"Coal-water mixtures (CWM) of concentrated fine coal may be transported in pipelines but this is influenced by both CWM rheology and stability. Here, a low viscosity is required to reduce power requirements, as well as good stability for transport and storage. The objectives of this study are to investigate the importance of surface charge, solids concentration and dispersant addition on the rheology and stability of a fine Witbank coal-water mixture (<75 m). Zeta potential, rheology and stability were measured with a Malvern Zetasizer, a AR1500EA rheometer and a static rod penetration test, respectively. Sendep 30D, Sendep 30F and Norilose 8058, all supplied by Senmin International, were used as dispersants, at dosages of between 0.1 to 0.5% dry coal (w/w). Solids concentration was varied from 10 to 58% (w/w). The zeta potential was found to be positive at low pH and decreased sharply with increasing pH to a minimum of -50 mV at pH 10. The zeta potential decreased with increasing dispersant concentration for all dispersants. The lowest zeta potential of -63 mV was obtained for Norilose 8058 at a dosage of 0.3%. CWM rheology was Newtonian at lower solids concentrations but became non-Newtonian at solids concentrations over 40% (w/w), with an initial yield stress and pseudo plastic behavior. The yield stress decreased sharply with increasing dispersant concentration for all dispersants. The lowest yield stress was obtained for Norilose 8058. The addition of dispersants resulted in significant improvements in stability. A penetration ratio of over 70% was obtained for Norilose 8058 after 10 days. In summary, the addition of dispersants resulted in a decrease in the zeta potential which increased the electrostatic repulsive forces between particles, thus improving both CWM rheology and static stability.INTRODUCTION Coal Water Mixtures South Africa’s energy economy depends heavily on coal. It accounts for about 70% of primary energy consumption, 93% of electricity generation and 30% of liquid petroleum fuels (Eberhard, 2011). The transportation of coal to export markets and power generation stations is a problem in the South African coal industry due to ageing and inefficient rail infrastructure. This problem is intensified by the long distance of coal haulage, delays in the time required to load and unload wagons, and environmental challenges related to air pollution and water contamination. Fine coal may be transported more efficiently and economically in a pipeline as a highly concentrated coal water mixture (CWM). Typically a fine coal CWM will contain 60-75% coal, 25-40% water and nearly 1% of dispersing additives (Atesok et al., 2005; Dincer et al., 2003). However, the transport of CWMs in pipelines is strongly influenced by both CWM rheology and stability. Here, a low viscosity is required to reduce power requirements, as well as good stability for transport and storage. These quantities are affected by the coal composition/mineralogy, solids concentration, particle size and size distribution, particle shape, inter-particle forces and dispersant type and dosage (Laskowski, 2001)."

In this apparatus closed sized particles are placed in a container and then fluidized by passing water through the load of particles. Water flow is adjusted to deposit particles in one or more layers depending on the specific gravity of each of the particles, after which the deposited particles are separated in portions of different specific gravity. The obtained portions represent different ore content of the closed sized fraction. The process is repeated for all other size fractions to generate washability curve of the feed. Three different types of iron ores and one coal sample are tested in this equipment. The theoretical yield-grade curve generated for iron ore feed is unique in absence of any such practice for ore minerals. Similar curve is generated for coal and it is compared with washability curve, an existing practice followed worldwide. This comparison validates the performance of the process and the equipment.

"The ball mill performance relies on impact grinding, but it has disadvantage of the lower efficiency when the ore is finer; while tower mill relies on friction shear affection with high energy efficiency, which is considered to be one of the most potential fine grinding equipment all over the world. Generated by the agitator device, the internal media movement is complex because of comprehensive interaction of screw mechanism, cylinder structure and adjacent media, which is the key factor of grinding process. But the kinematics parameter ,such as speed, acceleration, stress and so on, of media motion cannot be obtained through traditional laboratory test method, which restricts deeply research on finer grinding mechanism seriously. In order to solve this problem, characteristics of media motion in tower mill is studied via the discrete element method. Coefficient of restitution, coefficient of static friction and coefficient of rolling friction are the key parameters affecting the media movement, which were calibrated by stacking angle test firstly. A 3kW tower mill is established as the model for simulation. At last one appropriate simulation strategy is selected to increase simulation accuracy. The characteristic of media motion is obtained based on the computer simulation analysis: macroscopically, the media in tower mill is a dynamic equilibrium state generally accompanied by spiral up and down movement all the time. And it has been found that the maximum lifting height is proportional to the rotation speed of agitator shaft. The velocity of media at the edge of screw stirrer is biggest, while the velocity of media near the cylinder wall is smaller, so the grinding performance between the two ring areas is the best. The rotational speed of agitator shaft and media filling ratio are the two most important operating parameters in tower mill. The impact curve of two main operating parameters on the grinding intensity and energy efficiency are obtained. All these can provide theoretical basis and technical support for operating parameters setting of industrial tower mill."

