As fibras sintéticas vêm sendo gradualmente substituídas por fibras naturais. Em comparação com a fibra sintética, fibra natural demonstrou vantagens econômicas e ambientais. Visto que apresenta características interfaciais com matrizes poliméricas que favorecem a absorção de energia de alto impacto pela estrutura. No entanto, até agora pouco foi avaliado sobre a fibra de cânhamo incorporada em matrizes poliméricas. Este estudo tem o objetivo de avaliar a resistência ao impacto deste tipo de compósito com matriz de poliéster reforçada com diferentes porcentagens de fibras de cânhamo. A resistência ao impacto aumenta proporcionalmente com a quantidade relativa de fibras incorporadas como reforço na matriz polimérica. Este desempenho foi relacionado com a dificuldade de ruptura imposta pelas fibras, resultante da interação da matriz de fibra de cânhamo / poliéster de forma a ajudar a absorção da energia de impacto.

"Natural graphite exists mainly in three types of amorphous graphite, flakes graphite and lump graphite. Graphite from Bao Ha mine, Lao Cai province is with 11.8 carbon-graphite %, forms in flakes and dense crystals. The paper presents the comparison among enrichment of Bao Ha’s graphite by two types of froth flotation with 90 g/t kerosene oil as collector, 50 g/t montanol 800 as frother, in natural pH, and at 20 wt.% of solid. The differences among three flow charts indicated that using middling flotation and re-middling flotation for the cleaning tails and the scavenger concentrates, the final concentrate was improved and containing up to 94 carbon-graphite % of flakes graphite, up to 82 carbon-graphite % of fine graphite with 93.48 % total recovery, moreover, carbon-graphite in the final tail is 0.86 % with 6.52 % recovery. However, a refining mill and a classification stage were applied before doing the middling flotation stages.1. INTRODUCTIONGraphite (black lead or plumbago) is used in many industrial applications due to its high electrical and thermal conductivity, lubricity, and chemical inertness. High quality graphite can be used in metallurgy, molding, brake linings, batteries, and fuel cells. Graphite, composed exclusively of the element Carbon, is rather common mineral, but fine crystals are rare. Graphite is soft (hardness: 0.5-1 Mohs scale); has a layered, planar structure; occurs in platy or acicular (occasionally) morphology (Minerals.net; Pierson, 1993).USGS (2017) reported, global consumption of natural graphite continuing increase in the period of 2012-2016. In 2016, China used up 35% while produced 66% of the world’s graphite. Graphite mining are being developed in Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia and Tanzania, but production reduced in Canada from 2015. Based on the statistic of Statista.com shows from 2011 to 2014 and a forecast to 2020, the global graphite demand is mostly in refractories, batteries, others, lubricant/crucible, foundry and pencil, and that is increase every year.Graphite Vietnam lies on the fault of the Red river from Yen Bai to Lao Cai, the reserves is estimated around 29.3 million ton and mostly in Lao Cai province where has Nam Thi graphite mine and Bao Ha graphite mine (MOIT, 2008). Vietnamese graphite products could reached to ~92% graphite carbon (Cg) (Tran Thi Hien et al., 2008). Studied samples was collected in Bao Ha graphite mine, is located in Lao Cai province. Graphite Bao Ha exists in two types as graphite flakes and amorphous (Hoang Thi Minh Thao et al., 2017)."

O trabalho surgiu mediante a necessidade de reduzir o custo na compra de anéis de laminação em 50% do que é praticado atualmente. Os anéis de laminação utilizados atualmente no 1º passe de laminação do laminador de perfis leves são anéis fabricado de aço ferramenta D2 e tem um custo alto para serem fabricados. No processo de laminação de perfis leves utilizamos cassetes onde são alocados esses anéis e para realizar a laminação de cantoneiras faz-se necessário a montagem de 4 anéis bi-partidos no eixo superior e 2 anéis bi-partidos no eixo inferior totalizando 6 anéis por cassete, além de reservas que temos que garantir para a realização de trocas por desgaste por laminação. Para o processo de fabricação de barra chata utilizamos 2 anéis de mesa lisa 1 no eixo superior e outro no eixo inferior, além de reservas para possíveis trocas. Tendo em vista o alto número de anéis que devemos ter para nosso processo resolvemos desenvolver esses anéis a partir de cilindros sucatas de um dos laminadores de nossa unidade, de modo a reaproveita-los e com isso eliminar a compra dos anéis de aço ferramenta D2. Após o desenvolvimento realizamos o teste com os cilindros do laminador DEMAG da unidade de Barra Mansa e os anéis apresentaram performance muito semelhante ao dos que utilizamos atualmente. Com isso todos os cilindros no final de vida útil do laminador de Barra Mansa são nos enviados para passar pelo processo de usinagem serem reutilizados.

