application of centrifugal concentration and for plant design. The gravity release analysis procedure was tested on a polymetallic flotation plant tailing at Myra Falls, BC, Canada and results show that it can predict CVD performance. The gravity release index for gold was observed to decrease with each successive cleaner stage showing that the initial stages recover liberated gold whilst successive runs recover gold associated with sulphides and or gangue. The difference in magnitude of the gravity release index for different mineral species shows the species separable by centrifugal concentration.

Fluidised bed drying is currently receiving much attention as a dewatering option during the beneficiation of fine (defined here as between 1 mm and 2 mm particles) coal. Apart from concerns about safety and combustion, the operating costs can be high if very high gas or air temperatures are used. The aim of this study was to investigate the removal of moisture from fine coal by using air at a lower temperature (25 - 55°C) within a controlled environment by lowering of the relative humidity of the air. It was firstly proven that fluidization has a major advantage over non-fluidized beds, with regards to drying rate and final moisture content. Hereafter several parameters that influence the dewatering rate and final moisture content were tested, from which it was concluded that the relative humidity of air acts as the largest driving force for dewatering. Parameters tested included relative humidity, temperature and coal composition. Energy balances showed a positive nett energy increase in the dried coal during combustion when related to the energy input during drying. In comparison with thermal drying technologies, fluidized bed drying was proven to be less energy intensive. It was therefore shown that this is a viable technology for the dewatering of fine coal.

The purpose of the research is the development of a complex of solutions for the maximum extraction of non-ferrous and precious metals from persistent mineral raw materials by heap bioleaching from spent heap leaching (HL) stacks. Methodical recommendations for assessing the suitability of primary and technogenic refractory mineral raw materials for heap bioleaching are developed. Active associations of microorganisms have been created for the conversion from various types of ores to the solution of S, Fe, As, Sb, Cu, Zn, Mn, Ni, Mg, P and other elements, as well as methodologies for their storage, immobilization and preparation of bioreagents in industrial conditions. On a pilot scale, tests were carried out on samples weighing 15-17 thousand tons of refractory gold-sulphide ores (more than 50% of gold is associated with sphalerite), gold-quartz ores with colloidal gold (74% associated with quartz and pyrite) and gold-silver ores with elevated copper and zinc content (1.5 and 3,5%, respectively), as well as man-caused material lying for 4-5 years of spent quarry material of oxidized gold-silver ores. In the pilot-industrial tests of heap bioleaching of gold-sulfide ores, gold recovery of 84-85% and silver was achieved to 89-90%, the possibility of obtaining high-yield solutions of copper and zinc, suitable for hydrometallurgical processing, from gold-silver ores, and the possibility of obtaining waste with a dump content of valuable components, suitable for deep disposal in the construction industry. When comparing two technologies for processing refractory ores after biooxidation under HL conditions, when 1000 tons of ore processed by the bioreagent were re-milled from a size of 40 mm to 0.1 mm and cyanated under the conditions of the factory process, the same results were obtained for gold recovery (85%) and silver (90%), as with the heap version. The establishment of grind size that optimally liberates the valuable mineral for efficient down-stream processing is of great importance for most mineral processing operations. Reasonably accurate comminution models as well as models of downstream separation processes may be found in the literature but their use in optimizing grind size is limited without an associated liberation model. In this work, an attempt has been made to address the above shortcoming by demonstrating how the effective parameters of the downstream flotation process may be predicted from the liberation characteristics based on the ore texture data for a disseminated nickel ore. In this regard, the liberation model based on linear intercept distributions of mineral and gangue proposed by King (1979) and its application to predict the flotation performance of an industrial plant demonstrated by Schaap (1979) may be considered useful contributions. However, while the model proposed by Schaap is simplistic enough, it is based on several assumptions due to the non-availability of intercept length measurements on the parent rock, in particular, on the extent of mineral exposure on the surface of comminuted particles. In this work, the linear mineral and gangue intercepts on polished specimens of a binary ore, comprising darker pentlandite as the valuable mineral and lighter barren host rock were measured using an image analyser. The resulting intercept distributions followed negative exponential distributions. Using the mean sizes of mineral and gangue intercepts, the proportion of liberated, compo-site and mineral occluded particles of a given size, the extent of mineral exposure on the surface of particles and their mean mineral contents were calculated using principles of renewal theory. The rock was then crushed and ground and different size fractions were floated. It has been shown that the parameters of observed recovery data based on 1st order kinetics such as the associated rate constant and ultimate recovery agrees well with those predicted from the quantities calculated above. This work has important practical implications since it can indicate variations in flotation performance arising from changes in mineralization within a large ore body.