The Arctic is a region of special economic, geopolitical, research, socio-ethnic, and defense interests of both Russia and other countries of the Arctic zone. Introduction of innovation technologies at ore-processing factories is a direct responsibility of the state and this problem should be solved on the basis of coordination of interests of different stakeholders. The task of elaboration of scientific principles of rational state regulation in the North is very topical. Innovations require considerable investments first of all from private capital. However as an investment object innovations are not attractive for investors as they require large expenditures for long-term projects, and they are connected to high risks because market incentives form striving to get quick profits of private companies and result in a certain behaviour strategy while innovations need ?long money?. Under such conditions without state regulation of investment and innovation activities development of the mining sector in the Arctic practically has no prospects. At innovation development of mining enterprises economic growth is provided at the expense of active state innovation activities. The elaborated strategy of ore-processing enterprises should correspond to the modern paradigm of the ore-processing industry development which is not only for extraction of minerals but also for multi-profile structure having comprehensive use of the resources on the rational basis intended for rational complex utilization of mineral resources of the AZR which by the definition includes maximally full use of the whole aggregate of resources on the economically rational basis with obligatory environmental with resource reproductive and socio-economic functions and deterrents. The main principle of creation of innovation technologies is to obtain more products of higher quality with minimal costs. This allows increasing ?productivity of the resources? several times. This principle makes increasing productivity of the resources the most important and in this case efficiency of use of the resources brings extra profits at the expense of lack of new costs such as payment for protection and utilization of wastes. According to the economic theory only ratio between demand and supply is able to fix optimal proportions in economy and to give necessary signals for investment activities of mining enterprises. In this context market for minerals and increase of mineral resources productivity do not create incentives for investment activities without which neither sustainable economic growth nor solution of macroeconomic tasks are possible. Nevertheless countries should not reject this idea in spite of economic efficiency of the enterprises. Extraction degree of useful components and especially oil in the Arctic zone is one of the lowest in the world. This can lead to crisis of oil industry and other mining sectors. The reason for that is lack of a state policy of realization of innovation technologies in the mining sector in the Arctic.

"The article presents the materials about the appropriateness of the use of rental indices to assess the effectiveness of the use of deposits of rare earth elements (REE). The authors suggest from the standpoint of rent payments to rate for the owner the possibility of using the anticipated rental income as the indicator for the analysis of preferences and economic significance of enrichment of extracted raw materials in the emerging field of rare earth metals (REE). Usually from ore mined at the fields, for flotation technology to produce concentrates with collective REE, then they are subjected to chemical-metallurgical processing of the received products are divided into pure oxides, chemical compounds or isolated from them pure metals and alloys. This commercial product is shipped to the buyer. REE were a non-renewable natural resources, so the calculations for determining differential and specific rent showed that during the development of the technologies of mineral processing of a specific field it is necessary to consider what the expected rental income depends on the magnitude of differential rent is related to the volume of production of REE for the whole planned period of exploitation of natural resources. This income is determined by the amount of stock field. For long-term exploitation of the deposit is observed in almost direct proportional dependence between the annual differential rent and the rental income. The decrease in rents in the long run is determined by the change in the composition of ores included in the extracted raw materials and the balance between light and heavy REE. The largest 70% reduction of the rent projected for ""cerium"" fields, while for ""yttrium"" these losses are considerably smaller. Tomtor, Chuktukon and Katuginskoye Russian deposits are characterized by a level of rent that is comparable to the mastered foreign sources of REE. Thus, the enrichment of minerals with REM in the domestic deposits is quite competitive at the world level. INTRODUCTION Deposits of rare earth metals (REE) are non-renewable resources that should be developed and used so that it would be possible to provide a reduction due to payment of appropriate resources for future generations. This compensation, due to the reduction of natural resources, can be carried out both in natural and in economic terms (1). When analyzing economic compensation options, particular attention should be paid to rental income in assessing the attractiveness of using different REE deposits. It is known that absolute and differential rents are summands when calculating the value of natural rents. The value of the absolute natural rent is proportional to the unit price of the product obtained from mineral raw materials and sold on the commodity market. Limitations, as well as the use in production processes and business, contribute to the gradual reduction of natural resources, which increases their consumer value and affects the price of commodity products from primary raw materials."