O presente trabalho propõe a carbonetação a laser de ferro puro para a formação de uma camada endurecida na superfície. A formação de uma camada dura permite obter peças com melhores propriedades tribológicas, mas sem alterar as propriedades volumétricas do sólido. Foram realizados experimentos em quatro condições de tratamento a laser, com uso de uma fonte do tipo fibra de Yb:vidro. Análises microestruturais e de dureza mostraram a formação de camada ledeburítica e martensítica, dependendo das condições experimentais, até cerca de 50 µm de profundidade. Análises por calorimetria permitiram, também, verificar que a absortividade do laser na peça variou entre 30 e 46%. Estes resultados mostram que o uso de laser para a carbonetação de peças ferrosas, com a metodologia proposta, permite um alto rendimento, alta dureza da superfície e baixo aporte térmico ao material.

As fibras de bambu são ricas em celulose, hemicelulose e lignina. Devido ás suas ótimas propriedades mecânicas conforme solicitação percebeu a abundância de celulose e sua respectiva orientação nas regiões dos entrenós, indicando elevado teor de celulose. Nosso trabalho tem o objetivo de extrair nanocelulose dessa região do bambu, desenvolvendo uma metodologia eficiente na sua produção. As nanopartículas foram obtidas por hidrólise ácida a 64% após lavagem com NaOH e branqueamento com H2O2 e NaOH. As caracterizações das amostras foram feitas com TG, DTG, IFTR e tamanho de partícula por Potencial Zeta. Foram observados dois eventos na análise DTG: um em 54°C correspondente a perca de água e em 330 °C correspondente a degradação da celulose. Os tamanhos das partículas em Potencial Zeta obtiveram picos em 257,1 nm (79,6%) e 67,9 nm (15,6%).