"Some twenty years ago, during construction of flotation in the “Veliki Krivelj” copper and non-metallic mine Bor, a computer supported system for remote controle of technological process was installed. Nowadays, the major part of equipment of this system is worn-out and technically old-fashioned. Having this in mind a decision was made to design a new computer supported information-management system for Flotation. The paper presents a concept and features of project solutions.For the requirements of remote monitoring and management of technological process in Flotation of “Veliki Krivelj”, Copper and non-metallic minerals mine in Bor, Yugoslavia (hereinafter: CNM Bor), a measuring-regulation equipment was implemented and a computer control system, adjusted for that time, built some twenty years ago. The major part of this equipment is today worn out and technically out of date.Having estimated that production and business activities could hardly be more efficient, operative and successful on one hand, and available mineral and other resources rationally exploited, the CNM Bor made a decision in 1999 to improve information-management function of Flotation. The idea was that the set task be realized through development and introduction into practice up-to-date integrated and computer-supported production-business information-management system. The first logic step in completion of this task refers to engineering-creative determination of information management system (hereinafter: IMS), namely to project elaboration.When considering the real system from technical, technological, organization, monitoring-management, logistic and business aspects, the Project on IMS of Flotation, should provide a rational, modern and, for the real system conditions, complete solution. The Project solutions should be based on the most recent knowledge from computer and measuring-regulation technics as well as from CIM concept (Computer Integrated Manufacturing)."

"A hydrocyclone with two vortex finders, named the three-product cyclone (3PC), has been successfully tested in the Platinum industry for dealing with the dense Chromite found in UG2 ores. This dense component preferentially reports to the cyclone underflow, resulting in an over-ground fine Chromite component in the final product. The dense media effect caused by a high concentration of this in the cyclone feed produces a coarsening of the cyclone overflow, which results in loss of recovery through over-size silica in the PGM carrying component material in the float feed. The fine barren particles of Chromite that report to the overflow are recovered through entrainment in the flotation process, resulting in detrimental contamination of the slag produced from the concentrate.Data from many industrial scale tests of the 3PC have shown that three distinct products are obtained when the inner vortex finder length (LIVF) is extended to the region either above (normal classification) or below (reverse classification) the transition zone (a region were the inner and outer overflow streams are identical). Due to wear problems arising from extending the IVF deep into the cone of the cyclone, it is advantageous to use the shorter IVF. Only the normal classification results are reported here, but similar outcomes (to opposite overflow streams) were obtained for the reverse classification. The results showed notable differences in the percentage split of the plus 100µm material in the product streams, confirming that three distinct products are discharged from the 3PC. About 12% of the plus 100µm material in the feed reports to the middlings stream, 1% reports to the final product, and the remainder to the cyclone underflow.Results of silica and chrome splits to the three distinct products namely, the inner overflow (INO), the outer overflow (OUO) and the underflow (U/F) are given in Table 1. These show that the 3PC can be used to recover coarse silica through screening the middlings product - which has a high silica content. When the vortex finder ratios (ratio’s of cross-sectional areas) are carefully selected, the split of plus 100µm silica to the middlings product ranged from 2.9 to 9.6%. Large amounts of oversize silica and chrome report to cyclone underflow, explaining their high percentages in the underflow stream."