Around 90% of the chromite resources of India are concentrated in the Boula-Nuasahi Sukinda belt of Orissa state. In order to conserve these valuable ore resources strategically, several companies established chrome ore beneficiation plants in this region. The general beneficiation process in these plants consists of gravity unit operations such as Floatex density separator, spiral, wet shaking table etc. Most of these gravity circuits suffer huge losses of valuable minerals in the tailing. Any attempt towards decreasing these losses would not only increase the limited reserves in India but also make the economics of the operations more attractive. Apart from the liberation phenomena, in many of the operating plants considerable quantity of values are lost in the tailings, due to inconsistent feed quality, inappropriate selection of operating and design parameters. Mineral engineers in this regard have to play a proactive and continuous role to improve the performance of all separating units by modifying even small changes based on tests conducted in laboratory under controlled conditions followed by attempts to make necessary changes in the plant. For such improvements, accurate data collection and proper data interpretation followed by making necessary change which is implementable in an operating plant play a very critical role in performance of the circuit. Databank collected over a period of time under various conditions would also help in overcoming the future problems related to either variation in the feed characteristics or specific demand by metallurgical industries. The above concept was adopted in one of the operating chromite beneficiation plant at Sukinda. The approach adopted and practical problems encountered during the study were reported in this paper. The result of trial campaign has shown that, an overall product assaying 30.2% Cr2O3 from the feed (18% Cr2O3 ) can be produced to in single stage. "This paper examines the grinding and wear processes in drum mills. A summary of the industry’s long-term experience with the proposed linings is presented. A method is proposed for assessing the efficiency of the grinding energy distribution between the successive stages. A case study is presented of grinding energy redistribution at Talnakh Concentrator by replacing spiral classifiers with a drum-type hydraulic screen. The problems of the kinetics of grinding processes in ball mills and semi-autogenous (SAG) mills are examined. It is demonstrated that in ball mills the feed particles are disintegrated by triaxial compression in the mill zones where discrete slippage of the charge occurs at major force interactions between the layers. Mechanism underlying increases in the specific energy consumption in grinding circuits based on SAG mills is shown.The problem of improving the throughput and reducing the specific energy consumption in mineral feed grinding is highly relevant because of the significant energy intensity. Up to 80% of the consumed energy is used to disintegrate ore fed into the drum mill. At all development stages of the drum mill grinding theory, the researchers have paid a great deal of attention to studying the patterns of the charge motion and the kinetics of the feed particles disintegration processes. In [1], it was shown that, due to the slippage between the charge layers being lifted, drum mills at concentrator plants operate in a mixed cascade and waterfall mode. A feature of the mixed mode is the toe zone, where the charge contacts the lining and the transition to a circular path takes place. Studies of the charge motion in the toe zone made it possible to develop a method for designing cross-sectional profiles of lining plates [2] for ball mill drums. The method is based on the principle of interaction between the balls and the lining, where the non-working rear surfaces follow the relative motion path of the balls before impacting the lining, while the working surfaces are orthogonal to the rear ones. Lining with the proposed profile provides contact with the charge and slippage-free transition to a circular path. This ensures an longer service life of the lining, a reduction in specific energy consumption, and an increase in the mill’s feed rate. The proposed method is applicable when designing lining plates of various materials. Steel liners with the proposed profile have been successfully operated [3] for more than 40 years at a number of projects in the industry."