The system Ti-Cr has been re investigated From 40 to 100 pct Cr. The high-temperature modification of TiCr, was found to exist in the temperature range from 1365 where it terminates in the eutectoid reaction TiCr,(TI)* — HE chromium-rich region of the Ti-Cr system was investigated by Vogel and Wenderott,' Mc Quillan,' Van Thyne et dl.,' and Cuff Duwez and Taylor determined the crystal structure of the low-temeperature modification of TiCr, to be fcc a = 6.943A and Levinger' discovered the existence of a second (high-temperature) modification of TiCr, and determited its crystal structure to be hexagonal a = 4.932A, c/a = 1.617i. No information was obtained as to the temperature range over which each modification of TiCr? existed; therefore the present investigation was initiated. I) Experimental Techniques Alloys employed for the delination of this system were prepared from iodide titanium and high-purity chromium. The purity of these materials is as follows: Iodide titanium: purity 99.99 pct; major impurities—carbon 0.0001 pct; oxygen 0 to 0.002 pct; nitrogen 0 to 0.002 pct; silicon 0 to 0.005 pct; manganese 0.001 pct; copper 0.001 pct (Foote Mineral Co., Lot 609-29). Chromium #1: metallic purity 99.997 min.; interstitial content—oxygen 0.27 to 0.46 pct; hydrogen 0.028 to 0.038 pct; nitrogen 0.0002 pct (Ave-quipo Inc.). Chromium #2: purity 99.9 pct; major impurities—carbon 0.01 pct; oxygen 0.013 pct; nitrogen 0.02 pct; silicon 0.01 pct; sulfur 0.03 pct; iron 0.01 pct (Fulmer Research Institute Ltd.). A total of sixteen alloys of thirteen different compositions was prepared in the range from 40 to 95' *All percentages are given in weight percent. pct Cr. The compositions of the alloys prepared were as follows: Ti-40, 45, 50, 60, 62, 64, 66, 68, 70, 80, 85, 90, and 95 pct Cr. Two buttons were prepared of the 66, 90, and 95 pct Cr alloys. The 40 pct Cr and one of the 66 pct Cr alloys were prepared from the chromium # 2. All the other alloys were prepared from chromium #1. The alloys were arc-melted as 25-g buttons in a copper-hearth glass-walled furnace7 under an inert atmosphere of high-purity helium. The alloys were sintered at 250 amp and melted twice at 350 amp for 30 sec with the buttons being turned over between melts. Weight losses during melting were determined and in the range 45 to 68 pct Cr they were found, in all cases, to be less than 1.25 pct of the total alloy weight. A number of the high-chromium alloys shattered during cooling from either the first or second melt, which made the weight loss considerably larger than usual. The 70 and 80 pct alloys lost approximately 5.7 pct of their total weight, the 85 pct alloys 1.5 pct, the 90 pct alloy 2 pct, and the 95 pct alloy 3 pct. However, it is felt that the actual composition of the alloys in this region is probably within approximately 1 pct of the intended composition, as a large portion of the material lost was that due to shattering after melting. Nominal compositions were therefore used in plotting data and referring to the alloys. The alloys were cut into specimens, wrapped in molybdenum sheet, and encapsuled in argon-filled quartz or Vycor tubes for heat treatment. The heat-treatment times and temperatures are given in Table I. The specimens were quenched in iced brine (I.B.Q.) following heat treatment. This paper examines the effect of cation type (i.e. NH4+, Na+ and K+) and anion type (i.e. SO42- and C1-) on the extraction of nickel during the pressure acid leaching of a Western Australian laterite ore. The results are compared with testwork conducted with other Western Australian nickel laterite ores and the possible process implications of adding an additive to a plant autoclave are considered. Addition of either (NH4)2SO4, Na2SO4 or K2SO4 increased both the nickel extraction and the acid consumption, provided that the level of additive was not too great. For example, the nickel extraction of 93% increased to above 96% in the presence of additives, but decreased to 94% when, for example, NH4 levels increased from 7 kg/t ore to 21 kg/t ore. The relative stability of the jarosite species formed when additives were present influenced the amount of jarosite in the residue and, hence, both the final free acidity and overall nickel extraction. The use of Cl- versus SO42- salts as additives had little effect on overall nickel extraction or overall free acid values, although the presence of SO42- additives appeared to enhance nickel extraction kinetics over the first 60 minutes of the reaction. In contrast, manganese extraction was enhanced by the presence of Cl- additives.