The application of new collectors is considered to improve the beneficiation of Polish sedimentary complex copper ores from the Legnica-Glogow Copper Basin (SW Poland), the upgradeability of which becomes more difficult because of ores grade declining. One group of potential collectors is represented by nonpolar reagents. According to the available literature data, only selected sulfides float in the presence of the nonpolar liquids. The paper presents laboratory scale flotation results for the main sulfide minerals occurring in the Polish copper ores applying either thiol (potassium ethyl xanthate) or nonpolar (aqueous emulsion of n-dodecane) collectors. The investigated feed contained 1.91 % Cu in the form of sulfide minerals such as bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and covellite. Other sulfide minerals including galena, pyrite and sphalerite were also present in the samples. Several flotation tests with various doses of each collector were conducted. Mineralogical analyses of flotation products were carried out and the results compared. A comparison of the results indicated that all sulfide minerals floated well with high recoveries ranging from 91 % to 99 % in the presence of the thiol collector. The use of the nonpolar collector provided results in flotation of sulfide minerals with different terminal recoveries from 61 % for chalcopyrite to 100 % for sphalerite. The most significant differences in flotation in the presence of both types of collector under various conditions of upgrading were observed for chalcocite, chalcopyrite and covellite. Similar flotation results were observed for sphalerite and galena for both collectors. "In most underground mining processes the entire extracted ore is transported from underground workings to surface processing plants for separation of valuable minerals and gangue material. Most of the transported material consists of barren rock with negligible metal content, especially for low grade deposits, such as in the copper or gold metal ore mining. Increasing mining depths result in higher costs for transportation and hoisting. Therefore, rejecting waste rock as soon as possible from the material stream gains importance. The concept of resource to product integration in the form of earliest waste rejection in combination with subsequent backfilling follows the philosophy of ‚leaving waste underground?. Implementing mineral processing underground can lead to less required mass movement to surface, hence reducing transportation and hoisting costs. At the same time, rejected waste can be used as backfill to increase extraction rates by reducing pillar volumes. In the mill, a stable high grade feed leads to decreased specific operating and investment costs as well as increased productivity and recovery. These effects as a whole have a large potential to reduce cut-off grades so that resources can be turned into reserves. Within the I²Mine (Innovative Technologies and Concepts for the Intelligent Deep Mine of the Future) project of the European FP7, investigations are carried out by the Unit of Mineral Processing of RWTH Aachen University, the Institute of Mining Engineering I and TOMRA Sorting Solutions | Mining. One aim of the cooperation is to develop new concepts for a comprehensive integration of near-to-face processing in combination with backfill into the overall underground mining process. Effects on up-, down- and side-streams are investigated to prove the potential of resource to product integration in comparison to common underground mining systems and processing methods."

There was a large reserve of bauxite resources in China. And these resources were mainly the dias-pore-bauxite and contained plenty of aluminosilicate including kaolinite, illite and pyrophyllite. Reducing the contents of aluminosilicate would be significant to the using of Chinese bauxite resources. In this paper, from the single mineral flotation experiments, the surface properties and flotation beha-viours of aluminosilicate including kaolinite, illite and pyrophyllite, using dodecyl amine (DDA), N, N-dimethyl-dodecyl amine (DRN12) and N-dodecyl-1, 3-propane diamine (DN12) as collectors, had been investigated. The flotation results shown that the flotation behaviours of aluminosilicate had been influenced greatly by three amine collectors; and the effect was in the order of DN12>DRN12 >DDA. On the basis of FT-IR spectra and zeta potential measurements, the ionization of surface hydroxyl, as well as isomorphic exchange of surface ions, accounted for the mineral surface charges. And the mechanisms of interactions between the mineral surface and collectors mainly included two modes: electrostatic adsorption and hydrogen bonding; for the DDA and DRN>DDA. 12, the mechanism was mainly electrostatic adsorption; and for the DN12, the mechanisms of electrostatic adsorption and hydrogen bonding both existed. Results of quantum chemistry research shown that the collecting ability of amine collectors was greatly influenced by the electro-negativity of N in the amine molecules; and The |E(EHOMO| and ?E (HOMO-ELUMO) of N atom in DRN12 and DN12 were lower than that of DDA, and the positive charge of ?N group in DRN12 and DA12 were higher than that of DDA. All these calculation results could explain the collecting power of DN12>DRN12>DDA.