ACC ECOSAND is finely powdered crystalline silica, which can replace natural sand usage in concrete and plasters. ACC ECOSAND ensures a comparatively denser concrete than those made only with natural sand and / or quarry fines / Manufactured Sand (Artificial Sand). Moreover, there is a significant gain in compressive strength (10-15 %) & durability in concretes (Reduced chloride conductivity leads to increased durability). ECOSAND is a by-product of froth flotation of limestone. At ACC Madukkarai cement works, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, full-fledged mineral beneficiation process is adopted to enhance the usage of flotation reject in concrete and plasters. Optimum level for usage of ECO-SAND is 50%. With 50% usage of natural sand+50% ECO-SAND in concrete mix, 1 day, 3 day, 7 day & 28 day compressive strength is increased by 30.1 %, 22.6 %, 15.1 % & 11.0 % respectively and with moderate chloride permeability as compare to 100% Natural Sand. "Over the past few years CSIRO Minerals has been conducting research aimed at developing a continuous copper converting process to replace the traditional two-stage batch process that is currently used to produce blister copper. Sirosmelt type reactors and calcium-ferrite (lime-based) slags have been used rather than the conventional iron silicate slags. The research work has now been extended to focus on the development of a single-stage continuous copper making process (so-called direct copper converting) in which copper concentrates are converted to low-sulfur blister copper in a single step, that is the smelting and converting steps occur in one continuous stage.One feature of the direct copper converting process is that copper losses to the slag phase can be high, meaning the slag produced needs to be treated to recover the copper value. The feasibility of the whole copper making process will most likely depend on the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the copper recovery stage. Flotation has been identified as the most economical option to recover the copper from direct copper converting slags where it has been estimated that a copper recovery from the slag of above 90% is required to make the overall single stage copper making process economically feasible.A limited series of laboratory batch flotation tests was conducted on a suite of calcium-ferrite-based slags made in laboratory smelting trials. Copper sulfide concentrates from MIM were used as feed-stocks. The objectives of this work were to develop a robust flotation process to maximise the copper recovery and iron rejection from slags made in the process, and to establish operating conditions for future continuous flotation pilot plant trials.The slags treated included a reduced low copper slag, an oxidised high copper slag composite, and a very reduced low copper self-pulverising slag. The copper content of the slags varied from 2.9% to 14% Cu and the CaO/Fe ratio varied between 0.30 and 0.54. In general, the higher the copper content the more oxidised the slag. The copper was present as metallic copper, oxide copper and copper-calcium ferrite phases with the phase mix related to smelting conditions. The slags were crushed, ground, wet-screened at 355 or 210 µm to remove coarse metallic particles of copper, and floated at natural pH (about pH 11) using reagents and conditions appropriate for the selective recovery of the copper phases. Reagent additions were typically 200 g/t KEX and 500 g/t Na2S.9H2O and the grind size was generally a P80 of about 40 µm."

Annually it is formed more than 95 Mt of clinkers in iron and steel industry of Russia, including 79 Mt of clinkers in blast-furnace, steelmaking, foundry and ferroalloy productions. Complex development of clinkers will provide not only extraction of valuable components, but also preservation of ecosystems. Processing of solid slags is realized, as a rule, in a cold condition by mechanical methods only including stage-by-stage crushing of slag on devices, working on principles of compression and shift (jaw and roll crushers). However it doesn?t provide the complete extraction of metals from clinkers. The intensification of decomposition, in our opinion, can be provided under the use of the devices working on a principle of free kick. At such influence on a material, its destruction occurs on micro cracks, sides of cohesion that is there is a selective destruction of the components possessing various resistances to impact. Decomposition of a piece on the basis of free kick about a material or metal is realized in centrifugal-shock crushers and mills of research-and-production association ?Ural Center?. The share of the joints sharply lowering the efficiency of enrichment thus is minimal. The efficiency of application is proved by morph-metrical measurements with the help of system of image analysis ?SIAMS-600? and physical-mechanical tests of clinkers and their components (impact strength, micro hardness). The experience of application the devices of centrifugal-shock crushing for processing clinkers in blast-furnace, martin and converter productions of Open Society MMC, clinkers of rough-edged copper melt of Joint-Stock Company "Karabashmed" and aluminium clinkers of Joint-Stock Company « Samara plant of aluminium alloys » has allowed to confirm the efficiency of application these devices for selective decomposition of metallurgical clinkers and the opportunity of using clinkers as resource of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy.