O cenário de perda de produção devido a quebras de sequência por obstrução em aços acalmados ao alumínio com tratamento com cálcio apresentava-se crítico para a Aciaria. Foram realizados ajustes técnicos nos processos de refino primário e secundário através da implementação de ações para redução do consumo de alumínio, ajuste da composição química da escória de panela e ajuste do procedimento de adição de cálcio. A mensuração dos indicadores que suportaram o resultado final foi através de gráficos ternários de escória, contagem de inclusões, analise de oxigênio total, analise da distribuição química de inclusões via MEV/EDS, janela de lingotabilidade e alumínio dissolvido. The solid solubility of lithium in aluminum was determined by two independent techniques, electrical resistivity and microhardness, and the results are in close agreement. The solubility limits X-ray diffraction studies of the intermetallic compound LiAl indicate that its composition is nearly independent of temperature when in equilibrium with the terminal solid solution of aluminum. THE investigation of the aluminum-rich portion of the aluminum-lithium system at the Savannah River Laboratory was prompted by the observation that over-aged alloys consistently differed from the equilibrium states predicted by the latest published diagrams. Chemical analyses of these alloys showed their impurity contents to be quite low; therefore, the results obtained should have very nearly coincided with true equilibrium. A survey of the literature disclosed that previous studies had been made with metallographicig or electrical resistivity methods,4'5 but that agreement between results and technique was poor as evidenced in Fig. 1, which also includes the present results for comparison. The discrepancies have been attributed to impurities,3 and this is undoubtedly true in the early work.1'4'5 The latest Studies,''~ conducted with starting materials of higher purity, employed metallographic analysis, a technique that is quite sensitive to local homogeneity and depends strongly on subjective interpretation. In the present work the problem of defining solubility limits was approached in two ways. The first measured a physical property, electrical resistivity, at the equilibrium temperature. The second, a micro-hardness characterization of a diffusion zone, is a room temperature evaluation of a mechanical property under conditions removed from equilibrium. A close correlation between two such basically different approaches would strongly justify confidence in the results. A master composite (Master Comp) sample was prepared from three pegmatite zones from the Zoro Dyke D1 for mineralogical analysis and heavy liquid separation (HLS). The mineralogical examination was conducted on a subsample that was crushed to approximately P80 = 600 μm. The sample consists of spodumene (10.5 percent), quartz (29.3 percent), plagioclase (29.0 percent), K-feldspars (21.3 percent), micas (5.1 percent), tourmaline (2.9 percent) and Fe-Mn-phosphates (0.1 percent). Liberation of spodumene (88 percent) and gangue minerals, including quartz (89 percent), feldspars (94 percent) and micas (83 percent), is very good at this P80 . The average lithium (Li) concentration is 3.7 percent in spodumene, 2,196 ppm in micas, 1,001 ppm in tourmaline and 115 ppm in K-feldspars. Spodumene accounts for 96 percent of the total Li in the sample. The mineralogical data indicate the potential to recover spodumene by flotation with minimal Li losses due to other Li carriers. The HLS was conducted on a subsample that was crushed to smaller than 6.4 mm, with the smaller than 600 µm fraction removed from this test. The HLS results indicate it is possible to produce a high-grade lithium concentrate, with close to 6 percent Li2O, after the rejection of iron silicates with magnetic separation.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar alterações microestruturais em um aço microligado ao Nióbio simulando sua laminação através de ensaios de torção a quente. Ensaios de torção com deformações em resfriamento contínuo foram realizados para determinar as temperaturas críticas do material, que também foram calculadas empregando equações disponíveis na literatura. Um esquema de laminação a quente semelhante ao utilizado em laminadores reversíveis foi simulado variando-se as temperaturas dos passes de acabamento. Análise metalográfica foi conduzida por microscopia óptica com objetivo de obter o tamanho de grão ferrítico dos corpos de prova após simulações. Medições de dureza também foram realizadas. Foi constatado que o refino do grão ferrítico e consequente aumento da dureza são proporcionais à queda de temperatura do último passe da simulação.

The effects of P2OS or Na2O addition on the reaction rate of CO2 dissociation on the surface of FexO-base molten oxides was investigated at I 773K by isotope exchange method 1-6. The rate constant decreased with increasing P2Os content of molten oxides and the residual rate constant was observed at high P2OS content. On the other hand, the rate constant increased with increasing Na20 content for FexO-SiO2 melts, The rate constant was evaluated by the composition of oxides and the rate controlling step of CO2 dissociation was discussed.

Objetivo: Apresentar o Balanço Energético Global da Usiminas em 2013 - Usinas de Ipatinga e Cubatão, com os principais indicadores de consumo das áreas produtoras. Além dos indicadores energéticos globais, o balanço apresenta os consumos físicos específicos de cada insumo nas diversas áreas, permitindo a análise de cada setor das Usinas, isoladamente. Metodologia: Foram elaborados gráficos com indicadores de consumo energético por um período de cinco anos, bem como a distribuição percentual nas áreas produtoras. Nestes gráficos, é evidenciada a evolução dos indicadores ao longo dos anos. É também apresentada justificativa para a variação do indicador em relação ao ano anterior. Resultados: O trabalho apresenta análise das Usinas de Ipatinga e Cubatão em relação à evolução do consumo energético e sua distribuição percentual nas áreas produtoras.

Gahnite, a zinc-bearing spinel, is a resistate mineral that may be used as an indicator mineral of polymetallic deposits in high-grade metamorphic terrain. The Ontario Geological Survey recently completed sur?cial mapping and sampling programs in the Separation Lake area of north-western Ontario and Kinniwabi Lake area of northeastern Ontario in which gahnite was recovered from samples of sur?cial sediments. Ternary plots of the composition (ZnO, MgO, FeO[t]) of gahnite recovered from these sur?cial studies reveal three distinct groups: Group 1 is characterized by low (< 1 wt%) MgO values; Group 2 by higher (>1 wt%) MgO values; and Group 3 by higher FeO(t)values than Groups 1 and 2. The composition of in situ gahnite recovered from volcanogenic massive sul?de mineralization, Zn-rich Sedex-type mineralization and peraluminous rare-element mineralized granite and pegmatite also was determined. The composition of the gahnite obtained from sur?cial samples was compared with that of in situ material. Gahnite from the peraluminous rare-element granite and pegmatite overlapped very well with sur?cial gahnite of Group 1. Gahnite from volcanogenic massive sul?de mineralization and Sedex-type mineralization overlapped well with sur?cial gahnite of Group 2. These results suggest that determination of gahnite composition in indi-cator mineral surveys may be useful in exploration programs when assessing the mineral potential of a region.