"Studying the interaction of the phosphorus-containing flotation reagent with the components of the flotation system ""liquid-gas-solid"" during flotation of non-ferrous metal ores allows regulating the enrichment process. The phosphorus-containing reagent-collector anabasinium-O,O-dimethyl-thiophosphate has beensynthesized under laboratory conditions and the concentrated aqueous solution of anabasin hydrochloride and the 40% solution of sodium hydroxide have been used as the raw material. The phosphorus-containing reagent has been obtained by interaction of the anabasine base, sulfur and dimethyl phosphite, due to sulfur and nitrogen atoms it can form complex compounds with heavy metal ions.Studying flotation of copper-sulfide ore of the Sayak field with the use of the phosphorus-containing reagent-collector anabasinium has been performed in the open and closed cycles. The degree of ore grinding was 60- 62% of the class -0.074 mm. There has been established the dependence of the ore flotation parameters on: a) pH of the pulp; b) the consumption of the reagent-collector anabasinium.The effect of the pulp pH on the technological parameters of copper ore flotation has been carried out with a reagent regulator that increases the difference in the surface properties of the minerals to be separated.There has been used lime as the regulator of the medium, the consumption of which varied from 750 to 1500 g/t; the consumption of the reagent-collector anabasinium was 10, 15, 20 and 25 g/t.It has been found that when flotation of copper ore without the use of lime at pH equal to 7.8 and at the reagent consumption, g/t: anabasinium - 25, T-92 - 55, copper recovery in the concentrate is 92.72%, the quality of concentrate is 7, 1%.In flotation according to the factory mode (the consumption of xanthate is 44 g/t, T-92 is 55 g/t, pH = 7.8 (without lime)) of copper ore, copper recovery in the concentrate is 87.38%, the concentrate quality is 7, 97%, with reducing the xanthate consumption to 25 g/t copper recovery is reduced to 83.39%, the quality of the concentrate is up to 6.69%.In the experiments using the factory reagent mode in the closed cycle, with the xanthate mass consumption of 44 g/t, T-92 blowing agent of 55 g/t, the third recleaning concentrate contained 19.13% copper with recovery of 86.89%.Using a phosphorus-containing reagent instead of xanthate with the same flow rate, the third recleaning concentrate with the mass fraction of copper of 19.82% has beenobtained with recovery of 87.77%."

"The solubility of wollastonite and its Hallimond flotation behavior as a function of dodecylamine concentration and pH are examined. The flotation response is characterized by adsorption and surface energy in the presence of amine. The methods of UV-Visible and FT-IR spectroscopy for adsorption and sessile-drop contact angle for surface energy estimation are employed.The results of wollastonite dissolution clearly showed its non uniform dissolution. The surfaces are depleted with calcium ions and became rich in silicon within 10 min of flotation time. Maximum flotation of wollastonite corresponds to a half monolayer coverage of amine, which is substantiated by the surface energy parameters as shown in figure 1."

The objectives of this study were to propose a viable alternative method for recovery of precious metals such as gold (Au), silver (Ag) and palladium (Pd) from waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs) and to regenerate the spent lixiviant solution for reuse. The proposed method generally consists of several steps as follows: 1). iodine-iodide leaching for metals extraction; 2). separation and recovery of precious metals and metal impurities from a pregnant leach solution; 3). regeneration of the spent iodine-iodide solution/lixiviant. In this method, more than 99% of Au leaching was achieved in the iodine-iodide solution from the solid residue of WPCBs that was obtained via sequential processes including incineration at 800 ?C and high pressure oxidative leaching with a diluted sulfuric acid at 120 ?C, while the leaching of Ag and Pd was less than 1%, respectively. Besides Ca, Cu, Ni, Co and Zn as main metal impurities, leaching efficiency of other metals did not exceed 1%. The precious metals and base metals as metal impurities present in the pregnant leach solution were separated and recovered by precipitation using L-AA and NaOH solutions. About 99.8% Au, 81.7% Ag and 72.8% Pd were recovered from the pregnant solution at pH of 2 with the addition of 0.1 M L-AA as precipitating agent. The remained small amounts of precious metals and metal impurities were precipitated at pH 13 using 1 M NaOH. The spent lixiviant after sequential precipitation was regenerated in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, hydrochloric acid and potassium iodide. It was revealed that over 90% of gold could be extracted from the residue of WPCBs with the regenerated lixiviant solution.

"The basic requirement of glass industry for the silica sand is at least 99% SiO2 content. On the other hand, coloring impurities such as Fe and Ti, must be removed. Flotation is the most widely used method for the purification of silica sands from impurities. In this study experimental studies were carried out to reduce Fe content of Mersin (Turkey) district silica sands by flotation. Silica sand sample with a d80 particle size of 1.85 mm was reduced below 0.5 mm in size. Then the size fraction -0.5 +0.106 mm was subjected to flotation tests. In flotation tests, sulfonate-type R801-R825, fatty acid based DER NA 7 (Produced by a Turkish company) and HA110-HA150 a blend of various chemicals produced by Mersin Cam-Is Mining Company (producer of glass raw materials) were used as collectors. Flotation tests showed that sulfonate type R801-R825 collectors provided much better results in acidic medium (pH: 3). The optimum pH value for DER NA, HA150 and HA110 collectors was found to be 7. It was observed that the addition of collector at once caused an increase in the amount of floated product that resulted in a loss of silica to the tailings. In the case of multistage addition of the collector much better selectivity was achieved. As a result of flotation tests conducted under best conditions, a concentrate assaying 0.046% Fe was obtained with a weight percentage of 93.4 when DER NA 7 was used as a collector. In the case of R801-R825 a concentrate was produced with 0.058% Fe content with a yield of 98.4%. On the use of HA150-HA110 the concentrate was produced with 96% weight recovery and 0.052% Fe content."

TATA STEEL is the pioneer in coal beneficiation in India. The first coal beneficiation plant was set up in 1951 at West Bokaro and subsequently in 1953 in Jharia. Over the years more beneficiation capacity was added by setting up new coal washeries in both West Bokaro and Jharia, the coal divisions of Tata Steel. currently the beneficiation capacity available is 8.5 mtp aappx Being a captive supplier supplying the coking coal as per demands of our steel works is challenging in the sense that the intent is to leverage the captive raw material advantage and select the best strategy for maximizing value up to steel making. The beneficiation plants were designed to produce clean coal up to 17% ash. With the demand of increasing productivity at the blast furnace the clean coal ash was lowered. subsequently the processes were audited and efficiency improved. The next challenge was to improve the throughputs in the existing plants to maximize the clean coal production. The upgradation was designed in house and implemented to upgrade the plant from nameplate capacity of 2.1 mtpa to 4.5 mtpa while the yearly production targets were also achieved. The presentation will detail the different phases of improvements, process followed, challenges faced, and the results as achieved in the process. Drying operation can have a major importance in a mineral processing undertaking. The proper sizing of dryers can ensure the specified dewatering level without energy wastage. However, often the sizing of fluidized bed is done disregarding the actual residence time distribution (RTD) of the particles inside the reactor. In this case it is usual to adopt the average residence time as a design criterion. In this work, we have quantified the effect of residence time distribution on drying, ensuring that a previously adopted fraction of the particles remains inside the reactor for the required time lapse needed for drying. Design criteria such as particulate flow rate and drying time, taking into account the statistical distribution of residence time was studied, matching the thermodynamic and fluid dynamic aspects of the drying process. Experimental tests carried out have confirmed the RTD for a teetering bed as the same for a canonical ideal mixing system. Although the fluidized bed volume using the proposed formulation was higher than that found for the average time based procedure, the efficiency gain in drying has proven advantageous.

The aim of the research is to increase the recoverable value of poor, difficult-to-digest complex mineral raw materials. In the Republic Belarus, universal centrifugal-shock devices have been created for crushing, grinding and classification of ore and non-metallic mineral raw materials in dry mode, which differ from foreign analogues by a higher level of resource saving (including electricity and materials). Dry-ore preparation technologies have been tested on a pilot scale: fine crushing (replacing grinding in rod mills), grinding (replacing wet grinding in ball mills) and pneumoclassification on different types of ores, - which made it possible to identify the criteria for the suitability and unsuitability of mineral raw materials for their use. The possibility of regulating the upper and lower limit of the size of the finished material is established, the possibility of reducing the yield of slimes (-0,020 mm) to 5 times is determined. A comparative analysis of the contrast degree of separation characteristics of ore a similar granulometric composition, crushed in wet and dry conditions, is performed. The achieved contrast degree of gravity properties after dry grinding - 104,3; after the wet - 60.2. When enriching on a centrifugal concentrator, gold recovery to the concentrate after dry grinding increased by 13.12% while improving the quality of the concentrate from 78.3 g/t gold to 90.75 g/t. When testing the gravity-flotation scheme for the enrichment of poor gold-quartz ore, the increment of gold extraction after dry grinding was 7.6% for gravity and 9.5% for flotation; the total increase in extraction is 17.1%. The possibility of flotation of a larger material after dry grinding has been proved, with an extraction gain of 1.5% compared to the flotation of thinner material after ball milling. The influence of dry technology on the efficiency of the leaching of gold and silver (an extraction gain of 5.5 to 10%) and heap leaching (extraction gain - up to 18.3%) was studied. The positive influence of dry ore preparation technologies on the efficiency of gold and silver heap leaching and heap leaching, thickening and filtration is proved. Lines of dry ore preparation technologies can be used in modular complexes for processing technogenic raw materials.