THE only systematic work on the effect of carbon on the recovery and recrystallization kinetics of iron so far reported in the literature is that of Venturello et al.1 These workers found that doping high-purity iron so that it contained up to 86 ppm C caused a marked retardation of recovery but had little or no effect on the recrystallization kinetics. Such evidence for an effect as was obtained was inconclusive. In the course of a study of electron-beam zone-refined iron the authors have recently examined the effect of added carbon on the recrystallization kinetics of this material. The amount of carbon added was about 50 pct more than was used by Venturello et 01. and definite evidence was obtained that carbon at this level retards recrystallization. The starting material was taken from a batch of 0.2-in.-diameter Johnson-Matthey spectroscopically pure iron rods which had been further purified by being given three passes at 4 in. hr-1 in a standard MRC electron-beam zone-refining unit. The purity of this material. which was used in two other investigations of the properties of high-purity iron,2,3 was established by an extensive series of analyses. Four laboratories, the National Research Corp., Newton, Mass., the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C.. the Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio, and the National Physical Laboratory. Teddington. Middlesex, England. carried out analyses for carbon. oxygen. and nitrogen. and in addition a complete mass-spectrograph analysis was carried out at Battelle. In all, twelve analyses were carried out for carbon, seventeen for oxygen and twelve for nitrogen. The amounts of these elements found to be present were 10 * 7, 8 i 5, and 0.9 i 0.1 ppm, respectively. The limits given are rms deviations. Two results, one of 46 ppm of oxygen and another of 31 ppm of nitrogen, were rejected as anomalous. The mass-spectrograph analysis revealed the major impurity to be 25 ppm of tungsten. All of the other elements detected were present in amounts less than 0.5 ppm. Some of the rods were doped with carbon by being immersed in a suspension of carbon in oil, heated in a vacuum at 400°C, and then zone-leveled to make the distribution of carbon uniform. Carbon analyses carried out on three of the doped rods gave a mean value of 130 ± 45 ppm. Some of the doped and undoped rods were deformed 58 pct by swaging and cut into specimens 1/2 in. in length. Isothermal recrystallization experiments were then carried out on them at 575", 600°, 615", 630°, and 650°C, the volume fraction of each specimen recrystallized being measured by a point-counting method described by Hilliard and Cahn.4 The results for the two types of specimens are shown separately in Figs. 1 and 2. DESPITE the fact that a combination of metals-aluminum-zinc-tin, and sometimes aluminum-zinc-cadmium-is extensively used for aluminum solders, as well as for die-castings, the constitution of these alloys has not yet been made clear. I. BINARY SYSTEMS The system aluminum-zinc is the basis of the ternary alloys under consideration. Their composition was made sufficiently clear by the investigations of Rosenhain and Archbutt,1 Bauer and Vogel,2 Sander and Meissner,3 Hanson and Gayler4 and Isihara.5 Only the temperature of decomposition of the crystals 0 seems still to be doubtful, whether it is considered as a compound of Al2Zn3 (according to Bauer and Vogel) or as an intermediate phase of variant composition (according to Hanson and Gayler). This temperature is given by most of the authors as in the neighborhood of 256° C., only Isihara giving 280° C. As its accurate determination is of special importance in the study of the ternary alloys under consideration it was experimentally controlled in the following manner: An alloy corresponding in composition to the formula Al2Zn3 was made, in which the temperature effect was found to be the greatest. This was drilled and a silver-constantan thermoelement inserted into the cavity so as to be in direct contact with the alloy. Study area is located on the NorthWestern of Yatagan-Yenikoy and placed in the units of the crystaline Menderes massif of Eagen, Turkey. Stratigraphically gneissic, migmatitic and metagranitic rocks are found at the base. Garnet schists, phyllitic rocks lie unconfirmitelly upon the basement rocks. Permian aged marbles can be observed as diferrent sized lenses within the schists. Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous aged gray colored dolomites and pure crystaline calcite bearing marbles lie upon the Permian aged schists. Neogen series, mainly composed of conglomerates, claystones, marl and limestones unconformly cover the other basement series, mentioned above. Pure calcite bearing marble occurances are found at 2 locations in the study area. These are known as Berber Quarry and Kavuk Quarry. Samples numbered as N7, N8, NA from the Berber Quarry, mineralogically composed of Calcite (97-99%)+iron oxide (1-3%) and chemically contain CaCO3 (97,98%), Fe2O3 (0.5-1%), SiO2 (0.025%) N9 and N10, sampled from the Kavuk Quarry-mineralogically composed of Calcite (94,95%)+iron oxide (2-3%)+albite-Quartz (1-2%) and chemically contain CaCO3 (92-93%), SiO2 1.49%, Fe2O3 0.42%. Especially in plastic and paint sector albite and quartz are unwilling minerals due to their hardness. Approximatelly 1/20 of the study area (87.500 km2) contains industrial calcite occurances. Moreover about 100 billion Tons geological, 1.86 billion tons runable (possible) calcite reserve calculated. It can be expected the calcite quality will be increased with depth. During the running stage of the quarries over burden removel and hand sorting processes will positive affect of the quality.

"Ordered arrays of TiO2 nanotubular photocatalysts were prepared by a simple anodization process. Band gap states of the TiO2 were altered by controlling the anodization electrolyte composition and thermal annealing conditions that resulted in enhanced photo activity. These nanotubes were used for reducing CO2 to methanol either by photochemical or photo electrochemical routes. Pd nano-particle loaded TiO2 nanotubes were employed for photochemical reduction of CO2 to methanol that showed a conversion rate of 12 x 10-3 mol m- 2h-1. Carbon modified TiO2-xCx type nanotubes were used as photo anode and Ti as cathode for photo electrochemical reduction of CO2. The potential of Ti cathode was maintained at -0.5 V SCE. The formation rate of methanol was determined as 13 x 10-3 mol.m-2h-1.1. IntroductionGlobal warming due to emission of carbon dioxide is a serious environmental concern. The atmospheric concentration of CO2 is about 384 ppm by volume and about 3 x 1012 tonnes by weight. Burning of fossil fuels and deforestation are the leading causes for increase in the anthropogenic CO2. More than 32 x 109 tonnes of CO2 are released per year (based on 2006 data) worldwide from the fossil fuel. Pumping CO2 from the fossil fuel power plants into deep ocean basin is one of the most discussed disposal options. The other potential option is converting this green house gas into valuable fuels.Carbon dioxide feed stock can be converted into fuels of solid, liquid or gas phase by chemical, electrolytic, photocatalytic and photo-electrocatalytic methods. Reduction of CO2 to fuel form of any phase requires energy. The reduction process should be energy efficient so that we do not spend more energy and emit more (indirect) CO2 in the process of converting CO2. From this point of view, conversion processes occurring at room temperature look attractive.Electrolytic conversion of CO2 into various forms such as methane1, ethane2, ethylene3, methanol4,5, ethanol6, n-propanol, formic acid7, and formaldehyde has been widely reported. The standard equilibrium potential (at pH: 0) for reduction of CO2 to methanol is 0.14 VSHE and to methane is 0.2 VSHE which is thermodynamically more favorable than hydrogen reduction. The year 1992 recorded unimpressive economic growth and uncertainties over what changes would occur for the financial market. Falling interest rates in the United States and elsewhere tended to exert a number of positive influences on financial markets and, indirectly, the mining and quarrying industry. The interest rate declines during 1992 were no exception. Lower rates prompted many investors to turn their attention to long-term investments such as stocks that offer potentially greater rates of return, causing large cash inflows into the equity market. Lower rates made it easier for businesses to finance growth and for consumers to finance the purchase of products businesses made. Also the rates enabled many companies to increase their health and profitability by refinancing their existing loans at lower rates. Falling interest rates were not confined to the United States. With Japan and Western Europe in the midst of economic slumps, marketing authorities in many countries overseas lowered rates in an effort to stimulate business activity. True to form, that contributed to stock market rallies abroad. Stabilizing inflation and lower interests stimulated the industry during 1992 and will likely influence favorably the industry for the next few years.