"Particle-laden interfaces are a fundamental research topic in froth flotation since the process involves particle-coated bubbles in both the pulp and the froth phase. In most experimental studies the characteristics of the particle layer in multi-bubble systems are poorly defined. An experimental setup has been developed based on a Langmuir-Blodgett (L-B) trough. The modified trough allowed introducing an air bubble beneath the particle monolayer formed at the air-water interface which made the study of the interaction between the bubble and the monolayer under various pH values possible. The monolayer characteristics of the particles were also studied and compared in terms of surface pressure (?-A) isotherms and packing factor. On compression, the particles formed branched structure at high pH whereas a uniform monolayer was formed at lower pH. Observations related to the behavior of particles during compression and expansion cycles, and the coalescence of a bare bubble with the flat particle laden interface were provided and the implication of the results for flotation process was discussed.INTRODUCTIONFroth flotation is known for its versatility and ability to concentrate low-grade, complex ores. It is considered a physico-chemical process in which particles attach to air bubbles, depending on their hydrophobicity as well as other factors, and are carried to the surface to form a froth layer. Reagents are used to stabilize bubbles and the froth layer (Pugh, 1996). However, particles, which are carried by the bubbles or entrained, significantly contribute to the stability of the froth phase (Ata et al., 2003; Zanin et al., 2009; Bournival et al., 2015a). Their relevance in mineral processing has led to a number of fundamental studies on the effect of particles and their properties on the process of froth flotation.Flotation systems are particularly difficult to characterize due to the broad range of properties of particles (e.g. size, liberation, hydrophobicity, etc.) and inconsistent operational conditions (e.g. changes in water quality, reagent addition, etc.). Several studies have made the use of well characterized particles in laboratory conditions. Such studies allowed the finding of an optimal contact angle for the stabilization of the froth phase (Johansson and Pugh, 1992; Ata et al., 2002). Froths have a large number of bubbles so that individual interactions are not observed. The study of two bubbles allows to determine the stability of the bubbles, with particles, and to some extend the stability of the bubble-particle aggregate (Gourram-Badri et al., 1997; Bournival et al., 2015b). The removing of particles between two bubbles may also be studied from a Scheludko cell (Johansson and Pugh, 1992) or by observing a bubble with a flat interface (Sethumadhavan et al., 2002). However, these systems provide limited information on the arrangement of the particles."

Zeta potential measurements show that the isoelectric point of crandallite, in aqueous solution of 10-2 N sodium chloride is at about pH 5.5. Measurements of turbidity confirm the point of zero charge or crandallite. Calcium ions specifically adsorbed on the surface and thus changed the zeta potential and turbidity. From the measured data, it is confirmed that starch acts as a flocculent for crandallite. Oleic acid, which is a collector used in phosphate ore processing is weakly adsorbed on the surface of crandallite. This results in hydrophobic coagulation of particles resulting in a lower turbidity.

With shortage of sulfide nickel ores, laterite ore was paid more attention by scientists. Because its grade is commonly lower than sulfide nickel ores, laterite ore can not be utilized effectively be-coming the bottleneck of study. Leaching laterite ores from Yuanjing, Yunnan province, organic ac-ids show better selective than sulfide acid in nickel and cobalt recovery. Organic acid has low de-pendent on pH, keeping leaching capability even higher than 3. On the other side, when pH up to 2, sulfide acid can not leach laterite ores any more. After four kinds of organic acid leaching laterite ores, besides citrate, malate and succinate have good leaching and effectively selective capability. Especially, succinate has the best selective leaching capability of nickel and cobalt in four kinds of organic acids for latter anion purification and separation. Isolated from waste water with sugar, Aspergillus niger (zs1) has great capability to produce organic acids and vigorous growth. Laterite ores have been respectively processed by direct-leaching and indirect-leaching. Indirect-leaching gives a better result than direct-leaching. Extraction of nick-el by indirect-leaching reaches 44.3%, far more than that of direct-leaching. Moreover extraction of nickel at pulp density of 5% is higher than that at pulp density of 10%, reaching 63% in 11 days and extraction of cobalt also is 48.1% in the same period. Compared with nickel and cobalt, iron gives low extraction in solution, containing organic acids produced by Aspergillus niger .
